Casters: Jake "orb" Sklarew & Geoff "iNcontroL" Robinson Format
The Evil Geniuses Master’s Cup Series League will feature 12 teams in a round robin format with each team matchup containing at least four best of three games between two teams. The top four teams at the end of the season will advance to the playoffs on a two day live broadcast weekend. Results Mousesports vs SlayerS
Miya is actually pretty good, I saw him defeating Puma in Korean Weekly (or was it EWM? Not sure). So Morrow will have it tough. It can go either way imo. Other than that, Hasu vs Crank can also go either way, imho Crank will take it. MaNa and Thorzain should be able to win their respective matches (although I dont know how much MaNa practices nowadays since he is still in school and all that jazz...) I can see it going to ace match and we will see who will play in it...

No it wouldn't. Slayers should be more responsible about who they send out - if these guys lose, their entire team does.
Mere wordplay. No one in the right mind would consider beating this team the same as beating MMA, Ganzi, Puzzle and Taeja. You can pretend otherwise but everyone knows it.

Check all results SlayerS vs mouz and you will eventually see that they already beat Puzzle, Ganzi etc...

Certainly not, but it'd still be a big upset considering Clide and Alicia once were in Code S for multiple seasons while none of the mouz players ever advanced past the first round of Code A. And they beat some of those players in the IPL Team Arena so it's not like they haven't proven they can do it.
Mouz should be the favorite to win it. Morrow vs. Miya seems about even, Miya was once brought out to snipe ThorZaiN (IPLTAC) , but barely failed in doing that. Hasuobs is the heavy favorite against crank, who has a 25% pvp-record and has never won a series against a Protoss (but lost to MaNa, Bischu and DdoRo). Clide is slumping atm and it uis PvT, so I give a slight edge to MaNa in that match. I can´t really comment on Alicia, because I have not seem him for a while now, I think they are avout even as well.

Mouz could win.
Hasu's best matchup is PvT. PvP is statistically his worst matchup and as far as I know HasuObs also said that it's his worst matchup, although you could make a case for his PvZ lately.
Morrow's TvZ is probably his best match-up recently (his games vs Leenock were amazing) Hasu's PvP may be his worst, but he's still pretty good at it, so he has a good chance Mana's PvT is amazing Thorzain's TvP is pretty good too, but it is Alicia, so who knows
Mouz have a good shot, they rock and slayers haven't taken this as seriously as they should, which is surprising given that Slayers all rate Thorzain very highly.
Mouz should be able to take this IMO. SlayerS not fielding their very best but it's still a good lineup of former Code S players, a very good new player, Crank and a relatively unknown zerg Miya. SlayerS also have GSTL upcoming up so they're probably saving their best players/strats for that and also giving the other players a chance to play in tournaments.

Cool tournament, glad 2v2 is gone, awful times as per usual. Mouz should take this fairly easy. Miya has not impressed in the few times he's played, Clide is down for the count, Crank sort of gets wins here and there but should be beaten by Hasu and Alicia hates Terrans Cool to see a rebroadcast but since the VoD's are usually up very quickly I doubt I will watch any of those

Its nice you read what time it is but decided to skip the format. Well played. Mouz does have a great shot at winning this, however I'm just most excited to see Cliiiide play
This should be sweet, really excited. Kinda wish Slayers played some A-teamers, but oh well. Could you include a liquipedia link in these posts though? They're handy to have.
B team. This could be bad for Mouz and the rest of the foreign teams' prospects if a top foreign team can't even beat a Korean B team (none of which are in the GSL).

I'm actually excited to watch the Slayers lineup because: 1. Crank is awesome. 2. Haven't seen Miya too much. 3. Hopefully Clide will be coming back to Code A (or S)? 4. Alicia forever lives in my mind as The Situation-Toss.
Well done EG well done. These first match-ups look sick-even. I want to see Thorzain take on alicia. EG vs Millennium so good! All of these match-ups are going to be nail-bitters.

NASTL is BO1 while EGMC is BO3 in every match, not only the ace match.
Those are some FANTASTIC matchups for Mouze, other than Morrow maybe. Thorzain vs Alicia could go either way but I'll give the edge to Thorzain, he's a TvP beast.

Regarding Miya beating PuMa in EWM, I haven't seen the games and Miya may actually have played really well, but the result itself doesn't speak for much. PuMa was up from 3-11AM that morning playing in the IPL4 qualifier, went to sleep after that and woke up after a couple of hours to play against Miya. He was completely exhausted and was considering forfeiting, but at the end he decided to give it a try anyway even though he figured he probably wouldn't win.
I think this will be a close one, maybe 3-2 either way. Keep in mind that these games were played on the NA server, which should've given Mouz some advantage. MaNa is a PvT beast and I think would favor to win even if it's against the godly Cliiiiide, who hasn't been in action for a while. I would have also predicted MorroW to win as he generally plays very well in clan wars and his TvZ is actually pretty good, but the recent ghost nerf is big curveball. Most TvZ games I've seen from MorroW lately were heavy macro play very much reliant on ghosts. Thozain has excellent TvP, but protoss have been doing quite well against Terran lately in competitions, and of course Alicia is no slouch himself.

Agreed. OrbControl + newer SlayerS players + hardcore Mouz players + opening a beer and kicking back... all I can hope for is that they split games and we go to an ace match!
yeah missed incontrol casting x3. And got a bit trolled being sleepy and all ... hey the terran just won ... why did they give morrow a point ... oh he is playing a zerg, so he is terran. Seeing its slayers I assumed it is a terran ^^; Glad though almost missed this.

You can't really be agressive vs Z as T on Metropolis if the Z actually knows his stuff. That's why MorroW always uses that playstyle on that map
That may be true, but I only saw one marine drop out of him. Miya had to walk infestor/broodlords over to it just to deal with it and it almost killed the hatchery. I think if he stuck to marine drops instead of that nuking in the main he would have had some more success.
orb dropping knowledge bombs.. 70 seconds for creep of overlord to go away is pretty cool to know. also heard him on Incontrols stream earlier give a great tip about counting workers in the early game. really like casters with a lot of game knowledge. keep up the good work orb

Best line of the night so far :D
Yeah I laughed heartily at that lol.
The answer for Terran's is to not let the zerg get to that point, with the current map pool it's harder for certain, but finishing a game before 4 bases are taken or crippling the zerg before late, late game is really what the matchup comes down to until mech or ravens are actually solved.
wow infestors arrived in time to stop the marines, the emps where good at the start of the fight, but pdd or viking upgrades where missing to win the air fight, to bad thors do no damage against corrupters even if they hit 20 at once, while vikings have to split against a radius 2 spell. Nice game though, liked the orbital wall, glad they are finally used at the front.

hasu always plays really smart, but he doesn't like spreading his army in pvp, which is a problem after koreans picked up that there is more the one basing in pvp. As they just have the better concave, even if hasu is ahead.

Mouz beat Slayers before in the IPL TAC last December, and Slayers fielded guys like Puzzle and Ryung. Slayers is now fielding B-teamers. Furthermore, the games have been close, and the games have been pretty even.

I thought SlayerS 5-3 over Mouz in IPL last season. Never mind, that was the previous season.
Besides, Hasu could definitely have had game 3. His build is really weird though. 2 zeals then stalker, delayed gas mining. The two zealots can do some nice damage for sure.

Slayers did beat Mouz 5-3 in the Team-KOTH, but in the actual IPLTAC Mouz won 5-4.

Yes, but what was interesting about the 5-3 victory was that Slayers was fielding their complete A-team: Ryung, Puzzle, Coca were all fielded (all were in Code S at the time), and Mouz still managed to put up a great fight.
I'm a Slayers fan but Mouz can definitely bring this to the ace match. Clide and Alicia have been kind of shakey lately and it's vs Mana/Thorzain's best matchups.

The 1-2 seconds sound delay was nothing, ever since the system reboot (after Crank's 4gate win), the stream is constantly reloading/freezing for a few seconds.

You're right, 720p+ is working fine, I wish they'd fix the lower res, I gotta watch my bandwidth limit...! Decisions...
Thorzain's spooning coming back to bite him in the ass this game. Really should have won it when he had stim+medivacs against Alicia with no tech whatsoever.
If you're lagging try the 720p+ option, it's being streamed using a tricaster which seems to cause problems for the low resolution transcodes. Hopefully they will fix it for the next broadcast!

That's so weird, usually the higher resolutions lag more.
Great play from ThorZain! Loving the casting combo from Orb/iNcontroL
Are these live, or how recent are the replays?
No date released but they seem to be pretty recent. In the first series between morrow and Miya, they referenced the ghost snipe nerf from the latest patch. Also, wednesdays broadcast between EG and Mill still need to be played. So if they are consistent should just be a few days old.
nitro packs in research ! awww would have loved to see reaper vs chargelot. Looked like they are switching servers around.(wonder if they do or just play on na all the way) Game 2 ghosts died with tons of energy, game 3 templars died in masses, but against ghost viking, just one observer not a wise decision. Still was nice to see alicia again.
Was expecting Mana, since I was expecting a Slayers terran. Surprising that it worked out anyway, I guess Mouz knew that they weren't using any of the top terrans.

I've never even heard of Crank. Though I have to say, that was an excellent game to watch. There were many times I thought Thorzain was going to win, especially with the 1st push when Crank didn't have all of his units attack.

That was Brown, indeed!
Edit: Crank did not All-Kill Millenium. He defeated Stephano, then lost to Adelscott. After that Golden won 3 in a row to end the series.
The key to that game was where Thorzain decided to set up with his initial push. He sieged up right in front of the nexus, where he could easily be flanked from both sides. If he had gone further to the back and sieged in a corner or behind the nexus, it would have gone so much better. That's what you need to do when there are units loose outside.

Thorzain SHOULD'VE trapped the Protoss army at 6oclock with nukes once he drew them down there with Reapers, that would've left Thorzain's army free to run over the Protoss bases

I've seen midgame reapers from MKP on HerO's stream. Last time BoxeR streamed he added in a ton of reapers in the super lategame in a very scrappy game. iNcontroL sounds kinda ignorant saying the ThorZaIN is the first and only terran to do this.

Mmmh, qxc was definitively one of the first to do it (I am not sure of who did it "first") but all I know is ThorZaIN does this very frequently and that he was most likely the one who taught SlayerS terrans about it.

Great job for TZain, one of the few foreigner terrans who can size up with Korean terrans.
Everyone should keep in mind though, this is still the best foreigners vs korean B-teamers. The skill gap is still quite large, and I feel like Genius, Parting, etc vs TZain would dismantle him. Hoping that one day foreigners can be feared by the very best from Korea.

There are more players on slayers better than Alicia than mouz has players.
yay Mouz <3 epic those games. Glad i stayed up. First stable reaper build i know of was Lzgamer in beta, 3 raks reaper, became 5 raks, after the first build time nerf from blizzard to it. The mean part of this build, build reapers do damage, retreat and come back with marauders to conter the reaper conter. Wasn't really op, but people overcommited so hardcore to reapers, that it looked that way.

I don't know about Crank but Alicia is hardly a B-teamer
Alicia is also hardly in Slayer's top 4. MMA, Ganzi, Puzzle, Brown, sounds a lot scarier than Miya, Crank, Alicia, Clide.

The better SlayerS players may have been training for or attending other tournaments during this time so they sent the strongest players available.
Just woke up to the ace matches.. great job mouz and Thorzain!! I am also happy for EG, they were one of the first to do a team league and now there are so many of them, but that was the first step to stand out in the crowd

Which still is getting further away from my argument about the skill gap.
12 teams so roughly 6 matches per week and it looks like there will be 11 weeks of competition.
6 matches per week.
66 Matches. At least 264 Bo3 sets. (Assuming no Ace Matches) At least 528 games. (Assuming all matches go 2-0)
+ Playoffs?
Where do I throw my money, seriously?
Yeah, it's insane. Only drawback is that I don't like this format. I prefer the GSTL/IPLTAC one :<
I like the ProLeague format, it's refreshing. All-Kills are nice to watch and all, but I enjoy seeing depth in rosters.
I get enough Winner's League from IPL TAC/GSTL/KSL
Mmmh, it's nice with some refreshing. And this format focuses on the performance of the whole team instead of one player possibly just sweeping everyone. ^^ It's not a major issue though, as like 99% of all leagues in wc3 used this type of format I'm used to it.
I only started to tune in during the Thorzain v. Alicia, but it was two of the best TvP series I've seen in a long time, and Orb and iNcontroL did a great job casting, hope to see that casting duo more. Thorzain is actually just really good at SC2 I hear...

You ruined the discussion by calling them b-teamers from the beginning. The fact that you have to bring out argubly top 3 players of their race (in the world) to make an argument is pretty silly in the first place. You can't argue a skill gap if you judge the skill gap by a handful of players...

Mouz could win.
pvp is not hasus best matchup.... his pvt is much better
Caught the end of games, put man the result surpised me. I hope slayers takes it more seriously for there next match, and we see some of there top players. Also Orb with a co caster to do detail analysis is much better than him solo casting ( course in general i prefer 2 casters, one play by play and one analytical.)
I was considering endgame reapers some weeks ago after a super long TvP in Shakuras plateu of all maps. It's cool to see that Thorzain puts it into effect and how it works. This is really educational for me as I can see it in play without experimenting with it.
