Doesn't it seem a bit odd that they are starting like 6pm local time instead of lets say 2pm?

MLG has started at 5 pm local time forever, I don't know why this is still surprising for anyone.

Bloody hell, this starts late. What timezone is this? Fucking Jupiter?

It's called the Pacific timezone.

Also, this stars exactly the same time OSL/GSL/WCS starts for the people in the Pacific timezone, so all your whining is unjustified.

Hardly whining, I guess the humour didn't register.

I have no tolerance for anything regarding timezones. It's the stupidest thing to be upset about in e-sports.

Any idea when the brackets with players will be released. Thanks!

Usually 45 to 35 minutes before the tournament kicks off. Sometimes a bit later if problems arise.

I'm not too hurt by the time zone, even though it does start at 8:30 PM, and likely to commence at 9-9:15-ish for any games. For every MLG in the past, Fridays have always started later than the usual, while Saturdays and Sundays will make up for the delay by starting early. Besides, do you really want to see Koreans and foreign pros plow through a legion of players who will likely get destroyed in every match? Wait for Saturday to see the quality games.

It's Friday. People have work, last day of school, etc. Every MLG always starts around 5:00 PM local time of where the event is held.

I don't complain about the timezone and it's not a big deal, just wanted to mention that tournaments in europe often start on thursday/friday 11am - 1pm (IEM/DH/HSC).
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Day 2-3 start much much earlier. It has always been this way which is the weird part of people complaining, it isn't a new change.

Yep exactly, it's always been this why and there really is no need to complain at all. Just wanted to point out the difference. In Europe Day 1 is always lackluster when it comes to the crowd for the first half day, but I think it's worth it for the better global stream experience. Still, no need to complain, you always had to be awake in the middle of the night to catch american sports events and as you said day 2 and 3 are much better and it's always been this way with MLG.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

It's like saying Usain Bolt is the dark horse in a 100m race for 15 years old (and Mr Bolt ofc). The favourite can't be the dark horse.

For second place, I could see Stats as a dark horse.
