Players will be competing in both Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm in best of 11 showmatches with the winner of each day taking home 500 Euros.

Friday Start Time: Friday, Oct 05 9:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Scarlett had to cancel and is being replaced by Sage Sage vs Titan Sage < TBA > TitaN + Show Spoiler +
Interesting games for sure. Don't really see Titan beating Scarlett in a long series, but I do expect Luci to give the great american hope a run for his money.
Nerchio vs Nani is probably the most debatable matchup, I'll go with Naniwa here for no good reason really.

I love you if only for calling Stephano the "great american hope."
But yeah, I'm more excited about the prize for the winner than the matchups honestly. Scarlett takes hers, I'm going with the gut and betting Stephano, then Nerchio.
its so awesome! fun fact: this tournament is sponsored by donations from taketv viewers, because they already organised a homecraft for mlg but mlg decided not to have an offline event this weekend so they needed stuff to watch
People are just there to have fun I think, like it says in the OP. He wanted to watch MLG originally but they changed their schedule so he improvised these showmatches. I could be wrong ofc.

are there gonna be free VODs of this? won't be able to watch Stephano vs Lucifron live cause of work which is the one i wanna see the most outta these :/
Maybe it's not sc2 tagged then. I chose sc2 only when TL added Dota and almost missed an event that way, so I chose to show all. It's almost sc2 only anyway so it's no biggie.
Edit: In the sidebar settings down to the right under the calendar and stuff.
I'd be more excited to see Stephano vs Nerchio. These two are clearly the two best EU zergs at the moment and a Bo11 between them would be very intense.
While that might seem like the most bm thing ever, you should remember they are friends. It's like destiny and catz talking shit and remember it's a showmatch, so Stephano makes a show .
On October 07 2012 01:52 Crazyahmed wrote: not sure what the dynamic between both players is, but if we go by the book could Lucifron claim a mapwin?
you can say gg whenever you want but the game ends when one player leaves or his buildings are destroyed. There is no rule that says you cant type gg and not leave
I'll be very surprised if Lucifron can win a Bo11 against Stephano considering their recent record. Before this series it was 7-2, in Stephano's favour, over the last month or so.
This game is fantastic and the casting is good, but the observing needs to be stepped up a bit. Things being missed on the minimap, staying in certain places or unnecessary places too long etc.
Lucifron lost because he made the wrong army comp for lategame. The raven part is fine but you're supposed to have at least 10 thors in that composition, because they work really well with the ravens against both lategame zerg tech trees.

It felt like, but Stephano played amazing. He managed to engage just the perfect way(because Stephano truly is, more than anything else, the master of engagements), to break the PF line, and managed to flank PFS. WHO DOES THAT?

not hard when you have 30 minutes to prepare for it

Yes
We you do the raven overkill yes. That first fight was a landslide in his favor but he had sooo much ravens it took too much supply. He could easily have done the same thing with half the ravens.
lmao at Frodan's strategy of dragging out the series against Stephano to the point of Stephano wanting to go to sleep and no longer caring about winning

It takes an incredibly long time for BCs to kill Ultralisks, it would have been as pitiful as the Ravens attempt at cleaning them up in a timely fashion before the production got camped.

Cmon now, surely they're better against ultras than autoturrets are

Actually auto Turrets are really good to obstruct Ultralisk movement. They will never kill the ultralisks but a few here a there will stop them from engaging your ground army.

Stephano says "I have no idea what's going on", attacks with the roaches anyway, Luci writes "I wanted you to build more lings" and then "gg" quickly afterwards.
could lucifron have fly a barrack (the top one) to the bottom empty space without noticing? this way he could have bring his svc back by the way around and then proceed on building the additional barrack

Felt like Lucifron's build there was really un-refined which is fair enough when you got nothing to lose but there was no window at any period he could of attacked

As far as I know Take sponsored the event, got the players and organized it in general. NASL just provided the cast. He did it for his Homecraft event which was planned to take during MLG Arena. With no Arena now he had to improvise.

Nerchio said that he really respects NaNiwa for staying so long in Korea, to which NaNi responded that he doesn't have any respect for Nerchio whatsoever. Then it went like Ne: "it's ok, I don't need it :D", Na: "ok, I'm sure you're super happy with your life" Na: "gg gl". Later Nerchio also praised NaNi for his hardworking.
That midgame fight didn't go well for Nani. I'm not sure if it was right for him go mass blink stalker against mass lings. Mixing some zealots, archons or more colossus would be more effective.

ZvP really is boring. ZvP is in an horrible state. Not talking about Naniwa who were never good in this match up (he was a beast in PvP and PvT), but i have the horrible impression that Protoss got nothing to counter Zerg's ultras.
It's either a passive game the protoss will end up losing or a two bases all-in which is boring to watch.

I actually enjoy this matchup. Its all about knowing the match up well. A good protoss player will always confuse his zerg opponent at the same time do light pressure so the zerg cant drone much and then hit him with different timings. And a good zerg will know what the protoss player is doing and wont fall for fake pressure. Its almost like poker

Don't most Protoss just 2 base all-in? Or macro on 3/4 bases and wait for the mothership Vs BL/infestor battle? Light pressure doesn't seem to work much anymore since like your said, the zergs have figured it out.
Great idea wow, combining two of the best tournaments! I'm excited to see if a demotivated Naniwa vs Nerchio.

Message for Take and the NASL dudes : why on earth did you make one of the best ZvP players play against one of the worst PvZ pro ? That was horrible and makes Naniwa looks way worst than he actually is.
Well, Naniwa should've sticked to his gimmicky play...now that he tries to play standard, his mechanical flaws shine most(not being able to macro properly at all...).

you are an idiot. Defending 2 base all ins is ridiculously hard if the Protoss knows how to force field. Also getting Broods is very hard with all the pre hive timings that destroy Zerg unless you build 3 millions spine crawlers and defend like a boss. Then once you get Broods 1 lucky vortex can lose you the game.
Playing against Protoss is like trying to throw a paper bag across a room.

Naniwa just does not know how to play vs zerg, it was just a bit sad to watch (and I like Naniwa, but this is no good). Anyway, you need a lot of archon vs zerg broodlord, and you need to stay on equal bases. Neither 3 base or stalker blink unders are enough anymore.

Mothership / Archon : Sure, it is good to call "counter" a unit which is only a counter if your opponent make a mistakes. In the last game, you saw Nerchio built some banelings so he didn't even have to split his broodlords. Stalkers : Lol. No. That's the only decent thing they have, but it's not a counter. Not at all. Carriers : I thought we all agreed that this unit was not worth mentionning EVER. The last time i saw it was in a Seed game. The time before ? One year ago. Void rays : What do you need to make Broodlords ? Corruptor. You know, that unit you have to make against Colossus and Motherships.
I'm not even a protoss player, i'm a terran players, and at least, we have some good options against zergs. Protoss have none.

Well nothing special is maybe a bit "too much" but it´s true. Nerchio and Stephano are probably the strongest Zs out there. With Stephano beeing better in ZvT and ZvP and Nerchio in ZvZ. And like I said in his Fanclub, he (nerchio) isn´t even a full-time-pro as far as I know. (I might be wrong)
Aww I missed it all. I'm a bit surprised by the results.. I thought Naniwa would take a game or two, but Nerchio winning easily is no surprise. Naniwa has never impressed me in PvZ despite having a few good results in the matchup here and there.

Gratz Nerchio
Stephano is in another league above Nerchio. He has improved his ZvZ to the point where he is better at all three matchups.
Also how are Korean Zergs nothing special? DRG is a monster and has won many MLGs. Life just doesn't lose anymore coming in 2nd at TSL4 and destroying in the GSL and GSTL. Violet and Symbol are consistent high performers at MLGs and the later being a GSL boss as well. Hyun has been on an online rampage winning in countless online cups as well as 7 straight fight club wins.
Just because Zerg is not doing very well in Korea doesn't mean Korean Zergs are not good.

Well it is obvious you have no clue what you are talking about, probably because you don't even play ZvP.

right? korean zergs are nothing special, they don't do well in tournaments, meanwhile nerchio and stephano are freaking monsters and owning everything left and right.
Gratz Nerchio
Yeah that's a bit of a stretch but Stephano really has the best mastery over lategame zerg, better than the korean zergs (I think better than life, symbol and hyun too). In terms of map awareness, army spread/positioning, infestor control, fungals, broodlord spread, engagements, flanking and knowing when and when not to attack, Stephano is the best. Some zergs can do all those sometimes, but that is in the dna of Stephano's gameplay. He will always prespread his BLs, he will always try to sneak in 2 burrowed infestors so that infested terrans can absorb tank fire, he will always engage with a two or three prong flank.

Stephano is in another league above Nerchio. He has improved his ZvZ to the point where he is better at all three matchups.
get real. Both Stephano and Nerchio are invited to code S. The gap is not that big, and its too early to say Stephano fixed his ZvZ for good. I agree Stephano has better mechanics and is probbably more consistent. I do enjoy Nerchios play more though. His smart play and metagaming is really fun to watch.

The gap isn't huge but it is hard to deny there is a gap. Also Nerchio is very unlikable as a person while Stephano is the opposite (not important to some people but it is to me).

Stephano has won around 5 times what Nerchio did...so the gap is pretty much huge.

Around three times. Also Idra has won about three times as much as Symbol and given the fact, that he is about three times as good as Symbol, money seems to be a pretty legit argument to determine skill. (Source)
No, seriously, Nerchio pretty much only attends european evevnts until now, that is the reason he is so far behind Stephano. Plus the event he got final apperiances ( HSC, IEM) aren´t as top-heavy as the ones, stephano placed well in.

I think there is a gap in skill between them, but it's silly to say it's huge. Take a look at TLPD's win percentage. Stephano has 68% and Nerchio is at 67%

Why is that stupid? Every reasonable person would agree that Stephano is way better than Nerchio both as a "character" and skill-wise, it would take a huge amount of bias to deny it...and don't consider it as an insult as i blamed your "patriotism" rather than your intelligence.

Your posts are just dumb Im sorry. He never said that Stephano is worse than Nerchio or on the same level. He just thinks that theres no huuuuugeeee gap in skill between these two players and I admit in that. Stephano is still more accurate than Nerchio but they both had great results and they are on top in foreigner list.
Your posts are dumb because u act like a blind fanboy. We are talking about skill level in game and u brought useful information about who is better character and stuff like "because u are Polish" is just ridiculous.
and yes Im Polish so you won a battle but u still surrender because u are French.

Let's say i'm jamaican and you're an american guy claiming that "Tyson gay" is the best sprinter of all times, Does me saying that Usain Bolt is actually the greatest make me some kind of patriotic shit because the discussion involves a jamaican and an american sprinter?
The answer is no(since it's a general consensus that Usain is vastly superior to Tyson due to their respective achievments) and you should be ashamed for making a comparison between them.

Tyson Gay is a USA track and field athlete, I believe you misread and may have missed his point.
These show matches were fun to watch. Definitely thought Naniwa would have done better, though he seemed on tilt after the first couple losses which is unfortunate.
Oh come on... Nobody said anything about Nerchio being better than Stephano! You french/canadian guys started this by claiming that "there's a huge gap between them"...

Sound comparison. Clearly:
* character differences are as clearly quantifiable as track results * the position of Stefano among SC2 players is akin to that of Usain Bolt among runners * claims about the size of a skill gap are as easy to define as the relative positions of runners in world rankings
Therefore, I have no choice but to succumb to your well-rounded and unshakeable arguments. Well done, good sir!

Sorry for thinking that your patriotism was the reason you spouted nosense, i should've questioned your intelligence instead. My bad.
I like Nani, but I really dislike his comments toward Nerchio. Nerchio seems to be a really nice guy and an amazing player, and it is very hard to disrespect him on anything. Even though most likely he said the things he said because he lost 0-6, it still isn't acceptable. On an other note, I would love to see the games, but I missed them T.T
