OK! I will give you a hint: they could not compete in Korea anymore..The competition became to tough once Kespa players swarmed the GSL.

Actually the reason Mvp couldn't compete anymore was because of his injury.

Yeah, but the organizations running the WCS don't want to hope for some growth in SC2 viewership in the long term. They want (maybe need?) that short term revenue.

I think having a paywall for VODs is a bad idea, but it's important to remember they aren't doing this because they want to fuck you over, but because they think this is the best move for them financially. I still hope that Blizzard will reconsider this move though.

I also wonder if the fact that ESL and MLG can put out free VODs is going to put increasing pressure on the Korean tournaments. Those tournaments aren't cheap to produce, and they might actually need the money. Who knows?

Is lying to people by telling them its going to be free and then not doing it though the best way to go about it? If they said its going to cost you money I would never bothered with this.

When did they say that it would be free?

They never said it would be free, but when the GSL changed to WCS they also never mentioned that the ticket does not count anymore for the finals even tough they are still streaming it.

Oh I guess they said it could be either paid or free. Actually they are rebroadcasting it and explained why so I will stop complaining. At least they are reshowing it.

The streaming: Blizzard said to be streaming the leagues on Twitch in 720p for free. If 1080p and VoDs will be pay-to-watch has not been announced yet.

Having paid the OGN Twitch subscription fee and caught up on all the games today (I have watched a lot of SCII today) I'm fairly ambivalent about the experience I got. The VODs are highly disorganised, and require a lot of guesswork to navigate, which is one of the major problems. Seeing casters unable to analyse games properly because they're purely watching someone observe rather than being able to observe themselves is also pretty frustrating - it just seems completely wrong for casters to have to guess how many of a certain unit is out, or be in two minds over what vision a player has.

I really wonder what was going on with scoreboards, too - I think they were missing from 40% + of the games, often appearing for a few seconds and then disappearing. The huge, obnoxious ads for some competition or something related to tax-avoiding mega-bastards Amazon at the start of every game were also a pain.

All that aside, I've really enjoyed it so far - but when you have to pay for VODs, I think you should be able to expect a certain standard of service and the disorganised nature of them in particular doesn't qualify in my view.

I think its important to note that GOM and OGN work on a little bit of a different level from MLG and ESL. They actually broadcast on tv, which I think nets OGN at least most of the money.

I'm just annoyed that buying the year ticket for GomTV "GSL" didn't translate into getting WCS finals, too.

I mean, I'm not happy about it personally, but I don't think it was misleading or anything. WCS global finals are not a GOMtv event so the fact that they went out of their way to add it means it should fall under the special events category. I kind of wish they would give a coupon to subscribers like they have done for certain stuff in the past, but at the end of the day its not that big of a deal.

I just thought it was kind of misleading the EU and AM finals are free vods yet the season finals then costs money to watch the vods I just dont get the inconsistencies I guess.
I agree with the above though with the scores not showing up enough and the spectating could use a little work. They are struggling with some first time issues and its nothing major.

It is frustrating that they only gave us half the code A games for WCS KR season 1 and now want to charge $15 for this. GOM hasn't been winning friends lately with how they have treated their customers. I don't mean to be a whiner, but it seems like every couple of weeks I'm finding out that my yearly ticket gets less and less of what I thought it would since WCS started..

but like I said above, there is really no reason to think that the yearly ticket would cover this. Its not a GOM event and it was never part of what used to be code S. I get that it sucks that you (and me btw) pay for GOMtv VODs throughout the year and are going to miss out on this, but its not like this was something that we were entitled to from the start.

They are resteaming a feed, it's not their event and its not part of GSL. Next season finals will be run by ESL, which is also not GSL.

Sucks that Dimaga doesn't get to play Innovation. ZvZ is such a stupid match up.

After watching this I don't see how anyone could ever prefer OGN's casters to tastosis. Just my opinion.

Also, wtf is up with the dual streams for a ro16, are they crazy? And the live spoilers & jumping into the middle of games, what were they thinking. This production setup is really bad. I was thoroughly disappointed. GSL ro16 is 100 times better production and casting wise.

They got to ramp this up, at least to the level of GOM. This is a sad downgrading of what we are used to from the GSL.

I could pick two random casters to replace tastosis. It sounds like I'm listening to some kind of bad talk show when they are on. Some side chat is good and all for filler, but I think they are lacking as casters.

Now Day 9.... there's a bad ass.
