MLG has started at 5 pm local time forever, I don't know why this is still surprising for anyone.

I have no tolerance for anything regarding timezones. It's the stupidest thing to be upset about in e-sports.

Usually 45 to 35 minutes before the tournament kicks off. Sometimes a bit later if problems arise.

I'm not too hurt by the time zone, even though it does start at 8:30 PM, and likely to commence at 9-9:15-ish for any games. For every MLG in the past, Fridays have always started later than the usual, while Saturdays and Sundays will make up for the delay by starting early. Besides, do you really want to see Koreans and foreign pros plow through a legion of players who will likely get destroyed in every match? Wait for Saturday to see the quality games.

I bet on Stats for winning the tournament. But I want Polt to do it. Or viOLet. And I hope Grubby can make a deep run.

I don't complain about the timezone and it's not a big deal, just wanted to mention that tournaments in europe often start on thursday/friday 11am - 1pm (IEM/DH/HSC).

Day 2-3 start much much earlier. It has always been this way which is the weird part of people complaining, it isn't a new change.

Yep exactly, it's always been this why and there really is no need to complain at all. Just wanted to point out the difference. In Europe Day 1 is always lackluster when it comes to the crowd for the first half day, but I think it's worth it for the better global stream experience. Still, no need to complain, you always had to be awake in the middle of the night to catch american sports events and as you said day 2 and 3 are much better and it's always been this way with MLG.

It's like saying Usain Bolt is the dark horse in a 100m race for 15 years old (and Mr Bolt ofc). The favourite can't be the dark horse.
For second place, I could see Stats as a dark horse.
