Well, Im not stupid enough to claim I know better than the pros, but it just seems to me roach/bane works way too often nowadays. Obviously I dont have any stats on it, but thats how I feel. And while I cant comment exactly how changing up build does affect high level TvZ, there just seems to be so many small things that can be done. Some basic things off the top of my head:
- Get ~2 tanks out early as a standard part of your build
- Make a habit of placing 2-3 naked rax as a part of your wall rather than 1 extra reactor rax in your main. You lose a bit of minerals, but later when you feel safe you can just lift up the rax and put them in the main and put addons on them. People did this on Cloud Kingdom all the time for example.
- Make a habit of going double rather than single bunker. Surely that 100 mineral loss (25 after salvage) wont screw up that much.
Theres probably more. Surely one or more of these things, or other small adjustments which I didnt mention, wont fuck up your build too much in case an attack doesnt come?

Furthermore, sure, Prime had a pretty solid lineup at the time, but MKP, the guy that SHOULD have been eliminated by Parting, went on to take out Bomber, Squirtle, and Curious, and I'm pretty sure that Parting, Bomber, Squirtle, and Curious would have been enough to take out the remaining two players that Prime decided to sent out (probably Byun and Creator, don't remember who else was on Prime at the time, but probably no one better than those two).
