Also keep in mind that the probe got through to place a proxy pylon to allow for mass Zealot counter attacks. If that probe hadn't made it out (or if Leenock would have seen it passing beneath his Overlord) Leenock would not have needed to unburrow his Swarm Hosts to return to the Nydus and protect his base.
Yup.
Without that pylon the whole game looks super different and would've likely gone completely the other way.
Swarm Hosts are just one of those units, when they are working well they look overpowered as hell, when they aren't they look useless. This is one of the latter, but it has way more to do with Squirtle outmaneuvering Leenock than it does with anything wrong with the Swarm Host.

Leenock was destroying good people with that swarm host stuff on stream yesterday, it definitely didn't look weak. I still think it's a terribly designed unit though, lurker+impaler morphs from hydra's or roaches would be so much better imo, oh well.

Watching swarm hosts and their role for zerg just not exciting at all for me as a contrast to lurker in BW.
Maybe when the unit gets more figured out it will become better but I just don't find it entertaining to watch because it slows the game down.

They did have about an hour of pregame stuff, with players from each GSTL team there to speak a few words. People might've gotten bored pretty quickly after that! Jjakji was looking good though

You expect pro players to take a brand new and completely unorthodox unit and create a staple build for their race in only a month of playing HoTS which is about as long as most have been playing it including beta when you consider they were still training for WoL while the beta was going on.
Give it some time, new builds take time to innovate and perfect.

I don't know why people don't like the game when its fresh and people are feeling out things. The excitement potential is so much better when people are apt to do anything. The surprise and creativity is better for viewers than mechanical play, even perfect mechanical play.
I remember how exciting the games were in the first GSL. Every new thing that FD did was incredible because I hadn't seen it. In the last GSL of WOL there wasn't anything new so it was a lot less fun to watch.
