Over 50% in a marketshare can be considered dominant enough for a monopoly, but because there are so few game streaming services it's more oligopoly than anything. nvm: confusing monopoly actions with the term.

The verb "monopolize" refers to the process by which a company gains the ability to raise prices or exclude competitors. In economics, a monopoly is a single seller. Source: our beloved wikipedia.org/wiki/monopoly) That we EUs lag on twitch has nothing to do with either oligo- or monopoly just with the fact that either twitch doesn't have enough ressources or just lazyness. In long term they are scared enough for compititors like Youtube/Google. CAn't wait u.u

Yeah, agreed.I mean there is some competition but it seems tiny. Semantics are great and all but I think the overall point people are trying to make is that we're way too reliant on this one streaming service, as evidenced by today.

You are always relying on a service partner/provider cO Thats why there is something like SLAs etc. Its unfortunate but could happen to anyone...

A small startup's site will run like absolute shit compared to Twitch, so the only real way for anyone to be BETTER than Twitch is if they had BETTER global coverage (Google, Microsoft, Apple, or something).
