Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first time we've seen a 0-3 to 4-3 reverse sweep in a major SC2 tournament?

I know it's never happened in the GSL, even though Squirtle and DRG both got close.

What's wrong with Bo7 ? You do understand that in BoX, the more you increase X, the more it rewards the most consistent and all-around good player right ?

(I'm still interested in Bo1 though, just not in the final stages of a tournament (past Ro32) ).

I agree with you, Bo7 is better for semi finals (than bo1). And yes, in general, a BoX to a higher number will lead to the more consistant player being the overall winner.

But on the flipside, winning a championship isn't about necessarily being consistant. It's about being able to play out the important ones when they count. If you made it a Bo101 games, for example, the issues of 'mind games' between matches would be to some extent eliminated because you simply can't prepare for that number of games in that way.

In some ways, that's a good thing - the more consistant player is more likely to win out. But it can make for a pretty boring series. Sometimes it's much better to see how the underdog can pull out a brilliant strategy designed for 3 or 5 games, etc, and upset someone that everyone knows would be better in the long run.

Every style has its merits. Personally I think semis are better as Bo5, because it makes a Bo7 finals seem a bit more epic in comparison. That said, for Rain's sake I'm glad it was bo7 today :D

In a major tournament, yeah. It's happened a lot of times in smaller matches like Fight Clubs and such though.

Symbol pulled off a 5-4 reverse all-kill in the team league, but in a major individual league game I think this is the first reverse sweep in a bo7 series (most leagues only the finals are bo7).

A Finale in Five

I personally feel that a Bo5 is more compelling from a spectator standpoint than a Bo7. Of course, there are extraordinary cases like Rain today, but most of the time Bo7s, I feel, just drone on a lot longer than it should.

the reason why osl usually opts for fewer games is because they are a television operation that has to fit the games into a tight time frame. they need to know how long these things probably will last and the tighter the interval the better.

I beg to differ. Bo7 really works on an asset not all players have, endurance.

People able to go through such long games and still keep a solid apir of balls (you know, like MVP, or Rain today) defintily deserve an edge on other players.

BTW, this run by rain reminds me so much of the T1 protoss star before him. BeSt made it to the finals of the OSL in his royal road attempt by coming back from 2 sets down against luxury. he then proceeded to lose to july in very distasteful fashion.

rain is more agile than best so i hope he does better this time around.

It has never happened in GSL.
There is no reverse-sweep from 0-3 to 4-3 in GSL.

The only one that achieve something similar to it was Symbol who reversed all-killed IM 0-4 to 5-4 during GSTL.

That's a great article but nowhere does it say a BO5 is better than a BO7. Plus, in literally any GSL Final other than Leenock vs Jackji, DRg vs Genius and (I suppose) MVP vs MMA it would have ended 3-0 if it wasn't a BO7 Series. Instead we got the epicness of Squirtle vs MVP and the above mentioned series were far more entertaining because of it as well. Would we have seen Genius's carrier build in a BO5? Doubtful.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

I should emphasize that this is my personal opinion, and while you like to see how each player endures through a long, grueling series and be sure that the BETTER player goes through, I prefer the more compelling stories that a Bo5 is better able to tell most of the time.

Both have their merits, and Bo7 certainly has shown its merit today.

I still prefer Bo5s myself, though.

Bo7 show who truly has the endurance and stamina to win the game.
It also shows how they truly played in a long series.

People think this series will pushed down Sun hype by a bit but i don't think so.
It just further proves Sun adapts really well over a long series and is a clutch player.

Also,Last is so underrated and deserves a fanclub at this point.lol
