They are a lovely part of the flexible and varied Terran toolkit. It's nice to see them used more in TvP.

Personally, I'm not very confident in ThorZaIN recently. He totally bombed out of NASL and has not been having the best results in most tournaments recently. Not implying EG Curse in any way.

Realistically, he hasn't been one since release. At any point of the SC2 timeline, one can find five non-koreans who were better than Ret. The BlizzCon EU qualifiers were unfortunately nothing more than an accident.
He was also slightly stronger earlier on because players hadn`t figured out his super heavy droning and let him get away with it. So his econ usually just gave him a big enough advantage. I think his style has been figured out for a long time now which is why he isn`t doing good at all anymore.
