Wow, this looks like a nice Sc2 event, that could serve as a "warm-up" for WCS Sweden (Which takes place the Saturday after Närcon's Sc2 event), as ten (If I've counted correctly) of the current qualified players for this has also qualified for WCS Sweden
Unfortunately, I cannot be there, but as a manga and Sc2 fan I really wish that I could. Good luck with the event
|
Yes will be really nice.
|
Will be a busy weekend for Sweeden, this even is the day before WCS with most of the same players
|
Linköping, not too far away, are you able to attend and just watch?
|

We will make it even bigger and better next year so you will get a second chance!
Make sure to follow the streams we will provide you with later on in this thread :D!

You need a ticket for NärCon to be able to attend and watch the games in person. We have different deals over at: http://2012.narcon.se/?page_id=9

Yeah, that´s why we made sure to shorten our schedule to adjust for the players so they will be able to get a nights rest before WCS the day after in Stockholm .
We will for sure see some awesome matches!

Yep, midd/late summer most often! You will find NärCon next year in Linköping aswell and hopefully enjoy some more awesome E-esport !
Our goal is to get more people involved and into E-sports! To merge the manga- and anime lovers with the E-sport culture.

Linköping isn't very far from Stockholm though, only a few hours by car. So this tournament is a good warmup for most players for the real deal.

Agree and most players will be going by train to Stockholm so around 2 hours travelling in total.

Yesterday the last Qualifier for NärCon 2012 took place. Traveller ended up winning the qualifier!
So the last player has been added and in only 10 days the gates of NärCon will open once again!
|
1day passes will be available at the door?

Yes. You will find it by the main entrance .
|
Will the groups for the event be released soon?
|
On July 17 2012 01:54 WindWolf wrote: Will the groups for the event be released soon?
A couple of days before the event starts
|
Ohh it's actually a lot of good players attending. Naniwa should win this.
|
Thread updated with the release of player groups in main post!
|
My predictions of who'll advance past the group stage: Group A: Sjow and SortOf Group B: SaSe and winner of Naugrim/Bischu Group C NaNiwa and winner of Seiplo/Forsen Group D: Cytoplasm and someone else
However, anything can happen, this is gonna be good event nonetheless
|
Traveller will not be attending the event, and will be replaced by Bobson. He will also take his place in the groups.
|
Correction, Traveller will be attending NärCon. Tails were unable to come to the event.
|
Just a few days left now until NärCon will open their gates!
Will be awesome for sure!
|
A question popped up in my head now. Is all the casters present at NärCon?
|
Wait, did I confuse this with the world championship series that's this weekend too?
|
This is a different event. This takes place the Thursday and Friday before WCS Nordic Finals, so don't worry, the players will be in Stockholm as well.
|
Oh, sweet. More Sasiwa goodness then, hooray! I'm half tempted to take the train up
|
Feels like this mostly will be a playground for naniwa and sase. And if it werent for them, i dont see how this event would be of interest, considering the extremely small prize pool. Probably good as warmup for wcs though...

Winner gets a trip to Korea, and I wouldn't write off the other Swedish stars attending

SortOf won 2-0 against First (who dominated Losira later on at MLG), he also wrecked through the IEM qualifier just recently.

I guess the mere presense of a player of naniwas caliber makes this look silly in my eyes because he is more than likely to win this and that would make the prize money look like pocket change in the hands of nani, and the trip would have been paid by quantic anyways. Maybe a bit pessimistic of me though...

In E-Sport SM February final, Naugrim's multitasking on Dual Sight was pretty good. I'm still seriously wondering why he isn't giving more non-Koreans a run for their money. (And he had a decent run during DH: Summer)

I don't get why you are so negative about this. Isn't this the first time since the Inferno Online tournaments just after release that we get to see most of the top Swedish names play each other? Missing some names, mainly ThorZain but also LaLush, HayprO, Morrow, StjarnaN and Seiplo. Still a cool lineup and a lot of players who can give SaSe and NaNiWa a good match. I know I will be watching this.

Great work! My guess who will advance first in their group is SortOf, SaSe, NaNiwa and Cytoplasm Did not even know Svenska Esport Förbundet existed.

Barcraft: Do you think that the players as Närcon will save strategies for [WCS Sweden] SjoW: Doubtful, maybe NaNiwa and SaSe who already lives in Korean and doesn't prioritize the journey as much as everyone else.
I know that NaNiwa has said in a Rakaka interview that he would much rather win a Swedish event then anything else (MAYBE after the GSL), so I don't think that he has anything against representing Sweden in Korea, even if he has lived there for quite some time now.

I like to see foreigners do good, no matter which country theyre from. This tournament features one really good player in sase and one great player in naniwa. The other players arent exactly BAD but in comparison to sasiwa, they fade. Just my OPINION though.

UPDATE: PwFHited replaces Traveller who were unable to make it to the event,
|
Second-Day starts around the time of the CodeS Finals p.q
|
This will be awesome! And I really like Maddelisk's casting too, so I will be able to listen to a Swedish stream for once ;D More than anything, I want to see Sase back in shape so I hope he does well!
|
I was invited to join my friends to this event but i turned it down because i'm not a huge fan of cosplay/anime/etc. If only i had known back then that there would be a SC2 tournament T_T

You really had too little information about this...
|
|
On July 26 2012 20:19 Nakwa wrote: You really had too little information about this...
There has been plenty on fragbite and rakaka
|
My group predictions:
RunA SortOf
SaSe Naugrim Bischu
Forsen NaNiwa
Cytoplasm viPro
Edit: To advance, that is. No order.
|
|
Lets enjoy this tournament!
|
Take your time, and make sure you get everything right over there at Närcon.
And I'll sure will enjoy this
Edit: What happened to SaSe and Hited? They're not in the BB groups...
|
Amazing that a local Swedish tournament features this much talent.
Sweden wahiting~
(also very nice to be able to wath without staying up all night )
|
Why isn't Maven's stream on while the other streams is on?
Edit: According to Maddelisk's twitter, Maven has problem with his voice and he/Madde will not casts today ;(
|
Haha, both protosses gets crushed by 3-base roach ling. Had both streams up, thought it was the same match.

Yes as said, we have no swedish coverage of the tournament and group B day 1 since Mavens is having voice problems. We are incredible sorry about this. It was a last minute call so we had no backup.
SaSe and Hited were unable to attend due personal issues and will not participate. Therefor they do not appear in the main tournament.
We have plenty of live coverage and good response from Rakaka and more info will be up on reddit and spammed on IRC.
|
|
Thank you for jumping in. Now if only the stream overlords would like to be on my side...
|
|
Wow, what a beautiful hold by Nani! Not very surprising that he's dominating forsen though.
|
NaNiwa 2 - Forsen 0
Maddelisk + Morrow is a really good casting combo. Could you please make them cast tomorrow as well?
|
Dont forget to stretch your legs during the break between 18.15 CET to 19.15 CET! Then we´ll have more action for you with the Round of 8! Check the schedule in the first post!

Nani with a Cheeky double proxy 8 gate xD
|
Man, I just missed Seiplo vs. NaNiwa g1 because of dinner.
But on the flipside, I can get a chance to enjoy Maddelisk cast. On her own, she on about the same level as K[9]
|
Hehe, Morrow and Maddelisk is a great casting combo. Really enjoying the calm matter-of-factly way they go about it.
The bracket is pretty stacked. O.o Anything can happen here (even if there are some clear favourites, I'd say).

Morrow's casting was hilarious. "No, I don't think it will work. He's dead."
Anyway, I missed Nani vs Seiplo. What was that like?

Very dissapointed in Forsens games. Does he really think he's that much worse than SjoW that he can't try to play a macro game?
And how do I get the display time on each post in the threads? For some reason they show in KST even tho I have updated my time zone to GMT+1.

Forsen has been cheesing or something? I just tuned in and I was really surprised to see Sjow up 2-0 over Forsen. I would think Forsen should be able to take the series fairly handily.

Forsen did a failed 2base roach/bane all in game 1, and a 6pool in game 2, leaving a few seconds after seeing the marine in SjoWs mineral line from his 12rax.

This doesn't look like the Forsen we saw at Dreamhack :/ Hard to judge in such strange games, but SjoW on the other hand seems to be back in shape now. Hopefully we'll see a major comeback. :D
|
I think that six-pooling was a bad idea from Forsens side. I think that SjoWs more conventional style won the quarterfinal
|
I'm a bit disappointed, I love a good macro ZvT but forsen did some ridiculous all-ins, and unsurprisingly, it's all PvZ from here . Hopefully we'll get some better games in the semis! SjoW is looking good.

Will be fun to see Naniwa vs Såtov. His pråtos vs. särg has not been that good before but he did pretty good against DRG so...

Such an awesome initiative!

Omg. Morrow doesn't know what an editor is.

Did anyone else laugh just as hard as Morrow did when viPro failed the ff on Entombed? Should've been so simple, looked like a platinum league game up until that point (and after for that matter)..

Gotta love the mammaskepp. Its so refreshing, confusing and awesome at the same time to hear a cast in swedish.

Swedish casting is so uncomfortable lol. It's pretty good aside from "Mammaskepp"... I think I might've died a bit inside.
|
There was an epic conversation that went something like this
Madde: I think NaNiwa is a bit slow on unpgrades Morrow: I think it's pretty standard Madde: ...whatever, it's Morrow commentating
|
Nani still cant play vs Zerg, wow

Albeit I guess a more correct translation would be modersskepp och inte mamma skepp (which is more like mom ship). But that only made it better imo.

I don't think that they're too serious on their translations

No its all said in good humor. I just heard "äggkläckeri" which is awesome in so many ways.

But there some joke (that I don't personally get) going around in the cast where Morrow likes egg-sandwich, so it may have something to do with that.

You just have to give Madde creds. Swedish casting usually makes me cringe to hell and beyond but her casting is actually somewhat enjoyable. I guess partly due to the natural flow she has when speaking, and also partly due to her uncanny ability to not make "Swenglish" words sound extremely awkward.
|
Naniwa made that defense look so easy.

Agreed, I think it's mostly being aware of how ridiculous Esport Swenglish is, embracing it and having fun with it. It's not too pseudo-professional and not too flimsy. I like it a lot, and Morrow + Madde is a great combo.
I think Naniwa has made a few mistakes, but SortOf made a lot more in that last game. I still think Naniwa can win this 3-1 if he doesn't mess up too much.
|
I like Morrow too, not because Morrow is a great caster but because of the same reasons why it's fun to listen to most progamers: that they're really knowledgeable.

1-1 NaNiwa - SorfOf. The next map is Family, and family means no one gets left behind.

Nani doing Jangbi's build.
EDIT: ...and failing horribly.

Did Naniwa just stop playing?

NaNiwa vs SortOf is Crazy!

Naniwa
|
|
Doesn't look to good for NaNiwa...
But if he learns from his mistakes, then he can be dangerous in WCS Sweden this Saturday
|
Nani just throwing a game, it seems... Not playing his A-game, that's for sure, but wp by sortof!
|
|
Nani obv. had a headache and sortof just walked around.
|
"GG, not very easy when you've got a headache and a ton of people walking around you all the time"

I love seeing Naniwa losing to foreigners. Seems like it's happening every tournament now.
Can anyone translate what he said?
Edit: Ah. QQ excuses, not surprising.
User was warned for this post

Well played by SortOf and I love upsets, but I'm a bit sad that I didn't get to see Nani's A game and no Sase at all So a bit anticlimactic. I'll be cheering for SjoW tomorrow though!

Dreamhack
DH Stockholm: 0-2 Nerchio, 0-2 sLivko and eliminated in stage 3 DH Summer: 0-2 LiveZerg, 1-2 Dimaga

Edit: Ah. QQ excuses, not surprising. He has only played one PvZ-series in GSL since he got invited into Code S (Plus he was placed with one zerg in a group, but they never meet) so of course he has practiced more PvP and PvT then PvZ

Wow... Sour grapes. Do you mind to share what's the cause of this dislike towards nani? He seems like an all right chap to me. I wish he was more consistent though. Kind of weird to focus on gloating in a players loss instead of being happy for the player who won. Not very classy.
Edit. Great stream by the way. Very well casted. I've stayed away from Swedish casts since one of the early SC2 dreamhacks where you couldn't help but to cringe and scramble to get a hold on the mouse and close it down. You made me reconsider If you ever stop playing, please consider being casters. Very impressive.

Do you notice anything in particular about all of those players, aside from them being foreigners?

Twitter Stefan Andersson was fun casting, was cool to experience what its like to be a NA progamer

his last gsl match was a PvZ and anyway if you live in korea as a progamer and neglect a match-up, you can only .blame yourself

They need to reunite and reach the top! <3

Naniwa had a headache?
lol.

Will Morrowlisk continue to cast this day. I'm really hoping so. They were amazing yesterday
Edit: i see Maddelisk among the spectators...
Edit2: From Maddelisks twitter "Thanks everyone, but there won't be a Swedish stream today as it looks like. But if someone manages to wake/persuade Morrow I'm on it". Morrow, GET UP

We had to schedule it early since alot of our players will go to the WCS in Stockholm tomorrow. Not the best time for we know early and GSl finals at the same time but it had to be done!
Tune in and enjoy the awesome games!
Bischu vs SortOf!
|
Nooooooo! I wanted Naugrim and Bischu in the finals (they are both from Umeå, right?).
|
Looks like sortof is going to take this tournament.
|
Got two awesome players in the finals !
|
Yeah, we have to map out regions/cities where players are from when we're doing Swedish only tournaments anyway, it's been a good tournament, particularly for the size of it. Cool that so many local pro's were in it and all, hope that you're going to continue with it! And who knows, next year maybe I'll go there in person ; )
|
Gratz to SortOf, top 3 swedish player atm tbh!
|
|
LOL Naniwa had a headache.
What will be his excuse for WCS? Cause he's definitely not gonna win that either.

No offense to viPro and StarNan. I'm not hating on Nani in any way, but he was not in shape at Närcon and I hope he can step it up for WCS!
|
What's up with all the Naniwhine? SortOf is a great player and his win was legit. : S

So the hottest up and coming Swede has just been crowned as the unofficial national champ (sort of..) and your focus is on whether Nani had or had not a headache?
|

|
Nani shouldn't have blamed his headache in the chat. Most of the times it's self-inflicted and you shouldn't let other players who beat you seem worse just because they have prepared better for match. Give SortOf the credit he deserves, because he's been playing great lately.

No, my focus is on Naniwa making up excuses when a better player beat him. I'm not the one trying to take away credit from SortOf here, but Naniwa is. Just wanted to express how sick and tired I am of Naniwa's (and Sase's) attutide towards other players.
