More like Naniwa got knocked out early and was sitting behind him watching all his PvP builds. Pretty grimy if you ask me, but that's just how Naniwa is. I am surprised he has so many fans but it makes sense because most people wouldn't be his fan if he wasn't winning. Come on now, I can understand if you're not a fan, but this... have some dignity please You thinks that's respectful? Right before your code S match you go and sit directly behind the person you are facing and watch how he plays? Of course genius is going to be using the same builds as Code S because he is trying to qualify for OSL. It's disgusting. I think this might be the stupidest thing I've ever read. It's actually hilarious. Hahaha, yes Naniwa really is a 'grimy' little sneak. It was probably his plan all along; really it's brilliant in it's intricacies. If only Genius had known that Naniwa was sat there, if only there was some way he could have stopped him.. 10/10
Gotta agree with this rofl. Anyone who thinks Naniwa didn't know exactly how Genius played before these games is a delusional hater anyway. I don't even like Naniwa's personality, but hes a damn good player and seeing people try and take away from that isn't cool.
WP Nani, flying the flag.

What exactly am i supposed to be looking at to determine if he had range?

I just realized NaNiwa vs Genius continued the trend of the loser of the first match coming back to win in the rematch... I really feel like this happens almost every time! I gotta crunch the numbers one day.

If your opponent makes a mistake that loses him the match, then it is NOT luck. You simply played better, because you did not make a mistake...sheesh...He did not research Thermal Lance, how can you still expect Genius to win...Genius had multiple blunders, terrible positioning, and bad decision making in the fight...Sure he did some things well, but I don't care how good you macro, mistakes like that are going to get punished at this level, and Naniwa deserved the win. No it's not, it's pure luck. Absolutely 100% luck. There is definitely a large part of Sc2 and all sports where if you play really well it makes your opponent look really bad and you can force errors. For example in football if you're a team who presses the ball high up if forces the opposition defence into errors because they are rushed on the ball. This game was absolutely not one of those situations. This game was the equivalent of a defender it back to the goalkeepers who then trips on the grass and the ball rolls into the net. There is no skill in that, there is nothing you've done to cause it. Just like there was no skill on Naniwa's part to make Genius forget Thermal Lance. It was all on Genius. Naniwa lucked out completely in a game he otherwise looked likely to lose. so butt hurt (LOL). He won when it mattered, by having better positioning in their engagements so his collossi did more damage than Genius' did. That last push in game 3 was beautiful positioning by Naniwa; he had so many archons up front buffering that the moment Genius tried to push in and kill Naniwa's collo, his army clumped and Naniwa mopped it up from there. I can understand frustration at player you support losing (gogo Hero you got it next time!) but try to remember....being loud and denying everything everyone else says does not make you right.
Possibly less that the player he supported lost than...

Well. Yeah.
Regardless, there may be a large part in SC2 of forced errors, but to simply say that unforced errors are luck is a weird way to look at things. Essentially the argument appears to be, Naniwa is lucky Genius didn't play better. Well no shit. If we're arguing that wins from unforced errors are lucky or in some way less deserved, then we're actually arguing some weird causality shit. All that really matters is that one player made a huge blunder and the other one didn't, and therefore he played better, when it counted. Winner, loser. Maybe if Naniwa had done a different opening in game 2, he would have crushed Genius. Who knows. There is always, always, always an element of luck and randomness, and it's completely pointless to even discuss who is lucky and when because it doesn't actually matter at all. Who cares? Why bring it up? Are you really going to try and argue that he doesn't deserve to have won? If not, why are you even mentioning it?*
It's all academic of course because we all know and have seen that Naniwa can 'outplay' Genius without unforced errors. And for the record, the continued vocal dislike for Naniwa from certain posters combined with his continued success gives me considerable smug pleasure.

Im trying to say, it is a HUGE mistake therefore it kinda makes sense, that he lost? We're not saying it isn't Genius's fault, in fact, he deserved to lose a game like that for making that mistake; but it wasn't anything that Naniwa had control over, Naniwa didn't initiate any godly strategy or anything to make Genius not upgrade Thermal lance. So some of us are just telling the people going "omgz!! Naniwa godly micro!! so good!!" to chill out, he was literally behind the whole game, and won because of Genius's rookie mistake. Well, the game was very close. I guess Naniwa was a little bit behind by not by far. Sure Naniwa did win that game thx to Genius not having range, but it is far from certain that Naniwa would have lost to Genius just because of range. Naniwa had his third more then a minute before Genius and well range is not free either so. Well the point is it was far from decided in either direction. Dammit this is a live report thread. how dare you make a concise, clear and well reasoned argument that would put a stop to the senseless bickering from pissed off fans
Yeah I know, should try to blend in more.
FUCK YEAH NANIWA, CRUSH THAT NOOB ASS KOREAN. SAY HI TO CODE B FROM ME GENIUS <<<<<<<<<<<<<<!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IF YOU PICK NANIWA YOU DESERVE TO GET CRUSHED YOU STUPID NOOOOB!! MOST ONE SIDED GAME AAAAAVVEERRRR!!!

I'm not sure there is an icon for thermal though, isn't it supposed to be grayed out when it's not upgraded?

That's the icon for cliff walking.

Just tested it in unit test map, there is no icon showing up when you upgrade thermal lance in the collosi UI.

I googled for a bit and was afraid it might be the case. They should definitely fix that.

Without any comment regarding wether anyone deserved to loose or not (frankly they both made mistakes) I find it retarded that the 3/3 army can loose a battle in 3 seconds against the 3/1 army. Frankly strictly as an observer (I have never played protoss above gold league) PVP is a very strange matchup culminating in a stupid standoff situation.
Obviously Naniwa positioned his army correctly and targeted correctly, but it just feels wrong to me that you can be so behind in upgrades and still win an engagement so decisively just by getting 1 salvo correctly. It just reinforces my opinion that the colossus is the worst designed Unit in the entire game.
