I just checked, how the hell did free lose, wtf?

kespa b teamers have been kicking the shit out of kespa a teamers...its really confusing...

Considering it a pass of age. Maybe it is time that many b teamers become better than a teamers?

That is not it. If they were better they would be the a teamers and be getting pro league play time. There are more indications that im willing to try to explain that free is better than kop and herO is better than ALBM. Win rates, results, play time, the way their play looks, competition faced, etc etc etc.

Well, anyone can lose or win or a bad or good day, respectively. When you look at the list of those who qualified, you can only pick out a minority who qualified despite being of significantly lesser skill. Most of the players who qualified have the skill to survive in Code A. It's selection bias that makes us feel that b teamers are dominating.

I just think there are serious problems with the code b qualifier system. Although the great majority of people who advance can compete in code a far too often you have lesser players beating better players. When gsl champion quality players have an issue getting through the qualifiers you know there is a problem. I'm not even sure what the problem is, perhaps the fact they dont give people time to know who they are facing, map pool...I dont know but it is something.

It's an incredibly straightforward system. Tournament style, best player on the day wins. There are no excuses for these "better" players losing; it is their fault, not the system's.

The gsl in code a and code s have extensive systems to allow the better player to win. Win once in code a and you are in the gsl next season no matter what. You know your opponents ahead of time, a shot in the up and downs if they lose. Code s has groups with multiple best of 3s, top 8 stay in code s, and so on. Code b the brackets are made on the spot, no prepare time for specific opponents, simple best of 3 format is far weakest at producing the best players consistently than all the rest of the gsl.

Code A and S have a set group of players. Code B is an open qualifier. So the point about Code A and S having a system to keep players in isn't relevant.

Best of 3 isn't ideal, obviously, but you have to consider time constraints, man power, and player fatigue. I doubt the players want to play 3, maybe 4 Bo5s or 7s just to get into Code A. It would also take forever to finish the qualifiers.

Almost all qualifiers, even from BW days, are held in this manner, maybe with minor changes here and there. Upsets happen. Even at his peak Bisu constantly bombed out of OSL early or in the qualifiers. It's not strange at all.

The Bisu point just proves its a flaw in the system. I feel there must be some creative solution when the gsl is one giant creative system to improve this some what. Letting people know their brackets a week in advance, for example would help.

The purpose of open qualifiers is to allow lesser known players and players who aren't deemed Top players a shot at making it to the big time. A lot of the best players now surfaced from Code B and other qualifiers, beating players they shouldn't have beaten. Guess what, they beat them and have now proven themselves to be better, their first step being Code B.

If you want a system that ensures that consensus "best" players ALWAYS advance, then you want a tournament with only invites. This kind of circlejerk is terrible for the scene because it is stagnant.

Just curious, judging from the way the brackets are handled... are the qualifiers open to anyone that wants to try? For example, could someone just walk in and sign up and then wind up in Code A?
Yes, I email sponsors... to thank them. Don't post drunk, kids. My king, what has become of you?

Wow...
Group I is absolutely stacked.
Stork has basically given what bisu got for his group...."no names" except himself and one extra kespa player.
Hydra has an extremely easy group
I forgot AzubuGenius existed.

So basicly they need to give Bisu a seed because of his name !

Not exactly what I had in mind...

I know but these are open qualifiers, if you want to release the brackets a week in advance it's not really what an open bracket is about.
And what advantage would give this Bisu if he play's Mr. X in a week. A guy he knows nothing about yet this person get's all the vods of Bisu. It would be double edged sword that could backfire rather easy.

In the end as people have stated it's more to do with Bisu having problems with this system then instead of this system being wrong.

Yep, they're open for anyone to try. Lots of fans do it for the experience alone. I might if I was in Korea too.

Code A has had a few randoms over time too. Ggandol, ShinyStar, those kespa-trainees last season, etc.
