This would be pretty tragic if you could die from jumping out the window of your mom's basement.

Libertarians finally being good for something I guess. I honestly don't care whether it's 12k, 6k or 5 dollars, neither of these two need the money. I just want to see them play each other.

Besides, for someone like Naniwa, he already said it's not really the money he's going for. Yeah, it sucks but it shouldn't really affect the series at all.

It's fairly similar to being paid in stocks. You can sell it off right now and get a reduced amount of money or you can be patient with it, which seems like the best idea right now.

Unless governments set out to kill it I think it'll survive on the enthusiasm of tech libertarians and pseudo-gold bugs. At the very least, it shouldnt really affect the value of the prizepool to the two participants. It was a pretty ingenuous idea to look to bitcoin for a sponsorship. They get legitimacy and we get a commodity prizepool.

Or you can just wait and see price dropping more and more... This is why I don't want to introduce bitcoin to normal people. It isn't being treated as a currency, but a stock, and average people have absolutely no idea how to manage stock trading and stuff. Right now when prize pool is $6000 so it's nothing to Naniwa, but 2 days ago when it was $12k, it was huge, you can't just say it's nothing. People like Teaja, despite the consistency, only won above $10k twice in his career. The reason why people are afraid of bitcoin bubble because 2 months ago, the bitcoin was ranging from $110-$233, then last month it shot up to $1242.

Thanks, there is now milk from my cereal on my keyboard. I hope this show match plays out like I want it to with great games on both sides and doesn't turn out to somehow be a flop. I think there is potential for best SC2 showmatch series with this.

Both of them are on well established teams and have made plenty of money from SC2 in winnings. A guy who just made 20k last week does not need another 12k, period. Again, the difference between need and want.
