Lately I feel like the sc2 community is more immature than ever and get abused by money grabbing whores to cash a maximum using the supposed imminent death of the game as a pretext. I won't give a pennie to Hyun and in fact I will stop being interested by him in general. This whole affair is putrid. well what kind of human are you? well i honestly hope ur boss stops giving ur salary for around 3 months, then u know how it feels if u have to pay bills... ya hyun is a pro gamer and is earning this money by gaming, thats his job and he has done his job fine imo. so he should get the money he worked for...

Perhaps he's suffering from an illness which requires expensive medical treatment? As far as I'm aware the answer to all these questions is no. (and we should be happy that is the case!). On top of that, Hyun has made $85,045USD [1] (total earnings minus DreamHack earnings which were transferred to Quantic) from tournaments in the last 2 years. Assuming this information is correct, I don't see a reason to directly donate money to Hyun instead of the "Red Cross" for example, which happens to do a few fairly important things for people who will probably die a fairly horrible death without their support. I do see a reason to endlessly remember Qunatic as an organization which has cheated their player[s], watch Hyun's stream because he's an entertaining and successful StarCraft player, and donate a little money to the Red Cross. You are completely missing the point. This is not a case of Noobity comparing the value of Hyun to the value of the Red Cross, or comparing Hyun's need to those of people living in poverty. He is contrasting giving money to a charity with giving money to a friend or acquaintance in a tight spot - someone who shares a passion and got screwed. There are innumerable noteworthy charities across the world, many of which serve a crucial purpose to people's livelihoods. But you know what, I would rather give Hyun some financial support than donate to the Red Cross, too. The Red Cross is very important, but I prefer to support the community and locality in which I live. No, it doesn't have as great a need, but it's where I came from and it provided a fantastic environment for my upbringing, and I want to support it. Similarly, I admire Hyun for what he does, and I like to support Starcraft, the game I love. I've been there, being screwed over a game; my team had funds for competing in an international bridge tournament cut at the last minute. Were we impoverished? Were we going to die without support? Heck, we probably could have even paid our own way with a bit of maneuvering. But you know what, we held a fundraiser, and people funded us out of love for the game and by wanting to support their scene. They didn't come to question others' morality for funding us instead of Greenpeace or WSPCA or whatever, so I don't see why you should do so. Actually, some of the players who funded us also give extensively to charity - nothing surprising about that. I've been a fan of Hyun's for years and I want to support him. Before you go flashing your moral spotlight over everyone, please have some perspective.
