It is time. Today we proudly announce first details of our upcoming StarCraft 2 cup series. After tons of brainstorming, discussions with ESL and our sponsor, lanforge.ch, we are finally ready to feed you some info.
We, the E-Sport Blog team, have decided to hold the cup series in several parts, similar to the EPS Germany. As the past EPS Germany events have shown, this format was very well accepted by the players. There will be a total of six cups. Each cup is held online on the tournament platform of the ESL and will only be accessible for players from Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
All of the cups will be played during the months of July and August, on Sundays and Wednesdays. The ESL urged us not to hold on to our original plans of having fixed match-days, as effort and gain are not quite as reasonable these days. According to a small survey, the mentioned days seemed to be the ones working out the best for most players.
The format is easily comprehendible: Players can earn points in each cup. The better they perform the more points the receive. Points are awarded to the eight best players of each cup. At the end of the series, the eight players who were able to earn the most points during the cups, are invited to the offline playoffs.
A very important point the E-Sport Blog wanted to achieve: The cup system should hold some fun for every player! Therefore we were able to arrange an ingenious deal with our sponsor lanforge.ch! Every cup participant wins something! How? Simple: For every round of the cup a player reached, a 1% discount is granted at the lanforge.ch store. So even when a player participates in all six cups but drops out in the first round each, a discount of 6% is granted nonetheless! With this we obviously hope to motivate even those players among you, who don’t expect to win this whole thing, to participate in the cup anyways.
The exact dates of the cups, the location of the offline playoffs, the caster who will be casting the event, and especially the prizes worth 2’000,- CHF, will be announced the coming days and weeks. And of course, on the E-Sport Blog we’ll provide you with our homemade, huge coverage of the cup-series. Stay tuned for the coming announcements, and let us look forward to a thrilling Starcraft Series Switzerland, short S³.

I'm from the French part of Switzerland (Neuchâtel - Neuenburg).
French events are too far away for me, and most of the events/webtv in Switzerland are in Swiss German. I feel sad. :'(

This Series is open to EVERYONE from Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Shouldn't matter whether you are French or German speaking, right? And if you qualify for the offline finals: Switzerland is really not that big. Travelling to Zurich shouldn't be much of a hustle

But yes, travelling to Zurich isn't that hard (even if Schweizer Bahn are way too overpriced ) but as a spectator, Swiss German is like... Yeah, strange for me :D

Well, I suppose Swiss German is "strange" everyone who's not quite used to its sound
From what I hear the casting may not necessarily be in German only - we'll see (I guess) uuuuhhh *drumrolls*

We'll see!

Online we will have some English Casters, for the Cups. If the Offline Finalls will be also in English i dont know but we will see.

The StarCraft Series Switzerland is drawing closer. In this news we inform you about the dates of the upcoming cups as well as of the Offline Final. We chose the dates of the cups according to the results of the survey we were running earlier, about when you guys are most likely available to play in a tournament – the cups will be held on Sundays and Wednesdays. We decided to have four of the six cups on Sundays, and the two others on Wednesday evenings. This way we hope most of you will be able to earn some of the important points for getting invited to the Offline Final.
Dates of the S³ cups:
Wednesday, July 25th, 18:30 Sunday, July 29th, 17:00 Sunday, August 5th, 17:00 Wednesday, August 8th, 18:30 Sunday, August 12th, 17:00 Sunday, August 19th, 17:00
After these six cups, the eight best players will be invited to the offline Finals. This Final will probably be held on Saturday, September 1st. However, this date is not 100% fixed yet. Eventually we will be rescheduling to a week later, Saturday September 8th. Details on the location and the tournament rules of the whole series will be announced in additional news soon.

Sounds great, looking forward to this
