Standard LR rules apply: No balance whining, no KeSPA vs. GomTV inciting, no excessive derailing ESPECIALLY when games are on. This is not a thread for you to argue with other people. |

I didn't know it was possible to like starcraft and dislike both TvZ and TvT

you guys are all pretty hyped for this, 15 pages and still 10 hours to go!

Taking player skill into account, my predictions are:
MVP 3-0 Rain Taeja 3-0 Life
|
Rain 3-2 MVP Taeja 3-2 Life

TvT, and TvZ?
You must either be lying or you haven't watched much Starcraft...

i honestly think rain vs mvp will be bigger than the finals. no offense to the tl star taeja or the rising zerg life but they are basically irrelavent atm.

Terran is my least played race and TvT is definitely the best matchup. It has by far the most variety and more action around the map than any other matchup. Aside from drops/harass all the other matchups are focused around 1 big engagement. TvT is the only matchup where you can split up big sections of your armies and move around the map. This is due to the huge defenders advantage that exists in TvT compared to other matchups.

if Last can go 3-0 on rain before crumbling horribly (and last doesn't have half the macro skill MVP does) MVP will shit on him. Back in 2010, Flash was in a situation very similar to what Rain is in right now. At the time Flash had qualified for both the OSL and MSL finals, and he was due to face a zerg in both. His opponent was Effort in the OSL and Jaedong in the MSL. Flash rolling over Effort, who had only barely gotten out of the group stage, was a foregone conclusion, and everyone was more concerned with hyping up the Flash vs Jaedong rematch of their infamous power outage series. Effort, however, had different plans and pulled off one of the most shocking upsets in Brood War history by coming back from down 0-2 and sweeping the rest of the series to take the OSL. Flash's aura of invincibility, buoyed by his astounding 80%+ winrate in TvZ the previous 10 months, was shattered. If Effort who was clearly inferior to Jaedong in every way could reel off 3 games against Flash then Jaedong surely would do even better right? Actually, Flash 3-0'd Jaedong in arguably the most lopsided series in their personal rivalry. Now, replace Flash with Rain, Effort with Last and Jaedong with MVP. Look a little familiar? The details are a bit different but the prevailing mood is the same. We might be seeing a little bit of deja vu tonight. Or then again we might not. I'm not making a prediction here, and in fact I'd actually prefer a TvX finals over a PvX finals. I'm just saying that contrary to popular belief progamers are humans not robots and transitive property doesn't work in SC2. Effort did get pretty lucky in those games, though. As I recall, it was like build order win, Flash moves out at the exact wrong second and gets surrounded, build order win. not all build order wins are luck based. ask yourself, why did this guy choose this build, and why didn't the other guy respond.

This semifinal is like a champions league; Real Madrid vs Barcelona, and Manchester United vs Chelsea.

It's always at least partially luck based. That's the nature of the game.

yeah Taeja has been taking all of the foreigner's money lately, he won like 3 foreign premiers in the past 3 months?

in foreign events he's definitely been in the spotlight more, just by sheer number of events he's been to. Mvp only went to IEM, and while he was in the spotlight there It's only one tournament vs 4 or 5.

Playing a semi-final a day after a semi-final? Go, Rain!
Hoping for more games than anything, 3-2 Rain.
3-1 TaeJa.

Terran 3-0 Rain Terran 3-0 Life

well, mvp has a damaged wrist, so he has to focus on few tournaments. kinda logical that he only focuses on the most prestigious ones... cant really hold that against him imho.
in general, i think that taeja's strength lies more in his super-solid standard play while mvp excels at preparing for a series. therefore, taeja is more suited for winning 1-3 day foreigner events that become a grindfest, while mvp is simply made for gsl/osl type of tournaments.

It's not long ago TaeJa was considered 'the best player' by a lot, and MVP hasn't done much since that period.
