The "premature" thing is an ongoing joke - I think early LRs are great.

Well honestly i think leenock had the right idea in hots just didn't execute it well. Both him and life were choosing to go mutas, i think leenocks biggest mistake was rushing for them. Life got up a far better econ before transitioning to them.
I thought Leenock also did an admirable job at dealing with the drops from a disadvantaged position. But he was just too far behind to ever fully stabilize.
Lastly i think Innovation abused drops far better than any opponent Life faced at MLG. So well see.
I don't think Leenock has figured enough out yet to carry his team like hes done in past GSTL's other players will have to step up. IM should have this one. I just hope its a good match.

Is there for sure going to be fantasy GSTL?

To be honest, I like both teams, I like LG-IM a lot, all of their players are good. On the other hand, FXO got Leenock and Gumiho which are my favorite Zerg and Terran players. Don't know how much Gumiho practiced HOTS, but if he is in top shape, I don't see any chance from LG-IM to handle his drops. And after watching Life winning the MLG, I am pretty sure that Leenock will be better prepared as well.
Though call. But I am going FXO for this one just because of Gumiho.

A little surprised by the overwhelming results of the poll.
-FXO won the last two GSTLs. -It's a Bo7, which favors FXO immensely. -IM is starting a relatively unknown player. -IM has a history of resting its best players. -IM players have not looked very good in HotS, and FXO players have shown more adaptability in the past.
We'll see, but I think it's pretty close, and the edge goes to FXO. Their reliance on Lucky and Leenock might be their doom if they haven't adapted to HotS yet though.

Agreed, early LR threads lets us hype it up and lets more people know It's happening in advance which can only be a good thing.

LG-IM dominated IEM and grabbed all top 4 spots over players like violet. If anything, they are huge favorites here.

I disagree, it was a zero hour tournament against mostly foreigners, and they played the game as if it were WoL. MVP and Seed showed no signs of adaptation between IEM and MLG. It's very unclear whether they understand HotS at all.
No doubt they are good players, but we haven't seen anything interesting from them yet.
Edit: I'll admit that I forgot MC will be playing for them this season, though. That definitely makes their lineup a lot stronger.

I think leenock was fine he just didn't have the right playstyle. now that MLG's over I'm sure he's refining his playstyle. I still expect IM to win though. too many good players. I'm hoping I get to see losira play a zvt

I agree with everything except the edge going to FXO and IEM kinda shows they are looking good in HotS. Judging from MLG, Leenock may not be able to do what he did in WoL team leagues right now. Gumiho may be even better though
IM 4-2

once again...what?
- Seed wasn't at IEM and was one of the first Korean pros to start playing HotS...
- MVP has been doing WoL TvP with widow mines and speedvacs. The same as every other Terran lately. I think he's adapted just fine. He was also one of the first terrans to use widow mines with bio instead of tanks in TvZ if I'm not mistaken.
- There's also the matter of GSTL pre-season that wasn't addressed where Byul, Ruin, and Ragnarok all looked very impressive and familiar with HotS. (Ragnarok in particular is one of the strongest known HotS zergs).

of all teams to call weak in HotS you pick the one who won the gstl pre season convincingly and dominated a tournament, yes it was a weaker lineup than MLG but they still beat violet, parting, dream, golden and mc. this is just laughable.

If you say so. I wouldn't say the team is weak overall, it's obviously got the highest caliber of players of any team in the GSTL, but that hasn't stopped them from winning individual tournaments while simultaneously losing in/ignoring the GSTL.
IM sent the most representatives to a foreign tournament, so of course they dominated it. So what? The results of the preseason are valid but again, that was a long time ago (in HotS practice time), and it's not clear how seriously many of the teams were taking it. FXO has a much better history in team events, they benefit from the Bo7 format, I don't think it's obvious that either team is a clear favorite here which is why I said it's up in the air. You can disagree if you want, but I think you're merely looking at the scoreboard and not the actual games.
|
I only disagree with the bolded part, saying " -IM players have not looked very good in HotS " is just not true at all. Everything else is valid.

Most Valuable Player = Most Valuable Player imo
