Exactly, but declining it isn't right either.

In defence of Naruto, I am pretty sure from my terrible sporting career and much watching that the expectation is of the loser offering their hand, rather than the winner.

Think of it as in playing ladder I guess, the loser is the one who ggs out, when the obvious winner does it it can smack of gloating (although I don't think that was the case in this instance)

That's not true at all. In tennis, basketball, fencing, debating, etc. I've always had both sides approach each other. We have several examples from the SC2 scene like Mvp going to console MKP. Just think about MLG games, the winner often went to the loser's booth to thank him for the games. It's supposed to be mutual. It's nothing like an offensive gg as the game is already finalized.

And we have seen pro players give other pro player space. I cannot remember who the opponent was, but someone wanted to shake hands with HerO but saw he was devastated by the loss, I think crying. So he left the booth again. You know Naniwa is rage / on tilt after that. Just give him his space. If he wants to shake hands, he'll do, otherwise just move on?

Naniwa didn't look anything like HerO. Sure, had Naniwa been crying or throwing a Hulk tantrum, yeah, Vortix should go there. But Naniwa looked perfectly normal. You cannot know what the other person is thinking inside, so it's still the right thing to do to thank them for the games in the traditional sportsmanlike way.

And I still haven't seen you apologize for calling Vortix BM, i.e., player bashing.

I'd have a bit more sympathy for someone who is sad about their loss than someone who's just pissed off.

Different people breed different emotion when losing. Naniwa is angry at himself, the game, everyone. HerO is sad. Who are you to judge about him? I am not even a Naniwa fanboy, I just stated my opinion but the Naniwa-hate-train unfortunately rolled me.

At least over here in the states, when we're playing sports we act like men, and win or lose--we shake hands with our opponent..

It's still better if the loser is the one extended the handshake. If you do it as a winner it can be seen as an offensive GG if that makes any sense. I mean imagine you just lost and are really pissed and want to cool off for a moment and your opponent runs over to you with a big grin does that seem friendly ? For me it wouldn't seem like that.

this. also "we in the states act like men" - lost me after that to be honest.

Good for you, buddy.

I have to agree...You can't say "we in the states act like men" then expect people to take anything you say after that seriously.

Dude, how many times to I have to tell you people that it's just my opinion. I think that it's childish to get all upset and ill mannered toward your opponent after a game. I feel that accepting your loss and shaking your opponents hand is the thing to do as an adult (read:man). Every single sporting team I've ever been on (soccer, basketball, baseball) we shake hands. I can only talk from experience and therefore I said 'over here in the states'. I've never been to Europe so you cannot reasonably expect me to know every little customary detail..

I watch ALOT of US sports i've seen quite a few examples of hotheads that need to calm down and be left alot for a while a devastating losses . Some people take losses harder than others you should know and respect that. Is it a bit immature ? Maybe but you should know who you should approach and who you shouldn't after a loss.

I don't need to apologize for my opinion and I have never insulted anyone. I calmly said, that I find it just as bad mannered as refusing the handshake to initiate it as the winner. As do MorroW, ToD etc.. it seems. Should they apologize as well?

Oh come on now you have over 3k posts, you aren't new here.

So TL is not better than Reddit after all eh?

Yes, imagine discussing something that happens and is thus relevant at the event that the live thread is covering? >_>
