Tournament Information
+ Show Spoiler [Map Pool (*new release*)] +1) Every set starts with game 1 on "The Boneyard". After game 1, the winning team declares 1 map that they refuse to play, after hearing the winning team's veto, the losing team picks a 2v2 ladder map and game 2 is played on that map. 2) The process listed above is repeated every game until the series is decided. 3) No map can be played more than once. (bo3 = 3 maps, bo5 = 5 maps) 4) All games must be played on an official Blizzard version of a CURRENT ladder map. 5) gl HF
Tournament RaidCall ID: 4792658 Number of Teams: 50 (100 Players) Server: North America Prize Distribution: 1st = $100, 2nd = $50, 3rd = $30 ($10 will go to 2 lucky viewers - explained below). 3rd place will be determined by who has better win rate between #3 and #4. Yes, its way better for hosting a tournament than a Bnet channel. It takes less than 1 minute to get it, so its not a big deal and makes our job as tournament admins a lot easier.
|
raidcall is pretty awesome, anyway.
|
Also, is there any map pool that you're specifically going to be using? o:
|

I will be studying which maps are the most balanced / best to play and designating what will be played for each round. But all maps will be ladder maps.
|
I'm bout to call it a night and go to bed but get signed up soon as possible so I can start the seeding process :D
|
|
And feel free to join the RaidCall group, I'll be chillin in there at least afk and able to communicate with all of you leading up to the event. It can be kind of like a community Skype call.

This seems pretty cool but I can't make this tournament. Will there be more tournaments in the future?

Ya this is a partnership with RaidCall that hopefully will yield a lot more events. Although if this won't fill up we will have to change it to a 1v1 event :/
We expected there to be more people who wanted an opportunity to compete in a high level 2v2 event since there aren't any, but we can't have a tournament with 5 teams so might have to make it a $200 1v1 event if registration doesn't pick up soon.

What time is the tournament CEST?

Nice to see a 2v2 tourney. NMx is a sick clan and NMxHendralisk is a beast!

What is Western? Western is not a time zone.

Like Western, I guess PST is what you are looking for? Pacific Standard Time? I dunno, where I live they just call it Western time. But I'll change the OP to 6:00pm PST (Pacific Standard Time).

Keep the signings coming guys and try and spread the word if you know any good 2v2ers. I need enough teams in this to justify to the sponsor that I can run it without having to switch it to 1v1 ^^
I will need to switch it to 1v1 probably tomorrow night if more teams don't sign up.

well 2on2 is not that popular and the other problem is that people from europe or asia servers need a NA acc to play the tourney

But if more people dont sign up, it's gonna be cancelled and turned into a 1on1 tour. So better spread the tournament.

6PM NA = 3:00 AM EU , Right?

Yeah, that's a pity. Personally, I think it would have been better to put this as a sponsored thread I can speak from experience. It would get a lot more views and hype from there.
I know it would cost another benjamin, but i think it would be worth the effort. Plus, Raidcall would easily get more publicity that way.

Thats so true. - But now we just need to help and spread the tournament.

ChosenSC2 u can also add it to TL tournament tracker, then more ppl might see this.
|
Are double race combos allowed?
|
since its not a regular thing it won't get out. you might want to lower prize pool and make it aregulr thing if you want this thing to succeed.
you probably need to wait till last minute cuase everyone joins last minute.

TBH, I don't know what kind of sign up numbers were you expecting. It's only been one day. You aren't using a popular tournament management website like playhem or z33k.

Awesome to see a 2v2 tourney! I'll be watching this for sure. I'm guessing the map pool will be derived from current/past ladder maps only?

Nice, now we starting to get teams signed up. And for those of you suggesting sponsored thread, its a possibility in the future, this was RaidCall's first time sponsoring through us and I'm sure they wanted to see how it goes first time around before dropping $100 on just a thread.
We can get it filled up now that more and more people spreading the word.

To be honest I haven't signed up for this tournament because you haven't given the map pool. There is no pro 2v2 scene and most masters 2v2 players have very different opinions on the maps due to different styles and the large amount of race combinations possible so to be perfectly honest I don't trust that you will pick the most balanced maps quite simply because no on agrees on what they are. If you are designating what maps will be played that means I have no control over it and don't know if you will be eliminating maps in the blizz poll because you think they are unbalanced. If I knew what maps you were choosing ahead of time I would either sign up or choose not too because I think the maps suck.
I would give more info on this as soon as possible because others might be waiting to sign up because of the pool.

I'm top master 2v2 in EU (Protoss) but I have no US account. I'm up for the tournament if someone can get me an account to play with him. Zerg or Terran would be better Don't hesitate to PM me or ask in this thread

Ya I can see your point. I will take the time to look over the maps and release a map pool tonight. I use to only play 2v2, have probably played over 3,000 2v2s and #1 master with all 3 races in 2v2 so I should hopefully have a good understanding of what maps to include.
But I'm obviously prepared for the fact that no matter what maps I choose there will be some people who like it and some who don't. That's just how the world works. I'm going to try and set it up so that over the course of a bo3 it will be as close to fair as possible for all 3 races / matchups.

- Are we allowed to win the 10 $ on the stream, eventhough we're paticipating in the tournament? - Like if we loose in the tournament and just want to watch the rest, or watching the stream meanwhile wating for next opponent?

The 2 $10 winners will be viewers, not participating gamers.

What I would suggest is using a veto map pool. That way instead of having to deal with a map, that may or may not be good for a certain players style, you can just ban it. Use 5 or 7 maps with 1-2 bans for each team. That would leave some flexibility deciding how you are going to play the set.

I'm off to work for 4 hours, when I get home I will do the bracket and get it posted. So if you want to play in this tournament you have about 4 hours to get signed up.
I also see a lot of you posted without telling me what races you will be. I need this information so that we can prevent people from race switching from round to round. So please update your posts with what races you will be so that I can get the bracket out as soon as I get home.
gl HF tonight!

Registration closed in 10 minutes, so hurry up if ur joining. Just got home from work going to start work on bracket. There will be no late registration exceptions made.
And like I said, start joining the RaidCall group. Since we are using this to host the tournament you will need to be in there. Refer to the OP for info on how to get in the RaidCall group.
|
Everybody. Fix your posts. If I don't have a character name, a character code, and a race, I'm going to make stuff up. I'm helping run this tournament with chosen, and if your race isn't listed, you're playing random. End of story.
EDIT: me and chosen have decided instead, that whatever race you play on your first game, is the race you will be playing the rest of the tournament. NO exceptions.
Please, in the future if we setup an event, be sure to include ALL requested information.
Thanks, NMxStarwing

Congratulations to xSixMystik and Power for winning the first ever RaidCall 2v2 Open. They played very well and won 3-1 vs NMxMasa / NMxhendralsk.
|
to bad your tournament start time was 3am european time
gonna rewatch the finals
|
Come with more 2on2 tournaments (-: . If possible it would be great if the tournament could start abit earlier, because for us europeans it started 3 am CEST.
Maybe make the tournament weekly or every 2nd week with smaller price pool, and Bo1 untill quaterfinals - so theres a new 2on2 tournament every week or 2nd week :-). And the tournament will finnish the same day.
But keep the tournament in the weekends, so we europeans are able to compete.
GL to the winners, and hopefully we'll see more tournaments in 2on2 from RaidCall.
