What you say is true, in general. In the last game specifically, Polt was going for blue flame hellions to kill drones while taking his own third and building up his tank numbers. That was his plan. However Violet scouted the third Orbital with an overlord, then pushed with his Roaches. While the thread seemed to go mental because of Polt's hold using that supply depot trick, effectively Violet had a contain on Polt and kept him locked up in his base. For as long as thing was in place, Violet could drone up and tech up in peace. Polt was reluctant to try and get his third at that point and could not carry out his plan of roasting drones with blue flame hellions. Indeed he had to cancel Blue Flame upgrade in response to the Roach push. If you don't harass the Zerg and kill drones then they should be very strong late game. Also there is the psychological pressure you put on your opponent by causing them to react to attacks. For too long in that game Violet was not under any attack, so he could relax and not feel pressured. One of Terran's main strengths is medivac drops which tax their opponents ability to multitask and make decisions under pressure. Polt did not really put Violet's multi-tasking under pressure in that last game. There was a point where Polt could have got the win in that last game, but Violet destroyed too many tanks with Banelings. Polt only had two injured tanks left and so had to abort this push. It has to be said that I think the map and spawning positions favoured Violet in that last game. | ||
