2. You must have chosen to participate in the EU/NA Qualifiers to the exclusion of the KR Qualifiers.
3. You cannot be a national and resident of Korea.
4. You must be be registered and logged into your TL account to register and play.
5. Fill in your account details in your TL profile. Make sure they are correct for the server (EU or NA).

In TSL3, three of the semi-finalists in the first TLOpen finished in the semi-finals of the TSL itself! This TLOpen could foreshadow everything! Check TL's YouTube Channel for the previous casts of all the past TSL qualifiers (for nostalgia) and all TLOpens!

Tournament Size
The bracket will be open to 1024 players.

Maps and Rules
Map pool is Antiga Shipyard, ESV Cloud Kingdom, Daybreak, Entombed Valley, Korhal Compound TE, Metropolis LE, and ESV Ohana. The map line-up will be released along with the bracket. For specific information as to the changes made to the maps, please see the map announcements thread. For easy reference: Antiga is cross-spawn only, and horizontal spawns have been disabled on Entombed. No other spawns are changed.

Only host games on maps tagged "TSL4" authored by "TSLAdmin" on the EU Server, and "Plexa" on the NA Server.

Making on fake TSL4 maps authored by unknown users may compromise the result of the game, and at the very least will lead to a colossal mess.

Round of 32 Best-of-3
The Round of 32 for this tournament and future TSL4 EU/NA qualifiers will be best-of-3. The last best-of-1 round will be the Round of 64.

Bit confused about how the 'Notable players' section is being done since it is missing some pretty major people from the 'non-notable' list including Sheth, Trimaster and DarkForce at just a quick glance.

edit - I'm just stupid. Didn't realise they were in both lists.

You have a number wrong in the post's big heading: "TSL Qualifier #1: EU/NA #1".
I wonder if Dreamhack heroes will be able to play. Especially MaNa who already gathered 52 points (8th place in ranking).

Feels like it's probably too close for both qualifiers this week. We'll see, but it feels like maybe some will appear tomorrow whilst most miss this week as a whole.

Lalush is the first to secure qualifier points. It's the third time he earns points so it's almost certain that he'll be in the TSL4.

Sattini is good but he's not in his best form. I think that Elfi, Naama and Welmu are all better right know (maybe even Protosser). VortiX is probably the second/third best from Spain.

Oh yeah, that's actually true. Thanks for reminding that we actually have more players than Satiini and Naama these days. (Those guys have been around so long I forgot the newer pros). Both Elfi and Welmu have actually had some very good results recently.

I think Socke will go very deep in this qualifier. This time he should be well rested (not just returned from MLG) and his bracket is not that difficult either. I would say he will at least go Ro8.

I have to honestly say this is the first time I ever hear about Vortix. But if he is as good as you say he will definitely be a good player to follow. If he beats Hasu he will most likely meet Happy, who is a Terran.

He is a ex-brood war player , used to play for Spain-B national team back in the days... he's probably the best Spanish protoss in SC2. Now he plays for the Spanish National Team and Team myR.

Im just bad mid masters player with like 50 apm. I just crushed 4 zergs in a row with same build. It was still very surprising to beat pro level player. My build i s something like pressure into 3 base mech -> max -> push and take 4th. Im glad mycerion got very easy opponent to round 32 because of me.

He got points in both of the last qualifiers. Now again. He's from Estonia. He's Protoss. He's an underdog.

I don't know anything else about him.

Care to link the Goody vs Toxic stream, Iezael?

I can't recall ever hearing of "ToT)KnowMe(" before, but he's knocked out NightEnd and now Strelok, which is pretty notable.

And if he is in Templars of Twilight (correct me if i'm wrong) then he must at least be appreciated by the old-school pros.

Ah that's what it is. Sorry, I had it open and only ever saw his room, so I guessed he took a break or something. Didn't know it was supposed to be streamed there.

Thanks!

Well done, Vortix.

If he doesn't get too many Zergs, he has a decent shot at winning this.

What's happening with Goody. Last I saw he was listed as 0-1 down on zander's stream and he's jumping to Sase vs Trimaster since nothing seems to be happening with game 2? Maybe I misunderstood

e: or well he was trying to, Sase doesn't want his games streamed.

Guess that leaves foreign Terran pride in the hands of Trimaster...only got to overcome Sase to make the quarters!

I don't understand why more Americans don't participate in these. Like Incontrol for example. He could be like Ro16 or Ro8 in every qualifier and because of that, he could have a very good chance to make it to the actual tournament. And that would be awesome.

Actually not a troll at all. He could easily gain some valuable qualifyer point if he just participated. Just like Idra or MAchine.

Thorzain, Naniwa, Kas should be qualified from last season. Nerchio already won. I'd say that only top EU player who is missing, is Stephano but it might be caused by dreamhack travels.

You are only missing the concept of TOP.

Naniwa is already in + Thorzain.

All the other top europeans are competing despite Stephano.

And about americans, Sheth and Nony are playing while the EG guys are not and i dunno why.

Thanks. Completely forgot about Dreamhack. I just wondered why players like Ret, Dimaga, Stephano, Brat_OK, fraer, MaNa and Titan were turning down this opportunity.

i saw that today but he is refering to the TOP so he might not want to know about lzgamer :D

Nony isn't TOP either and you listed him. They will most likely not qualify anyway, but it's still nice to see them play in here.

Relatively few Europeans playing today is almost completely due to Dreamhack.

I guess most good players are on their way back from DH, GESL and Starswar.

Thanks. Completely forgot about Dreamhack. I just wondered why players like Ret, Dimaga, Stephano, Brat_OK, fraer, MaNa and Titan were turning down this opportunity.

Ret has been playing in them.

Also I have to say that I am impressed with DF's performance in these qualifiers. He went considerably deep into some of them. That's impressive when you consider the fact that he has been playing Diablo III only for some weeks.

God I hope MaNa qualifies. I know he's not playing today, but I hope he makes it for the tournament.

What a huge breakout he's had IMMEDIATELY after starting full time play.

Nony SHOULD be in the top and I think pretty much everyone everywhere would agree with that. And Stephano should also be participating but I guess he is just chilling and waiting for the next qualifier that would fit his schedule the best. As to why Idra, Incontrol, Machine, Kiwikaki and Demuslim etc have not participated, I have no idea. They definitely should. Even though monetarily it might not be the biggest tournament out there, it IS actually the biggest tournament as regards to the community and I guess the sponsors should and will also notice that, sooner or later.

Basically, if you have not qualified for TSL4, you don't really matter.

I did. Had noticed his results some months before.

Tsl3 was an exception from 1 and 2. Did like 1 and 2 more though becouse of no invites except from top 3. More fun with some new talents.

Also, TSL3 had a lot of invites (Korean top players) and TSL4 will not have that. If you look at the list of qualified players to TSL3 you will find ZeeRax, Ciara, Cruncher (unknown at the time), etc.

That's the beauty of the TSL´s. Embrace it (and pay respects to Mycerion ).

Eh, most of the "big" names were pretty unknown before TSL3. No one had any idea who ThorZain or NightEnd were. Goody and AdelScott were known to be good, but no one expected them to actually take games. Same goes for Cruncher.

One of the big problems for up and comers is they have no way to actually GET TO the big tournaments. If these no names have good break out performances then there is a good chance we will start seeing more of them after the event.

Plus, look at all the names from TS3 that have absolutely fallen off the map. Many of them, like Mondragon and Fruitdealer, are just plain gone, while many others (whom I won't mention by name), are still around but are a shadow of their former glory. There is no question that this TSL will be far more competitive.

You might be right about there being less famous players though, but again, TSL is where players GET famous.

Tell that to Nestea/MVP/etc.

TSL4 is big and I'm excited, but by no means is it a "must participate" tournament. I don't see Stephano participating today and I think most people would agree he's the top foreigner who hasn't already qualified (so we can avoid the Naniwa/Stephano arguments).

It's not like people are killing themselves to participate in all the qualifiers either. Grubby isn't playing today (played the first two), others have skipped here and there.

To be honest the monetary value of the top prize is not nearly as comparable to those of other tournaments, which either have significantly larger cash prizes or significantly shorter time periods (eg. MLG).

Yes, he's definitely harbouring some dislike over a tournament that happened years ago, even though he participated in the subsequent tournament...

Simply put it's not really worth the effort for some of the top players (eg. Idra, Stephano) - the rigorous number of qualifiers and strict procedures just to get in make it kind of unappealing. It's great for others though who are willing to put the time into playing 8 qualifiers or whatever to try and hit the main draw.

lol jeeze the swedes getting upset. Obviously he didn't mean that literally, the people on Prae knew who Thorzain was, his mother knew, etc.

The point is 99% of the casual public in TL wouldn't recognize Thorzain as any good until TSL3 happened.

Yes, and you should not actually make that statement for a couple of reasons. 1) The qualifier was open for everyone and everyone smart and good enough who thought that would be easy money and did/will actually participate in the qualifiers (including all the pros). 2) If a player makes it to TSL4 through the qualifiers then he is certainly good enough try to compete with the other players who made it through the qualifiers or were invited.

So overall, after all the Ro512 qualifiers are done you can be pretty sure that the players who are left and will make it to the tournament will actually be extremely good, even if you might not recognize their names.

I honest to god hope you don't mean that literally. I've known the guy since his early WC3 days.

I honest to whatever hope you either don't know what literally means or that you're not serious...

You make a fair point, but that just gives me more reasons to root for the no name players participating in this tournament and more respect for their effort.

Yes and no. All of the well known players in TSL3 were eliminated in the first round except MC, Naniwa, and Boxer (well, and Nada I suppose but he took out TLO in the first round).

Many players made their mark WITH TSL3 though: Thorzain, Kas (he was known in Europe but most of us North Americans hadn't heard of him), Cruncher...

I guess that's not that many actually. Okay nevermind, scratch that thought. At the very least the Korean Qualifier is living up to it's potential so far
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

Beastyqt is in point range. Cloud Goody Fenix and Dragon are right outside. If they play in more qualifiers they can qualify on points even if they dont end up winning

tbh this is not a surprise to me. The spanish national team finished 3rd/4th in the Country Championship Series (Losing to Poland 2-3 in a very close series).
Players like LucifroN,VortiX and AlaStOr can play face to face vs anyone... also MikOeL,ToXiC,LoLvsxD,HoBBiT....even me XD!

The only bad point here is that we dont play too many tournaments....so..we are very unknow...

Anyway, gogo VortiX and ToXiC @Final !

Yeah I can't see him not qualifying at this point. He's at 182 and the top 8 ends at 60.

There's still some Terran hopes in points. Goody and Beasty are in the top 8 right now, Cloud, TriMaster, Dragon and Fenix aren't terribly far behind.

At least Kas would have qualified for sure. Same as Nerchio, you can't hold ten online tournaments and not expect them to win at least one.

Yes, I'm seriously cheering for VortiX over SaSe. Would be just so glad to see VortiX really growing more in the scene. He definitely needs more recognition.

Terran only wins right now in series/tournaments where you specially prepare for opponents playstyles or the player is just flatout better skillwise than his competition. Standard-play of Terran just gets crushed in even matches.

It's probably just karma for all the Terran domination in GSL since the dawn of time... but still. I like me ma Terrans (best mirror match ever!), and they ain't been doin so well lately

Anyhow, go Sase!

I always considered Fruitdealer a bit of a fluke. Yeah, he took the tournament, but everyone else in the top four, and most of the top eight if I recall correctly, were Terran

Who won the second season?

Also, GSL was weird back in early days, a lot of players that weren't actually that good. Didn't really get into groove until around the time that, well, MVP started winning, lol

I would have said ClouD, Happy and LucifroN would get past some no-name Zergs (no offense) for sure, but once again they're out. It would be a massive achievement for Kas to win a TSL4 qualifier under current conditions

First open seasons were won by Zergs and Protoss, first GSL won by a terran was by MVP, GSL january 2011. That horrid, horrid series vs MKP.

u dont simply hold that build... i mean its not even a real build, you just build 2/3/4/5 immortals, couple of sentries and attack whenever you want to

Completely dead. If SaSe had attacked 15 seconds later, maybe not. But he lost a base, tons of drones and was slightly behind on supply against a Protoss with units right on top of his eggs.

The fact that SaSe just had 5 immortals out at 10:00 minutes is insane. Against Stephano at MLG on Metropolis, he only had 4 in his unit composition with 7 gates @ 10:30 in-game time. Either he really refined the build or he cut some corners.

This looks exactly how DRG's ZvP's look. DRG always branches his army and snipes nexii.

Why didn't Vortix make some spines with his 1,000+ excess minerals when he saw an all in was the only thing that could beat him?

at the end he traded so extremely cost inefficiently, he was trowing away so many resources that it was not worth the nexi i think, multiple instances of losing 15 roaches without killing more then 1 unit.
at the last battle they had similar army supply, that means sase probably had atleast 30 percent higher army value considering roaches high supply cost

Because he spent an army to kill the nexii and spines are great but when you don't have an army then colossus will take care of them pretty easily.

Anyhow, go Sase!

I always find this comments funny, because Zerg won the two first GSLs.

I always considered Fruitdealer a bit of a fluke. Yeah, he took the tournament, but everyone else in the top four, and most of the top eight if I recall correctly, were Terran

Who won the second season?

Nestea.

Hm... OK, well, maybe not so much Terran domination.

Regardless, I hope TSL gets some Terran =)

Pink takes Toxic 2-0

A single Zerg going far is like the story of like every GSL.

Holy shit. It all makes sense now...

lol

Sase's proxy works and takes the first game from Pink. C'mon Sase, finish him!

I don't want to be that guy at all but who's Pink? I'm just afraid of maphacks and stuff considering recent incidents. I mean who's pink? He has no liquipedia page.

Didn't think of it at all until he scouted SaSe's gate (which isn't that weird but)

He is a high masters Protoss player, I know him from ladder and talking a bit to him. Really doubt he is a maphacker... hes a pretty nice young Danish guy and he has a lot of potential.

I used to share clan with him for a while Really solid protoss who had problems with PvT in the past. His highlight apart from this is 2-0'ing BoxeR in the NASL 3 reg season qualifiers.

I'd be VERY shocked if he was a map hacker btw. Really mannered guy.

He scouted for proxies again this game.

Not exactly proof that he's not cheating, but I'd give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

He scouted for proxies on every map so I doubt he's a maphacker ( in previous series ) .

Just take a look at the bracket, Pink had quite some luck cos he only had to win PvP against Socke somehow and after that only "nonames". I wouldn't worry

Just wanted to say that I really love this format. Huge bracket with both known and unknown players multiple times a week leading up to a final big tournament. Really cool, thumbs up :D

Just take a look at the bracket, Pink had quite some luck cos he only had to win PvP against Socke somehow and after that only "nonames". I wouldn't worry

I swear if everytime a no name makes it far in a tsl qualifier and i accused of hacking that is going to be super annoying. I am pretty sure TL would look into it if they had any suspicion at all (also realize admins are in the later rounds and would notice weird stuff if the other player was blindly countering or something).

im happy for sase but as a protoss player im getting saddened by all these 2 base plays lately in PvZ. It used to be my favorite matchup by far due to its diversity and different tactics, but lately its so dull. Either 200/200 roach, 2 base all in from toss, or if it gets past those stages end up being camp till mothership/deathball vs brood infestor. I hope the metagame changes.

Besides the replays are all posted for the community and we've already seen that we have some great replay analyzers here so if someone is hacking (they're not) then they'll be caught by someone sooner or later.

Congrats to Sase! On the one hand he didn't have the hardest bracket, but on the other hand he definitely deserves more success considering how hard he works in Korea. Best of luck to him in the main tournament!

So many players no one ever heard of. It was like this last time as well. All the good players end up playing in the 2-3 last qualifiers, failing to qualify because lack of points.

He is a high masters Protoss player, I know him from ladder and talking a bit to him. Really doubt he is a maphacker... hes a pretty nice young Danish guy and he has a lot of potential.

Okay, again not accusing him. Just weird someone completely unknown and not even GM getting this far But good for him!

being GM means absoloutly nothing at all! :S

TSL Qualifier #4: EU/NA #3
Qualifier for TSL4
Tournament will be played on the EU Server

from the OP?

And even if it was NA, it's a combined qualifier so it should be a time that both can work with... If you start at US 17.00 thats just unfatomable for EU.

who is pink ?

sad that no americans have made it past the quater finals yet in any of the qualifiers... not even in the US qualifierss

hope that roof and dbs can qualify by some high placing so we (especially the germans i guess ) will finally see them at international events
sad that DBS lost to a P allin again
he always loses to protoss allins in online tournaments #

Mycerion and Pink, you are my heroes! So go, go, go make points to qualify!!
We don't ask many points, just enough to be the TSL 4 underdogs!

(But are you the Danish Pink I trained with on Shakuras like 6 months ago, for some PvZ? If so, twice more encouragement! gogogo, you will kill them all)
