Jerred (UNCJer) definitely deserves this. He's a great, strategic, smart player, and a good guy in general.

I think the player chosen should be based on popularity in addition to raw skills - that is the point of an all-star tournament is it not?

Raw skill - lets have a quick mini tournament

Tournament winner will be determined by votes, go!

Please continue to leave your support and feedback we will do the best we can and make the process as fair as possible...above all, we want to give our collegiate players a chance at showcasing their talents outside the team league and also in the spotlight that's ever-so-hard to reach as a college student.

Vote vote vote! I approve of political campaigns, too. Great way to pass on SC2 love to the community.

Wasn't expecting such a hostile reaction to my suggestion (GSL does it). I'll settle on hazelynut in a hydralisk costume and strobe lights.

Sorry if it's already been asked but is there any chance of an open qualifier being added to this? Obviously CSL wants the most well-known players competing for bigger viewership but it just seems kind of illegitimate to have an all star tournament with such a limited player pool.

I also remember a post-season tournament last year where each team was given two player slots, any chance of that coming back?

- Why not have a qualifier? CSL resources are taxed: running the playoffs, maintaining the website, and planning for the finals is literally full time+++++ work for the few administrators we have. Unfortunately, we are very understaffed and we can't add on more work and realistically expect it to be done well. If we can't run a qualifier tournament fairly and smoothly, it's better to not do it. In the future, as we grow and we have a stronger and larger administrative base - we of course want to look into hosting qualifiers for these types of events since qualifiers are the most objective way to go.

- Why not have a player from each of the final 2 teams participate? This is a good idea and is something we'll consider (we do have a month to decide). So stay tuned for that...

I hope this answers people's questions sufficiently! Please be happy that we are working hard and putting our own money into trying to help our community grow and flourish.

Can I ask why allow what is essentially professional players to compete in this side tournament? I believe CSL is an opportunity to develop and discover talent. Being on a professional team takes away from the opportunity of unknown and unsponsored players to make a name for themselves.

I agree.

I guess i meant CSL as a whole, not solely this tournament. Perhaps its the whole student athlete idea, but I guess in my personal opinion I'd prefer a CSL in which on players on non-sponsored team would compete.

Here's the true, behind the scenes answer. Having sponsored professional players play in a CSL tournament will bring CSL more publicity than if some unknowns play in it. This decision could be justified because more publicity for CSL will be good for everyone in the CSL. More publicity could lead to greating funding from sponsors in the future.

This is a behind the scenes answer ? Its common sense.

if that's the justification, then why not invite in full time pro players? I'm sure flying in Sheth, violet, select, scarlett, catz, axslav, and any other players living in NA right now (to fit the budget I guess) with big fan-base.. It would be better use of money if the goal is to get more publicity for CSL.

This argument is dumb. Its the effing Collegiate Starleague. As in the requirements are that you go to college and are in the league. Any other status you may have as a player is moot. Sheesh

No it doesn't. It enhances the opportunity.
