I read a bit about the subject and apparently the treaty of lisboa that was adopted in 2007 is the reason he can't go that's too bad 
Being someone who lives between EU and the emirate i know this pain but millenium could find an easy bypass by getting forgg a ''working visa'',as soon as you have a working contract with a french company the state will have to deliver you a visa that last one year,and you can renew it pretty easily.
Hope he'll still be able to be at asus rog.

The EU has common visa policy. If he had his time in france, he can't enter any other Schengen-member in the same half-year.
The agreement with South-Korea is pretty good though. Even without a visa he can stay for three months every half-year.

ForGG has been delivered a working visa - which by the way means that he, contrary to most progamers, will have his health expenses paid by the french system - but should he enter the territory (or Europe) with another visa, it would require him to redo the whole procedure more or less.
The issue is that he needs to get his visa from the french embassy in Seoul but it seems that it wasn't delivered properly (for some reason) so now he has to wait. But when he has that, he will be french to enter France and the Schengen space without any limitations until his visa expires.
