Does Sting win the award for least dominant tournament win ever?

With a little time inbetween I think Sting deserved the win more than Grubby did. His overall performance felt more solid than Grubby's. Grubby got through two rounds before the final by the skin of his teeth, but the margins moved a little for the finals and a good run always comes to an end at some point. Anyway, this is really a big step for Grubby though, getting to a major finals, I wonder what his next step will be!

the competition only gets harder and this was the "easiest" tourney for someone of his reputation and hype to take. it's disappointing if you are a fan much more so than say BWC or WCS

Well, if you look at Grubby's run and compare it to, for example, Hero's in Dreamhack there's really not much of a difference in level of difficulty. With luck he could win one of those next year, if he could just consistently keep killing euro-zergs.

Ah Grubby why you do stupid proxy opening? Oh well 2nd place is still pretty good.

1st: This was a pretty good mindgame, Grubby thought Sting would go CC first with a late scout.
2nd: He performed this pretty well and was at least even with his opponent after his zealots got pushed back. The reason he lost was that he didn't expect Sting to tank allin him (I think he thought Sting built a cc after the banshee)

It still put him behind in terms of tech. If he had done a standard 1-gate expand he would have had way more chance to hold a 1-1-1. Yes you can say it's good if your opponent goes CC first but in a final game that's not a good thing to rely on.

Gratz.

Don't judge if you are not informed. He is on Western Wolves now.
He was in the TSL semifinals and has beaten a lot of top koreans as well.

Lol you misunderstood my post. I wasn't sarcastic, I'm happy that he won, I would have prefered LucifroN but a terran is more than fine. And it's cool that just a B-teamer can beat this level of competition, that means the gap is still present.

I think Grubby would have a difficult time getting out of the groups if he was put in HerO's dreamhack group.

And you misunderstood him, he is trying to tell you that Sting is very good even among koreans and not just a B-teamer any more. So the gap is not as big as you make it sound (for a very small amount of foreigners).
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

I wouldn't consider playing vs. Slivko, Lucifron, Oz, Stardust, MC, Sting much easier than playing against Thorzain, Naniwa, ForGG, Snute, and Monchi. To each his own, I guess.

Considering how they all performed piss poor aside from HerO? Doubt it.

If we put Naniwa on Mc's level, Ret on Slivko's, Nightend ond Stardust's and Thorzain on Lucifron's he might have just topped his group, but it would not have been easy yes.

I do agree that HerO is the better player, I just wanted to object to your (in my opinion) gross exaggeration. I think we can do justice to both players without doing injustice to neither player
