HasuObs on the other hand is a well known player with a long career with good results, but he did not break the line, which separates most foreigners from the very top foreigners. Also it's most unlikely he will do so in the future.

Hasu is just ultra-solid. He was relevant in 2010, before Life, Leenock, Gumiho, JJakji, MMA or DRG came up, he is more relevant than Trickster/San/Inca/anypro/TOP/Maka/Fruitdealer/Boxer now (current state of the game, ofc. Fruitdealer is the first GSL champion and thus an icon of SC) and in two years he will probably be more relevant than Nestea, Jjakji or Sniper. That´s the one thing, foreigners have on their side; their careers are usually longer in a good state, players who were good in the beta (for example Hasu, Socke, Dimaga, Lucifron...) are still good now.

no. difference is their comparisons/competition.

Nestea constantly plays against the top 50 players in the world.

Hasu doesnt have to play any of them.

Europeans/NA/all foreign players stay relevant because they dominate a weaker scene.

If they played where Nestea, Jjakji, Sniper all play, it would be the exact same for them. they would get stuck in the crowd of excellent players without any real note.

To an extend this is certainly true, but let me just post the top 16 of GSL 1:
Fruitdealer, Rainbow, Ensnare, Liveforever, Maka, Trickster, Inca, HongUn, Nettie, Legalmind, TOP, San, Hyperdub, Check, anypro, Clide.

Would you bet money on any of them against Dimaga, Hasu, MaNa or Lucifron?

Like I said, the guys you mentioned (Nestea, Sniper, Jjakji) are future possibilities, atm. I still see them on a pretty high level.

There's a reason they all gave up and retired. If they played in a weaker scene where they could continue to remain competitive and earn money, they may have continued to practice.

That would be an explanation for what I said, not a counter-argument. Also GSL was´nt always as stacked, as it is now. For example Maka´s GSL career was ended by Sjow, who was pretty comparable to the guys I named before, Ensnare finished behind iNcontroL, Cruncher and Moman at NASL, while he was still in Code S.

Also I did´nt say, that the euro carrers are magically longer than koreans, it is just smth. that is a result of the korean infra-structure. If you live in Europe/America you will not have training houses, where you train with a strict schedule for 12 hours a day. This results in the fact, that koreans are better players during there prime time. But what I said originally is just a conseqeunce of the same thing, if you do´nt have the korean infrastructure, you might not reach a skill level, that the top koreans have at their prime, but you also won´t get immediatly replaced by 3 other guys, who are just as good as you either and thus are able to have a longer career at a level above the current level of Rainbow and co..

Edit at Shellshock: Yes, San is still around, I know, but you get what I mean and that is one guy out of the former top 16 in the wolrd (naming just the ones, that are irrelevant now would be ridiculos) . And I would´nt pick him over those 3 either, but that is debatable I guess. At least he made me happy today, when I finally saw my general eliminating a korean out of smth, even if it was bo1 and online.

I am not so sure about that, like I edited above, he got kicked out of the online ESET-qualifier by GoOdy today.

oh for real? maybe he lost his online qualifier luster then. I'd have to rethink that bet now. But yea, I understood the point you were making before. I just wanted to play around :D

Yes, but it was probably on EU Server. But it should have been the real one, they casted a game of him in the earlier rounds and he dismantled his opponent pretty hard. Unfortunately I was watching WCS, while the San-GoOdy result took place.

Kaelaris and Apollo will be casting 4 matches on one stream and the guys from GamesocialTV will cast the other 4 matches on the second stream.

Also the other languages will be casting some games as usual.

(Z)Ret vs. (Z)VortiX ; (P)ToD vs. (T)ThorZaIN ; (P)SaSe vs. (T)Shuttle and (P)Grubby vs. (Z)Nerchio will be casted by Kaelaris and Apollo
(T)Bunny vs. (T)MMA ; (T)Dayshi vs. (T)Strelok ; (Z)Bly vs. (P)Feast and (Z)Tefel vs. (P)NaNiwa by the GamesocialTV guys

Looks like the times for the games are out now aswell : http://wcs.esl.eu/news/final-round-challenger-vs-premiers/
