People should give Fionn some love because he did write a preview article off his own initiative, there was just no one around for him to get it spotlighted in any way (you can find it in sc2 general)

Yeah, why did TL boycott them. Well not exactly, that's a heavy word, but you get the point.

No one knows except the staff, I'm wondering this myself although I'm sure they have a valid reason.

I heard (by a staff member from a team) that you have to pay TL to get exposure in TL.net . Not sure it is true but it might be the reason.

great tournaments, by far the best crowd ever for a sc2 event, even more when you know you had to pay 50 bucks.

I hope the next one will be even better, with more players... less downtime for the streamers and fixings the minors troubles (sound, lag etc.) but we have to remember the 1080p stream was free... so... great work and thanks to the staff

There is sponsored threads but Iron Squid don't enter in this category of tournament. It's just when the tournament started every people with the power that be were occupied (friday night) and now it's too late.

I think there are many variables to why the coverage of the tournament was as bad as it was.

Here are some:
- A new tournament which need to prove itself.
- No Liquid player playing.
- No foreign players in the finals.
- French being the main language of the tournament.
- No one available to cover the event.
- Didn't pay TL to get a "Partner Portal"-site.

Did the organizers even want to make this tournament a well covered international one ? It seems they were more focused on the french community (and on the crowd which bought tickets ofc).

Remember it's the first major tournament that takes place in France, and it has not been organized by french esports veterans (there was some, but Pomf & Thud are casters, they didn't organized such things one year ago, etc).

Lessons must be taken, even if this event was a success in a country that sometimes (i would like to say "often", but i think it would be a bit biased) describes video games as a social disease (J. Cheminade, a candidate to the presidential election, spoke a lot about "this plot organized by the US in order that our children become criminals")

On a more personnal note, i think i would have prefered the English cast. It's not that Pomf & Thud are bad casters, but to me it sounds weird in french...

ESWC has been oraganize by esports veterans like Ragnarok said. Iron Squid has been organized by Pomf&Thud who are just casters.

Or may be Alive vs MMA in the final would have been much better opponent for MMA lol.

you didnt watch the game either your game understanding isnt good.Symbol had infestor tech and was about to making +10 infestors, then MMA's nonstop agression started. He had no time for making these infestors and just make ton of zerglings for defending it.That was amazing timing attack by MMA, nothing wrong with Symbol's macro.

also i can guarantee you, NesTea has %15 chance against MMA with his current ZvT, so Symbol vs MMA final was so much better than this.

Uhhhhhhh
This is Nestea's record in ZvT so far in 2012:

10-6 Alive
4-2 Ganzi
3-2 Jjakji(!!)
1-2 Demuslim
2-1 Sjow
2-1 Mvp(!!)
1-2 Virus
2-0 Keen

Which is way more impressive than Symbol's (granted Symbol really shined this tournament and played better than his record would suggest). I don't know where the fuck you pulled 15%, but even if it was, Symbol's would probably be less than, or maybe about equal to, Nestea's.

uhh Symbol's ZvT record in 2012:
2-1 Polt
3-0 MKP(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
2-1 sC
2-0 PuMa
1-2 MVP
1-2 Rain
2-0 ThorZaIN

if you really think nestea's record impressive than this, LOL.

The only thing missing was TB and apollo in france !

I'm not sure what's the deal with that. Though they were supposed to be co-organizer of the whole iron squid thing , was it only a casting deal and the rest handled by the frenchs ?

They did a great job anyway. Hope next time stream will be better. Please no more Justin.tv go to owned.tv

Uhm, most of youre reasons are obviously wrong,...
TL also covered The Gathering, Copenhagen games and the french Lan thing while IPL was on.
I'd say your points 1-4 are wrong. Dont know about the rest.

I would say it's close. Symbol won't be able to 3-0 MKP again, thats for sure. He played smart and countered MKP's greedy playstyle but MKP won't be making that mistake against him again, trust me.

Other than the 3-0 MKP, I would say Nestea's accomplishments in ZvT are great.

We were solely contracted to cast, we didn't organize this event.

i would say its close as well, but Symbol's ZvT was better at this event.Did you see NesTea's games against aLive? he was so sloppy and aLive isnt even code S level(MMA level) TvZer.

MMA would roflstomp NesTea on finals(probably 4-0), so Symbol vs MMA was better finals.

I just came back from France, but wow ! That was my first time in a e-sport show and I loved it.

Even if there was little problems, all the day was stuffed and great. I came to the venue 20 minutes before the start and there was more than 100 meters of queue ! That was the first problem because all the people took more than 1 hour to came in. There was also few technicals problems so it started at 12AM.
But the show was unbelievable, alive vs MMA was epic. All the games were really dynamics and the crowd was really exited. I was really stunned by that level of play. And MMA winning was really great. This series was the best TvT I ever seen IMO.
I'm really waiting the next event to come back again.

The thing with language is that in France and other French region is that the French is really important and I can't see the same event with English casters in the place. So I think the next events will suffer the same difficulties to be view abroad.

I hope MMA will come back in front of the scene with this success. His play really impressed me.

To bad that he didn't produced battle cruiser in the first game against aLive or used his nuke. It would have been HUGE.

Even if you don't usually watch VODs make sure to check these out, man all 4 series were just amazing.

I especially loved watching the ZvZ, I think that's going to be a marquee matchup ala TvT in SC2 once things are said and done.
