WCS: the only tournament where foreigners mysteriously beat mediocre Koreans

fixed.

look at the koreans competing in wcs eu:
group 1: "the ones who used to be much better": mc, mma, forgg
group 2: "the ones who haven't been that good until now": tails, duckdeock, shuttle

exception:
group 3: "IM jürgen and will therefore smash every european": mvp

Ah RO8 in WCS finals is mediocre, so effectively there are 4 non-mediocre Koreans?

Grubby won because he had a secret third base that enabled him to assemble a higher tech army much sooner than his opponent anticipated. Grubby was able to get a critical number of High Templar's with storm at an earlier time than would be possible on 2 base. So ForGG's army was outmatched due to the economy difference. And ForGG was not aware that Grubby had so many High Templars until it was too late.

No I think it's because he delayed robo + upgrades to get storm out quicker.

I understand his build was designed to go for early storm but I feel the main difference in the decisive battles was the extra base enabled Grubby to get a lot more High Templars than ForGG anticipated. So it was not just that he had storm, but that he was able to cast so many of them. A lot more than would be possible on two base economy.

ForGG has been ripped off. He could have gotten into the yearly finals but now he won't have enough points.

FRUSTRATION !!!!!!

Just win Dreamhack Valencia, and a few more local lans and he'll be fine.

He can't either. I don't know what the Marseille prefecture is doing but those southern mafiosi are really really dropping the ball here.

Better pray Mvp, Soulkey Innovation, Symbol and Bomber all make it to WCS World then.

I am not the Mvp fan but I can cheer for the rest, especially Symbol and Soulkey.

NA too. Scarlet wooped Hero

This must be karma. I enjoyed Hero's defeat and now the Starcraft's God has punished me to feel the same despair as HerO's fans !

Heh, the StarCraft gods? You challenged me yesterday. Your pain shall never end.

Let me ask you a question, who else do you really like?

That sucks! Hate to know someone played with lag, especially a terran, more micro intensive. oh well, Grubby deserved this no doubts!

Im just laughing hard at people saying Grubby is better than ForGG. Yeah sure Grubby is better than Hero and sOs, we all know that.

Mostly people seem to argue that Grubby was better than ForGG today in the last set, I don't think people are arguing Grubby is the better player, let alone better than Hero and sOs? Grubby didn't win with pure luck and he didn't win because of a small micro-mistake, but this game he made the better decisions and won. I'm sure if they're playing in a LAN-environment for 99 games that ForGG would win more than half, but today he lost to Grubby who won through making better decisions.

I'd love for all this "the better player didn't go through" to stop at some point, there's no objective measurement for that so arguing like there is one is just silly. There are so many different skills one could master and so many circumstances beyond our control.

Congrats to VortiX & Grubby for getting Ro16!

Grubby should play more safely from now. Hiding bases and stuff is risky. His next opponents will be looking for these kind stuff in the RO16.

don't forget that forgg mainly qualified for the finals due to his tvt. he played very well in the first round of the finals, but he has been lacking consistency in the other matchups since forever.
first we make expand, then we defense it.

Shine beat Bisu in BW. The better player doesn't always win but usually the one who performs better during the matches that count wins. Was Shine better than Bisu? Roflno. Was he better than Bisu when they played? Yeah, and screw hydra busts.
Grubby may not be better than ForGG but he was the better player today so it's only fair to give him credit where it's due.

Yeah, ForGG is always fun to watch so it is a shame he's out so early. But Grubby is a good guy to have in the tournament as well.

Heh, the StarCraft gods? You challenged me yesterday. Your pain shall never end.

Let me ask you a question, who else do you really like?

More or less in order :Millenium guys (Obviously), Polt & Symbol & HyuN, Soulkey, TaeJa, Squirtle, MaNa, LucifroN & VortiX, Stephano >> A bunch of good koreans, Snute (except when he wins against Millenium), TLO (except when he wins and I thought he couldn't), Welmu, a bunch of good europeans (like Grubby, White-Ra) >> the rest I guess.

That's pretty much what I can think of right now;

TvZ is his weakness, he is quite good in TvP. But you are right he got through last season with TvT which shames me.

Does this become a live event at the Ro16? Meaning, do they play in front of an audience during a weekend?
