If I go for a 2rax opening to try and punish a quick nexus, they just throw out a couple sentries and stop it. I still don't understand how people think Protoss have a weak early/mid-game. The reason Protoss has a statistically weaker midgame compared to Terran is because Protosses actually aim for a lategame where their advantage is the highest. As a result, their greedy lategame builds leave them vulnerable in the midgame, where terran gets all their tech and starts their harass. The misconception is thus that terran is strongest in the midgame and protoss is weakest there. What has happened is that Protoss discovered that their advantage vs T is the strongest in the lategame, and terrans are forced into going for midgame pushes because of the protoss playstyle. Protosses have ridiculously good midgame timings like the 8gate as we just saw and protoss earlygame is stronger than terran earlygame end of.

And if you think 3 base 8 gate is unstoppable watch Polt's Fight Club game against MC on Antiga. He gets enough units out to shut down the initial push and then uses mulipronged attacks with smart dropship play to do tons of damage. Toss might have a big army after 8 gates but without blink/charge/colossi/templar tech stopping mulitpronged drops from doing damage is tough.

Firstly, we probably shouldn't use MMA's TvP as a benchmark. Secondly, how long ago was that game you referred to?

People said (say) that there was art to individual craftsmanship, but now everyone buys cheap and reliable factory stuff. It's just basically division of labour - the song writer writes songs and the band performs them, which is what it was since back before the Beatles made it cool to have the singer/songwriter combined in the band. No reason why a good performer who can't write music can't be paired with a good songwriter who can't sing to give us catchy tunes.

You don't scout and react to everything. In fact 1. you can't 2. depending on what, it can be a fake. There is ONE source of truth: that is the timer in the game. That alone dictates what is possible at any given point. Sometimes there is only one thing that is possible because of the map. Sometimes there are 3. Sometimes scouting + time = you can reduce to one possibility. Sometimes scouting + time = you can't do any reduction. Some builds have the ability to adapt very differently to what you see without being too behind. Some builds are behind, and some lose automatically regardless of what you scout. There are BLIND SPOTS in each build's ability to adapt. In the case of 3nex, T doesn't have flexibility if he's doing bio. This is true across the entire matchup, for both races, for most builds. From 330m to 11m, the T build is more or less charted out. The same is true for a 1raxCC cloakshee build - it's charted out. You are committed, regardless of what you see.
