Hello everyone! This is the official thread for the one and only North American Regional for our next LIVE event, IGN Pro League 5! The winner of this Regional will earn free travel and hotel stay for the live event. They will also earn an automatic seed into Winners Round 3 at the event. There will only be one Regional for North America, one for Europe, and one for Korea. Each player may only participate in one of the North American, European, or Korean Regionals. There will be one additional International Regional that will be open to everyone. You will want to play your absolute best to secure this amazing prize!
Unfortunately, we are not yet able to announce the date or location of our live event. All we can tell you is that it is coming up soon and these qualifiers were scheduled in a way that ensures that we have time for travel preparations to be made. If for any reason, a player who qualifies in these online qualifiers cannot make the trip to our live event, their registration fee will be refunded and we will use the Regional results to determine who will receive the free travel, hotel, and tournament seed instead.
When - North American Regional: Saturday, May 26 7:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) You can register any time before midnight Pacific time on Thursday, May 24th. There is an entry fee of $10 (USD).

The Format!
Players should be online and ready to play within 30 minutes of the event's start time. Please be aware that these qualifiers can and will take a lot of time. Forfeits and walkovers will be used if needed. Each round is best of 3, with start maps labeled on the bracket. Players may be asked to wait to begin a series so that their match can be broadcast.
Servers: All games will be played on the North American server.
Spectators Rule: No observers/spectators are allowed for these games. IGN Pro League admins and casters may make games for players to help things run smoother and either referee or cast the matches.

Only if they are willing to accept a flight FROM somewhere in North America - i.e. they live here. If they sign up here they will also not be able to sign up for their own EU or KR Regionals.

goldenlight is currently living in the states, but since we don't know when ipl5 is we don't know if he is or is not able to accept a flight from the NA region, and he has already signed up for NA regional qualfiier.

It's not a strict regional, but I think this rules out a lot of Korean players because without knowing the schedule of IPL 5, they don't know whether they're going to be able to be in the US around that time. Koreans on big EU/NA teams are still going to register for this one, though - ie Violet, Puma, etc.

Because we are unable to give a date for the event, we will work with Golden or anyone else in a similar situation on prizing. Most likely we would just calculate a reasonable NA airfare and award him that amount. If he is still in NA for the event itself, it will be fully covered, and if he is back in Korea, he or his team will need to cover the difference. Hotel and WR3 seed at the event will still be there as well.

I dream of a day when these organizations give ADEQUATE time to plan for these major events, especially when its the only qualifier. This is really kind of absurd. We need to do better then this.

Also on a weekend when some are in the Battegrounds, this kind of online qualifiers should be done in weekedays if they are going to be casted from replays anyway.

I think the complaint is that the tournament was announced on the 16th but registration thread wasn't opened until the 23rd... seems strange when there's only 1 qualifier (if I'm not mistaken) for NA that registration opens so close to the date of the tournament.
Although I'm sure everyone who has a shot at making it will sign up.

You're using coL.Drewbie for some reason, he's back on ROOT, you have Root.Catz on there correctly but Drewbie is listed as still being on Complexity for some reason.

I thought IPL 4 and 5 were announced to be at the Cosmo? I remember David Ting mentioning this in an interview, and that IPL 5 would be in August. Can we know roughly when? It's very frustrating as a team manager to have players participating in a qualifier for an event that has no date, time, or location announced. T_T!

demu taking out idra is sad.. both had a shot at winning this tbh.. without a top tier protoss idra could have been set loose.

This is just for 1 person. They will hold Satellite tournaments for more qualifiers to the tournament later on. See the link I posted above

Sleep went for quick baneling bust while Demuslim went 1 rax CC. didn't have to use any banelings to bust down natural wall and used them all on the factory reactor.
