No Americans in the top 8 :p

Once again, it's a qualifier with a decent purse. Some of you have a hard time wrapping your heads around it and I'm here to help. Drop the America from title of the tournament and what do you know. It's just another qualifier to the big dance because that's all it really is like the rest of them. Why? Because it doesn't matter where you're from. It's just like flying down to another LAN you qualified for to earn more money similar to MLG's Providence Championship or how about Dreamhack Winter. That's how Blizzard set it up.

I doubt MLG would use their offices again for a Final if it comes down to them hosting it. They were pressed on time, so from a logistical side it just made sense to do it like one of their MLG Arenas & it would keep the expenses down. Time was a factor.

It's worth pointing out too that WCS AM always get fucked over by time zones because Americans can easily watch EU tournaments but Europeans have to stay up into the middle of the night for American tournaments.

So the viewer count isn't necessarily just a pure reflection of quality of games, production, players etc...

Americans get pretty fucked for gsl finals too. It was 2am-5am for east coast, yet the numbers for Korea were amazing

The Blizzcon tournament is not a season finals event, It's what comes after the 3 seasons.

I know a lot of guys who are used to staying up for those matches because we really want to see those guys play.

I stayed up for it to but I mean that timezones aren't exactly important in this case. Because EU is screwed for some AM, AM for some KR and I'm sure KR for some of each

The problem I've always had with it is that last year, WCS wasn't just a qualifier. It was a tournament series that promoted local talent and regional champions, and it ran alongside all the other tournaments. Now, we have a GSL that has less prize money, and two tournaments that are basically "top foreigners vs code B koreans" under the same billing. I feel like a lot of the frustration and bitterness I have with this tournament series is that it shares the name with WCS from last year when it really has very little in common.

KR timezone is pretty bad for everything. WCS EU starts around midnight, while WCS AM a bit later than that.

The way I deal with it is not comparing the one from last year. They're separate. This new manifestation has some similarities to the one I pictured in my World Tour Circuit but we still have a long way to go until that materializes. As much as I'd like to see my vision come to fruition we'll have to wait it out.

I feel rather sorry for HerO after seeing that hilarious video. There is little point to an event if literally no fans can actually be there to watch it.

Guys it can only be better in the future. On every single aspect. The skill level will rise as we get more premier leagues going, and even if EU & AM will probably never be as high level as code S, i think code B level players completely deserve to get more exposure with the WCS AM/EU tournaments.
And when they win those they can even get enough momentum to compete with the code S players in the seasons finals (especially since there will be no preparation between matches ).
So the overall scene is doing great, and the reduced prize money for gsl finalists is kind of artificial since they are sure to make more during the season finals ( and i guess any finalist is kind of guaranteed to get a spot at blizzcon with that amount of points).

And glad that HerO won, it's good to see a TL player on top of a Premier League !

Whoops, I knew that, my bad. Then yeah, season finals will probably suck.. Hopefully they have enough time to figure that out (here's to hoping they think there IS something to figure out)

Why TL doesn't make like an awesome headline with a big picture of HerO winning the WCS America just like when MvP won the WCS Europe? WHY ? WHY !
