Right after it happened, I told him that he couldn't stay out of the game forever. You don't choose the LR life, the LR life chooses you.

He has already spent a lot of time in the US when he lived here. That can bork your ability to get a visa later, although hopefully when the athelete stuff kicks in it will get easier. And they need a visa, since it's technically a "working" trip and not for pleasure. (Otherwise I think S. Korea is a US-VISIT or visa waiver country.)
