Favourite games were game 1 and game 6. ? It does change in every matchup or am I not getting your point? Great finals nonetheless. Maru played brilliantly and sure did show everyone that he is more than just the scrub who cheesed innovation out. I think we couldn't hope for better finals! Rain played also well but seems it just wasn't enough in the end My favorite games were: Game 1, 3 (dat game changer :O) and 4 GZ Maru! + Show Spoiler + anyone got a picture Maru hugging his sister? so cute :D

I'm actually surprised at how so few people seem to mention this. This is the entire story of these finals. Of course an extremely slick Terran play from Maru starting from game 4 kinda "helped", but still. Rain is confident, wins two easy games, gets cheesed, loses control, loses everything else. No game was even close. This is why the BW bonjwas were so amazing. They had some actual mental fortitude. Did Mvp ever lose control like this? I can't remember. Game 7 vs Life he did a weird attack but I just think it was a bad call, thinking he teched/droned more and had less units. He overextended and lost his tanks, which is rather common for even the best players. It was only a 3-2 into 3-4 though and the games weren't bops like this one

He 4-0'd Innovation to get to this point and this thread is full of people calling it a fluke. Of course they're going to call this a fluke, too. Just laugh at them and enjoy the satisfaction of knowing they're idiots. you know. There were guys like you who told me that Sniper totally was going to get at least 5 gsls. how foolish do you have to be to compare late-WoL Zerg titles to current championship wins? Not foolish at all. Sniper was a fluke just like Jjakji or Seed. (and many other who made it to the finals and lost it, aka Genius, july, inca, Top, TsL_Rain). As you can see, those flukes happened through the entire history off SC2 and will happen again. Maru over performed, and he got kinda lucky with his opponents not playing up to their full potential. That does not take anything away from his victory, he deserves it, and deserves to be proud. He still will have to prove that he can hang with the best of 'em consistently. I'll delete inca, top and rain from your list (SC2 was too far from being settled) and am willing to forget the fact that you've just called July a fluke. Sniper was playing Zerg and had a fine mirror match-up, that's what got him his title. Seed and especially Jjakji are a lot harder for me to explain though (luck on draws with Jjakji not getting to face any T in the playoffs?). Let alone all of this, Maru has been here forever, has had a very progressive and noticeable learning curve and is mechanically/strategically a much more impressive player than all the ones mentionned above. I'm pretty sure he's not a fluke. I think Jjakji just was on fire at the end of 2011-beginning of 2012. Didn't he face a couple strong terrans in the IPL tournament of champions (at least Polt iirc), winning that thing. Imo it's just that he was one of the best for a while, then fell off the map. Could be several reasons why. The way he played that GSL makes me think he could've won against strong terrans as well.
