I think idra will play better games, because this game matters more than that show match. Idra stated on inside the game ( think not 100% sure) that he hates show matches. But despite that, I think idra will lose because, on iron squid alive is pushing nestea to the brink. And idra is not as good as nestea.

If he hates showmatches why does he accept them? That's kind of weird, lol.

Go Thorzain! Would love to see SeleCT take out Alicia too

Nope, this game is live. It's a wise idea by NASL to make the fact that a live game is actually live incontrovertible with the pregame screen and the pauses, to silence the silly conspiracy theorists.

Some are, some are not. Not matter what, all matches are played within 24 hours before the broadcast.

Well aLive is in Paris right now due to Iron Squid, so there is a possibility that the match won't happen, because it's 4am over here and there may be no PC to play on.

Alive is in Paris, probably asleep or partying
Ah, I forgot. Wow that's poor by me lol, it's a shame I really hope he's in a good state of mind, he takes losses hard and getting the worse end of 2 ridiculously close series sucks

Just a really poor game by both.
how is it pointless to have 90 drones on 3 bases?
Pointless was a bad word for that situation, but it's definitely way too much. It's okay to have above saturation when you are preparing to take another base, but Ret was on 90+ without expanding for a few minutes.

optimal saturation is 22 per base (2 per mineral, 3 per gas) most pros these days don't go over that, especially zerg just get a 4th quicker and than instantly poop out 20 additional drones

3 per mineral is fine though, if he took a fourth it would be pretty hard to hold at that time, he had no ground army. With 90 drones you have enough for spines and you have the maximum three base economy, it worked out perfectly for him.

It worked perfectly because he was playing Cruncher.

So if you have no army (and cant defend your first 3 bases), you produce even more drones who mine less efficiently? Just produce an army, take 4th, then produce the additional drones. Thats pretty easy with zerg mechanics.
On near patches, the efficiency of a 3rd drone is ~30%. On pro level that is not "fine".
Pretty ugly game. Just mass roaches and headbutt into the natural with almost no multitasking, no creep spread, no expanding, just keep mashing that R button and attack.
Jesus, every time Cruncher gets himself a huge advantage he just throws it away with terrible decision making. That hold was so brilliant! All he had to do was macro up and keep defending.

It even out to about 20 minerals/minute for the third drone so they pay for themselves in 2.5 minutes. That's not bad, especially when he knew he would need them for spine crawlers.
I'm not going to theory craft the entire game to see what else could have happened there, but 90 drones worked out fine for him, people exaggerate how bad it is to go over 2/patch.

I know the numbers. Its ok to get 3 workers on far patches. Zergs have to decide all the time between producing workers and army. There it was between "30% worker" and army. I clearly disagree with the decision there.
I can't believe this 14 drone 1 base baneling bust worked, I use it at the platinum level and its success rate is not great. One bunker stops this rush.

Lowely probably studied Thorzain's play and knew he likes to do that greedy 3CC build on Tal'Darim. Thorzain played foolishly, didn't even scout his opponent's position.

I think Platinum players don't play super greedy, assume their opponent is going to play standard and make 2 more CC's with one marine.
Just looked at the group results in total, this is the group of walkovers. CatZ hasn't played a match, Alicia got walked over and now Alive is getting walked over.

Yeah the replays need an onscreen indicator 'kingston hyperx instant replay' or something to indicate that it's not the live play.
Wow Lowely and Ultras. Lowely lacks name recognition for me, so I would not have expected this result or his overall results. And ultralisks have been doing work a lot lately, I don't know what it is, except unprepared terrans probably. aLive pushed terribly slowly in an Iron Squid game earlier today as well.

You watched when marauders are not made vs ultralisks

Wasn't even the lack of Marauders. It was losing an entire mineral line worth of SCVs to a run-by. It's easy to slam economies into an opponent who's at 2/3rds of the income they want.
EDIT: That sorta came out wrong. Wasn't trying to degrade Lowely's play, just pointing out where the major damage was done to Thorzain.

I kinda doubt Idra had a choice
Well if NASL didn't even ask him, it would be a stupid business decision on their part. 2 extremely high profile players, this is one of the most interesting matches in the entire regular season. I wouldn't expect them to make a public statement to that regard, so as not to put scrutiny on a player, that would be unprofessional.

No tournament should ever ask the player for advice about referee decisions.

This isn't exactly a game decision, not a disconnect. The decision is clear, one of the players didn't live up to his promise and expectations and the obvious "judge" decision should be to give the win to Idra. However, this not hard to cover up in order to be more profitable. It's absurd, from a business perspective, to say that cancelling one of the biggest matches of the season is better than saying on air "Sorry, the match had to be rescheduled, thankfully both the players were understanding and cooperative."

Our procedure for requesting reschedules is that you must notify us at least 1 week in advance. Fnatic told us 2 days before, and IdrA could play the night before, but aLive had already left to Paris, therefore there was nothing we could do.
The only way we play a game after the broadcast time is if WE make an error (I.E. send a wrong time in the email or something). Otherwise, games are always played at the schedule time or 1 day earlier. We try to never play games any earlier than that.
Great show. It occurs to me that you guys are missing production credits. Shouldn't be too hard to whip something up. After all the praise you guys have got lifting your game this season give your production crew a little love.

I did. I don't see why it's a "bad business decision" not to discuss walkovers with players. I'm trying to figure out why you think it's bad to have standardized rules, as opposed to giving leeway to players based on the number of views they'll draw (or conversely denying a walkover to a player just because he's popular).

Double standards.
Saying that as a Stephano fan: Stephano had 2 (or more?) no-shows before and has some haters who react badly. All the other people actually understood that he tried to play from his vacationing spot (which didnt work out). And NASL is pretty strict about their schedules, so he couldnt reschedule his match just like alive. (also NASL reported the situation differently as in alives case - producing some bad reactions at first)

Well with aLive it's understandable why he couldn't play. He should've tried to reschedule earlier (need a week's notice) so that is his team's fault, presumably as aLive probably does not personally communicate with NASL.
Stephano had a right to miss the game as well, as a family vacation IMO is very important. He just should've at least given a week's notice to try and reschedule, or at the very least give a day's notice to forfeit so his opponent didn't have to be waiting for him to show up.

Please inform yourself before judging like this: - Stephano assumed he could play during vacation, he didnt expect the internet connection to be that bad. - After he found out, he could not play, he informed NASL 3 days before. Puma didnt wait.
