Indeed, even though I would have preffered Squirtle vs Parting

HOLY SHIT PVP FINALS!! HUHUHU! PROTOSS CHAMPION AT LAST!

Yeah, and a great probability of a disappointing final... There's chance that it goes well, but I don't know, GSL has seen terrible finals, and not in this match up....

I hope we will see the interesting part of PvP, and not the luck - BO loss - coinflip side...

Hey, at least Seed and MC are both insanely confident and charismatic. Maybe the winner will do a FBH and jump into the ocean.

I see the hated MMA math is now becoming ESPORTS math.

Please people, realize that just because someone lost to a player, and than beat another player, doesn't mean that those two players can be compared. There are way to many differences in play style, match-up, venue, etc etc to compare. I know most of you are probably trolling but please can we keep from doing it.

Seed vs MC is a super interesting match up. All odds point to MC as a favorite. He's the protoss president, he's already a two time GSL winner, he's a fucking boss and just comes to kill his opponents. Seed is a first time finalist, hell isn't he a first time guy getting past the ro16? He hasn't been praised as gods next gift to sc2. The only real thing he has going for him is he's on LG-IM, the best team hands down in the GSL.

But I think Seed is the favorite going in. His mistakes against Byun weren't so much as chokes as they were just bad play, and I think it'll be harder for MC to put him in that position. It's rare for PvP to force those type of situations, and MC in particular likes the more direct style of PvP from what I've seen. Seed actually had really good micro and control in direct fights, especially in the early game.

More importantly, Seed has shown he doesn't tilt. If Mc is the president of coming to kill people, Seed is the president of just not giving a fuck about his situation. I know I'm echoing the write up, but he just seems utterly confident in his ability to play. He showed he is really good at adapting to a situation. In game 3 he completely got destroyed by those drops, game 4 the drops did a bit of damage, but he managed to win anyways, and in game 5 he actually shut down Byun in every step of the game.

I don't know, MC should beat Seed. He has almost every advantage. I just think Seed's going to become our second Protoss champion. If MC wins, there is actually a decent chance we may not see a second protoss champion in WoL, which would be a pretty cool claim for MC, being the only protoss champion.

Listen to the latest ItG for Idra's interpretation of PvZ at NASL, it makes a lot of sense given the results, and the way Protosses played throughout the weekend.

Seed wins another Bo5 by being more resilient and letting his opponent choke to death. Frankly, both Symbol and Byun are probably better players, and the way both matches went down really shows the importance of mental fortitude with stakes as high as these. Impressive how Seed always kept it together, even when behind and on the verge of elimination, especially since it's the first time he advanced past the Ro16.

And about DRG, I kind of expected this to happen. He looked very shaky in his recent ZvPs - against Naniwa he should've won 3-1, but threw away the game on Ohana, got saved by Naniwa's move command on Entombed, and then nearly lost the final game too. Way too close for the best player in the world against someone who loses to foreigner Zergs at times. Then in the OSL group. he should've lost to San, but the latter forgot to research charge for his 3 base timing. I dunno what's up with that, his ZvP looked amazing as recent as the MLG Spring Championship. In any case, he kept playing kind of mediocre today, and that's nowhere near enough to beat MC.

Hopefully we don't get too many war of the worlds games in the finals.

Well, you could argue that Seed choked in game 2 and 3. He lost to a basic hellion drop and then to a 2 pronge hellion/marine push at a pretty standard timing and knowing hellions were out on the map. The entire series was basically Byun applying heavy pressure and if Seed defended well he would win. He actually didn't defend well in game 4 but Byun threw the game with the scvs pulls. So it would be hard to argue that Byun is a better player.

I'm not necessarily arguing from this series alone, just a general impression from the last month or so. Besides, Seed said in his interview that he didn't choke, and that Byun's attacks/drops came at weird timings that he wasn't used to. This is why, for instance, he pulled his units to the front in game 2 shortly before the drop arrived.

Now that you mention it, I think IM is the first team to have all three races in a final, and is quite close to having a champion amongst them aswell...

I did, just look at how DRG got to the round of 4. By loosing every possible game he could but advancing. He was hardly dominant in any regard.

Thats why i was puzzled by how many people were picking Drg to win. It was like they were just assuming because Drg made it through, that he was still playing at his level of a couple months ago.

I personally really enjoy PvP. I'm super pumped for this finals. I just hope it isn't a walkover for MC. I want him to win, but I hope Seed puts up a really good fight. Here's to the first PvP finals of the GSL and a new protoss champion!

MC played amazing last night and DRG seemed quite a bit off. MC was the better player tonight. MC lost to DRG in spring championship.

People stating that Stephano is better then DRG. I feel isn't a great argument due to the way the tournaments are ran. One is 3 day event. Another is a week off to study your opponent before you play them. I feel if MC had a week prepare for stephano it would be a different story. I do think MC is a better player at GSL type events where as DRG and Stephano are better then MC at MLG & NASL events where it is a 3 day straight event.

Startale did it first.

Open S1: Rainbow
GSL March: July
2012 S2: Squirtle

And they all loss.

For IM, it's:

Open S2: Nestea
GSL January: Mvp
2012S S3: Seed

And IM won both of theirs.

well the good thing about forums is that, everybody has there own opinion. And its never facts.

My opinion is that it does matter who is better between MC/Stephano/DRG. On a good day all 3 of them could crush the competition like no ones business.

In my opinion

-Stephano and Drg have about equal ZvP in terms of strengh, some days stephano looks unstoppable zvp and some days DRG looks unstoppable zvp

-The old stephano I would have said is terrible against Terran, But the new Stephano ( since ipl 4) has been on an incredible run against terran, like literally the only series he has dropped since then was against marineking.. He is silently an absolute monster in ZvT right now. So again i would say Stephano and DRG are about the same good against Terran .

Where the difference comes is ZvZ.. I think DRG is like the best ZvZ player in the world, so if stephano goes head to head against DRG , i dont think he will win.

So in essence i would say DRG is a tiny bit better of a player than stephano , only because of his ZvZ.

To be on topic now, congrats Mc/Seed. It was a long time coming for a new protoss champion. Sad zealot club should be officially closed now.

Is GSL overrated? I'd like to know everyone advice because MC lost to foreigners in his two last foreign tourneys. Why should we consider that a prepared match takes more skill than a not prepared one when there is money on the table for both? You can be unlucky on one serie or have a bad day but it's not different for GSL or 3 days tourneys.

A PvP final is like a dream come true. PvP at the highest level with the highest stakes has the potential to teach a LOT of new stuff about the matchup, and both players are great PvPers. PvP is my favorite mirror to watch now; it's going much longer than it used to, has the perfect balance of aggression early on with macro later on, and has an insane number of legitimately viable openers. I admit, I don't like mirror matches in finals, but if it had to be one, I'm glad it's PvP. GoMTvT had it's year and change, and ZvZ is just boring to watch unless you play Zerg. Plus a Protoss GSL champion will probably put a damper on Toss whining about being weak, and any reduction of whining is a good thing IMO.
