I've always found that interesting because it has nearly the exact same grammar structure as Japanese, and I've learned in my university classes that up to 25% of Korean words are cognates with Japanese words. With that evidence, it's hard for me to believe they're not related, but I haven't done enough study into it to make a claim either way.

I disagree. The korean alphabet is much simpler than the roman alphabet, and the roman alphabet is actually pretty bad for writing most of the languages that use him today (english: 12 vowels, roman alphabet: 5 vowels.)

It is, but that's not the point. Learning a whole new writing system at an older age is what it makes much more difficult. And most European languages are very similar.

Can you source that? I thought korean was an altaic language (tied with mongol, some centralasian languages, and turkish to some extent)
