I thought it was obvious that his style will have problems against mass speedlings, so I assumed Snute had already prepared an appropriate response for it. Wasn't that just a wrong read by snute. Like i said earlier in the thread, didn't he just assume it was a roach warren, not an evo(and with the drone pull to kill the scout, would've probably made more sense). I mean had he thought he was going mass speedling, he'd surely not take that early of an 3rd.
you don't have to assume
zergling speed and baneling nest are not optional in zvz
skipping those is always a gamble. what happened to the standard safe zvz from all of 2012?

In all honestly, did people expect anything different? I didn't expect a Korean to win in EU, the only reason it happened is because Mvp was in a much better condition than people were expecting. If it wasn't for that EU would have won.
Mvp even said during the finals he felt better than he had felt in ages. lol.

did everyone forget how to play standard or safe?
Personally I feel like the "standard or safe" play of late 2012 was a bit greedy. I remember watching a lot of those ZvZ's in the gsl wondering if everyone had just forgotten how to make zerglings. I think that people have been taking too many risks for quite a while now and its honestly refreshing to see some bluffs get called.

Scarlett too, if you count Canadians as Americans which they hate so much.

I can't speak for all Americans, but here are my thoughts: I'm a little sad that there are no American players left, but I don't mind Koreans. In fact, I was rooting for an all Korean semi-finals (can't cheer against Ryung, and as an American, I don't feel any special connection to the only European player left)
As an Axiom fan, I can't say I'm that bothered
