Casters: Benjamin "DeMusliM" Baker & Bryce "Machine" Bates Format
The Evil Geniuses Master’s Cup Series League will feature 12 teams in a round robin format with each team matchup containing at least four best of three games between two teams. The top four teams at the end of the season will advance to the playoffs on a two day live broadcast weekend. Results Evil Geniuses vs. Alternate Attax
This is quiet a good match. Socke and JYP have history and it could really go either way. IdrA is an excellent player even though he lacks results at the moment, you can never count him out. ClouD on the other hand is a very solid Terran who is capable of nearly beating anyone. He also got tons of builds to fall back on so this will be a very good match.
Delphi is one of the most underrated players in Germany, yet he's insanely good. I do hype him quiet a bit, but his potential is clearly there and if he can be a bit more solid and have a bit better decisions overall, he'll be an absolute beast as his mechanics are usually spot on.
DemusliM is a very good player, but since I'm not in touch with the NA scene as much, I cannot tell how fit he is right now. I'd love to see him on the EU server. I follow his stream from time to time and his performance at the Winter Arena was impressive. I rate him very high as he's a very clever player with good mechanics and a good mindset, this match will be good.
DarKFoRcE vs PuMa... while PuMa is not the best Terran vs Zerg player in the world, he's very good at it and DF is as well. This match can be and will be decided by the day-performance of the player.
Overall its a very exciting to watch clanwar and I'm really looking forward to it!
The first match is about as interesting as a pvp can get, Socke being an absolute beast and my pick for the ace, (should I be wrong in predictions.) However I have learnt to never count out a Korean when they have ample time to prepare and jet lag isn't an issue, also the server which this is played on will have a large affect on the matches, but in general I feel the special K factor will be too much for one of if not the best foreigner protoss out there right now, (barring the obvious nods to the protoss' in korea.)
As for the second match I feel Cloud is a smart player and will have something prepared for this, although this is the prediction I feel least confident in even if they are played on the US server I feel that Shakuras Plateau being the first map will give the advantage to cloud, and I doubt IdrA will pick a weird map to do a weird strat on instead I reckon he will probably go for a macro map possibly daybreak, and I think Cloud will have something prepared for that maybe a cc first. So I expect Cloud 2-0 but nothing would surprise me except somehow a draw game.
Demuslim vs Delphi is going to be a fantastic match, right now Demuslim is in superb form you only have to watch him stream to understand how confident he is feeling, I dont know much about Delphi's form but he is a superb player also. Based on what I have seen recently from Demuslim, Demuslim to take it 2-1. Also I am English.
Puma vs Darkforce, Darkforce will take the first game because the map is dual sight and he is a clutch player, from then on in I am sure Puma will demonstrate the skills that have made him such a power player in foreign tournaments. So Puma 2-1. IMHO.
EG 3-1 aTn
Can't wait for the matches either way, the casting has been good as well as production quality, <3 scoots right now split screen so baus, whatever the result the matches should be splendiferous, worth staying up for here in Blighty. ^_^
Oooh, almost a beautiful draw from Alternate; I think they would've loved to switch Socke and ClouD's positions.
As it stands, this seems like a 3-1 for EG; I echo NarutO, everyone seems to regard Delphi quite highly, even if he lacks big tournament results. Against DeMusliM it seems to me like he has a really solid shot at this, although DeMu is quite good as well. Best chance for aTn to force an ace would probably Socke beating JYP, but I'm not sure how they'd then win the ace, provided EG sends PuMa.
On March 14 2012 14:26 tree.hugger wrote: Oooh, almost a beautiful draw from Alternate; I think they would've loved to switch Socke and ClouD's positions.
No. ClouD hates TvP and whines about it, everytime he gets an oppurtunity for it
Anyway, my predictions:
JYP < Socke Could go either way imo. It's PvP, probably cross server, but with his win against JYP at IEM, I think it should be possible.
IdrA < ClouD ClouD has what it takes to beat good zergs and he likes strats which will put IdrA on tilt.
DeMusliM < Delphi Delphi is playing like a beast recently (one game away from qualifying for NASL S3) and DeMusliM is not. It could be closer than I make it here, but I think Delphi will take this one.
PuMa > DarKFoRcE Could go either way too. With PuMa's questionable TvZ and if DF brings his A-Game, DF could take, but I would probably say PuMa since DF had a cold recently.
JYP should be able to beat Socke....but it could be very close. JYP 2-1 Socke
IdrA vs ClouD, ClouD is a good player (unless he's against GoOdy), but IdrA should be able to beat him handily unless he tilts. IdrA 2-0 ClouD
I haven't seen DeMuslim since Winter Arena...but he looked very strong there, especially vZ so I have to give him an edge over Delphi. DeMuslim 2-1 Delphi
PuMa has been on form lately and had probably been prepping for IEM/just coming off IEM (likely the latter) so he should be in the zone. PuMa 2-0 DarkFoRce
I know I said "EG 3-1 aTn" and then explained a 4-0, but I think realistically, aTn will take one series here. I think the biggest possibilities are Delphi > DeMusliM or Socke > JYP.
Socke > JYP (looking at their most recent result, Socke 2-0ed him at IEM) Cloud > Idra (I don't think has won a single game in a teamleague this year) Delphi ? Demuslim (Demuslims tvz is pretty good, but Delphi had some pretty good games against top tier korean terrans lately) DarkForce < Puma (gonna be pretty onesided I guess)

We didn't really play all that much, I think the overall score in the past was 2-1 for him in 3 bo3s? But I agree when we played at ESWC I lost badly, even though I stupidly decided to use builds I never practiced before.
EG should win this, the only close game should be Socke against JYP. That said Idra has been unpredictable and despite playing very well since Winter Arena, Demu has seemed vulnerable in team leagues (that said, if he plays anywhere near his top form he should 2-0 delphi easily.)
I wonder if the vods already work, I am currently at work and some shit gets blocked and other vods works perfectly. But it seems like the vods on the site are not yet uploaded?
Also want to give mad props to the guy(s) writing those recaps. I don't know how many people read those but they are really well written for SCII recaps.
JYP will barely take the first win, after that Cloud will make Idra rage and tilt, Delphi will suprise by crushing Demuslim and The always underrated DarkForce will win 2 -1 in a close series vs Puma !
3-1 EG is my bet. JYP > Socke 2-1 PvP.... Idra > Cloud 1-2 This could actually go either way I think. And since Cloud posted on here about their record, perhaps it did? DeMusliM > Delphi 2-1 DeMu's TvZ is really strong, unless the zerg's name is viOLeT. Delphi's good, but why is he the favorite of most of these posters over the guy that beat Nestea not a short while ago? PuMa > Darkforce 2-0 Puma... 3rd Assembly, 2nd IEM? Unless Puma doesn't care about this teamleague, he shouldn't lose this.
Then again, this is EG in a teamleague. 0-4 is a possibility.
I feel like EG is pretty much the favorite to win every match, but only by a very small margin each time. If they keep up with underperforming in team leagues, aTn has a very solid shot at taking this.
i think this is only the second time EG have sent out their top 4 in the same team league match. although last time was vs sheth and we all saw how that went...

I just wanted to say that you really made my day by praising our recaps. Thank you for reading them and I hope you enjoy all the content that the web staff puts out for Evil Geniuses.
I think the calendar is wrong. Empire vs Slayers is on friday according to their website.
The recaps on the site are cool, but I think it's more important to update the league standings everyday. The TL and mouz points from this week still aren't there yet. And you can't even click on week 2 on the results page.

He will. Cloud isnt really the player who do weird allins/cheese. So Idra gonna roll him. Go go Idra
Lol theyre not even talking about his hands being relevant to the game, its purely about how handsome they are haha. Hilarious stuff coming out of demuslim and machine.
Socke has to be kicking himself. He moved into the main with 4 less stalkers than he would have had if he didn't expand/build robo. He should have fell back after he decided to expand.

Sockes always been confident in PvP, dating back to the 4gate days. This series really shows you why (even though he lost). Just barely lost against JYP whose known as a pretty good PvPer.

Being able to do multiple styles is definitely very good. Glad to see him finally starting to adapt to some new styles, though. Hopefully his ZvP starts changing too. When he casts he seems to know everything going on, all the possibilities the protoss could do, and what should be done to counter it, but it seems to just not completely transition to his play. He's a very knowledgeable player. Hope he starts to bounce back.

Yeah, huge credit on that. He screwed up his panic wall, but when that failed, he calmly evac'd his drones, blocked the ramp, and waited for more defense. Great hold of a potentially game losing situation.
Wow he really rushed that last engagement....he goes in and loses all his mutas when 40 lings are about to pop. Just wait the extra 5 seconds and go then.
Is Idra possibly the progamer with the worst record in 2012? Not including today's results from Iron Squid and this, he is 20% International, 9% in Korea...

Not going to lie, that was very disappointing from Delphi. As they pointed out, that two rax especially with that placement is very standard so he could have checked there with his drone. Loving DemusliM and Machine cast, especially DemusliM - fucking hilarious :D!

Yeah, Delphi should have won, though his fungals were one-offs and with medi's doesn't matter.
And the misrallied infestors midway looked so terrible.
Still, not sure why people were giving the favorite to Delphi that match. Demuslim is kind of a beast.

Delphi made a lot of mistakes, but he is still a pretty strong player. He beat MKP at HSC, and that has to count for something.

Well thats easy to say afterwards ^^. Delphi was pretty beastly in the last time, but he`s always been inconsistent. I think many people picked Delphi, because EG had to somehow mess up like usually in teamleagues .
Delphi is very good when he brings his A-game, but sadly, he is very inconsistent I hope that he'll win i the next clanwar to show people that he's no slouch.
Delphi's big mistake with infestors is exactly why he deserved to lose. Just didn't play a careful and focused games. That doesnt reflect delphi's usually play though, so sloppy game tonight but he'll bounce back next week. If demuslim lost all his medivacs then the game would at least even out.

I dunno why that makes him a favorite. He's had a good series against MKP, but recently Demu beat Nestea didn't he? And I believe Delphi has an overall 37% w/r in ZvT. 51% in this year only though with 2-0 losses to Cloud and Alive for his past two series. Demuslim is 60% in contrast for this year, over 50 overall i think.
I feel like Demuslim was kind of the favorite all along, and people just rallied behind Delphi on the underhype factor.

Agree with Demuslim there, really smart play from darkforce. Those counters could have done a ton of damage but unfortunately it just didn't work out today. But really cool counter play there, reminds me of violet.

Uh I learned that a long long long time ago . Terran's fine after the patch to (they won 2 tournaments in the weekend patch came out). But yeah darkforce played from behind the whole game. I don't think he ever almost won that game though, drops were doing very well against him doing decent damage or killing bases which is always frusterating and why I dislike ling/infestor is because of how abusable it is with mass drops xd.
Man, after those games I feel bad for playing terran. That was worse than watching a protoss cutting and zoning a zergarmy with forcefields into nothingness.

Corrupter/infestor beats raven/viking in raw power imo.
Thats true, a lot will come down to micro I suppose. The raven has to get into a close range to shoot the seeker missles, so maybe a fungal to prevent them from coming in range is an option. Definitely seems micro intensive.

I think thats why so many of us cited the cast as "entertaining" rather then intelligent. So I agree that it was far more funny and fun than it was a straight forward analytical approach. EG's casters are versatile to show both sides (funny/entertaining and analysis/play by play) so the variation today was definitely an enjoyable one.

we learned that idra still can't handle his rage, and still makes stupid moves, like fighting a ton of upgraded marines with pure mutas, and thus losing all mutas.
we learned that mass medivacs are pretty good if there are no banelings and no broodlords.
we learned that zerg still has a good shot at winning the game if he can build up a infestor/broodlord/corruptor army, even if he's been ten million miles behind, and that ravens still completely suck ass, and are no viable choice against this late game army composition.

It's kinda disappointing to see how far IdrA has fallen since the beta. He always says SC2 is a terrible game and takes no skill or practice but at the same time he is attacking into entrenched positions, losing a lot of mutas, and not even attacking coherently with his whole army.
I just feel like IdrA's mentality has finally seeped so much into his gameplay that maybe there's no turning back now. It's like he's saying "I'm so much better than you that I don't have to control or engage properly". I really hope, somehow, that someone on EG gets through to him about his mentality.
Just watched first set between DeMusliM and Delphi and I have to say that is the most hilarious commentating ever.
How they introduced both player. (or should I say the lack off) How Machine was taunting DeMusliM in the start. How DeMusliM was commentating that rush.
HILARIOUS! I recommend watching that VOD from around 1u20 till 1u40 if you didnt.

I can definitely see where you are coming from, while the games where highly entertaining there was a deep lack of analysis. For me it was okay as I was simply looking for entertainment, but someone who tuned in to get analysis might feel dissappointed.
I rooted for ATN, tough but still thought it was funny as Machine did a very good job in trashtalking back to DeMuslim which made this cast so awesome. It's the entertaining E.G.-Style of trashtalk one can expect from them. I can enjoy that because they are not biased and they even trashtalk themselves. I mean they even made good jokes about Idra and stuff, loved it.

Cause if u dont make an analysis you re not "casting" a game ? Of course not and i dont think im the only one who watch games and casts to have fun and not to learn how to play or not (i can go to Day9 Vods then).
Entertaining cast, though the games... Well straight up, the winners are just better players and showed it. Only the 2nd set, I wouldn't be able to predict with (almost) 100% certainty, but even then idra is in a huge slump and Cloud is pretty damn good.

And still no gg, even in his own team's league... talk about disrespect. Just because he played horribly doesn't mean his opponent didn't play a good game. I understand people go on slumps but if you don't act so damn aloof while failing miserably more often than accomplishing anything at all, I expect people would be much more forgiving, or at least less critical.

How is this still surprising? I can't believe people still complain about idra not GG'ing when he has like never done it in online tournaments except on rare occasion. It's not going to change who cares.
idra is of the opinion you should only shake hands if the other persons medical condition requires you to shake their hand. same with the gg, he is literally saying it was good game. but if you havent apologised for playing that race how can there ever be a good game?
