There's still a lot of really good players in this event even in there aren't any EG players. I'm still going to watch and support IPL and root on a lot of the other players, qxc, minigun, suppy, Illusion, ViBe, Nony, NadaViking!

The player list is still looking fucking AWESOME!

They should try them during the week, TSL qualifiers have mainly been done during the week and have been successful.

the problem is that there are many TSL qualifiers, each with 1 spot + more by points.
there is ONE ipl5 qualifier for 8 spots in one go.

if you think about it, for any given single TSL qualifier, there were people that couldn't make it. if TSL only had ONE qualifier like IPL seems to have, there's bound to be people who can't make it. it's just that IPL has chosen to have only one qualifier, hence the scheduling problem.

if they had a weekday qualifier there's still bound to be many who can't make it.

i'm thinking a good idea would make THIS qualifier for 6 spots. then have another american one for 2 spots on a weekday next week maybe for anyone who complains. of course this would be a logistical nightmare, but it would be a good compromise.


It wouldn't be particularly good compromise for the players who finish 6-8 this weekend... but that's just how it is; there are tons of players who can't make any event. There are going to be players who can't make your proposed supplemental qualifier either. Sure maybe IPL should adopt TSL's qualifier system, everyone can learn from their mistakes: remember the outrage when MKP was left out of TSL 3 - *and* there was no Korean/Asian qualifier?

This was announced months ago, IIRC when MLG announced their dates, people noticed that MLG looked to be almost intentionally setting their dates over other events. So do people really expect IPL to subserve themselves to other events?

I don't really know the entire story here, but so far it sounds more like EG's manager knew they couldn't go so didn't tell their players, since only EG players are publicly complaining about the dates...

Satellites are different from Regionals. The regional was already played and I believe Demuslim Sleep got the free trip and hotel reservations.

Edit: Got the winner wrong, it was Sleep, not Demuslim. Thanks CosmicSpiral.

Satellites are different from Regionals. The regional was already played and I believe Demuslim got the free trip and hotel reservations.

Not everyone can participate in all tournaments that just the way it is. Sorry for the players that are missing but you cant expect for a tourney to move their dates because other tourneys are happening especially when they scheduled first

They are excluding the best players of AN ENTIRE COUNTRY.

If this were during the USA WCS (say it's on a different weekend than MLG), this thread would've exploded with anger.

I am pretty sure that he understands that big names make big viewership for tournaments, but I really think people need to stop thinking that every single tournament is going to cater to them.
