So is MKP back to resident kong of SC2?

MLG is considered a major championship and as long as you have one major championship you're no longer really a kong. On top of that MKP took out DRG who is snow a GSL champion which further legitimizes his championship IMO

Wow you do not know what kong means.

1) This was not a regular MLG. Do you consider Arena of Legends to be GSL? Cause MKP already won that too.

2) Beating a champion in a special event doesn't make it a major championship.

MKP definitely still the King of Kongs.

Loses game 4, gets BMed by DRG in the booth. Makes mistakes in game 5, gets BMed again. Genius makes more mistakes than ever. The rest is history.

Mind games victory goes to DRG, and you can hear in Genius' speech what he thinks about that. Maybe building carriers is a bit BM but doesn't warrant mid game booth BMing. Considering how tight rules are ingame about chatting only reserved to pp and gg. In between game unspoken rules were broken by DRG imo. Going into another player's booth during a finals no less should not be considered acceptable. The gap at the top is so small and anything can affect you at the highest level. It really takes the shine of DRG's victory and first GSL. Now I look at him in a different light.

Felt really bad about that. Lost a lot of respect for DRG.

You could see how Genius was shaken by that

I woulda shoved him out of my booth and slammed the door on his face for trying to fuck with me

So sad that someone had to lose this... while DRG is the more accomplished player, it's incredible that you can beat DRG, sC, MKP, Nestea, MC, and Alive in the same tournament and still leave with the 2nd place trophy.
During practice session, I discovered very good build against zerg. -Bisu[Shield]

Completely false, being a pro gamer allows you to delay your service for quite a long time. Just look at Nada and July, they still have yet to start their service and they are some of the older players.

TvZ, TvT, TvP, all great matchups imo with TvP the worst but still watchable.

Gogo MVP,MMA,Jjakji,Polt!

No Gumiho and Alive?

Not even a MKP.

But yeah, happy we got a PvZ finals. Would unfortunately still prefer a terran in finals since those matchups are so much better figured out as a whole and interesting.

I wonder what the big issue is with PvZ? I wonder if there's a big part of there still not being enough super high calibre Protoss or Zerg players in Korea, whilst Terran can easily list 10 off the bat?

The super tournament one was pretty nice, but I think its the only one.

Nothing wrong with making out with an alien tentacle.

Anyway, another great GSL season wrapped up. I think the level of play across it was certainly the highest we've ever had, though the finals probably didn't manage to reflect that in the end (I'd chalk that up to having to prepare for a teammate).

DRG as the best player in the world? It seems hard to argue otherwise.

Mlg winter arena is not on the pro circuit so it can be considered a special event like AoL, I think Kong should apply to GSL only since there too many 'major' tournaments now with mlg, dreamhack, ipl, assembly and since Kong is a Korean term and Yellow got it for not winning MSL, OSL

Even if the finals weren't perfect, this season of GSL has been absurdly amazing, the average game quality is suuupper high right now in Korea, which is awesome. Its no wonder a huge crowd turned out today.

How can people call this GSL finals bad, when it's been WAY better than the finals for MLG/Assembly/IEM etc.

Coz the last game genius made a mistake that is below plat level, he can take any expansion when he had the army advantage but he chose to do the only 1 out of the 9999 things that could possibly lose him the game

Oh really. Take a third vs Zerg on Crossfire? The second he moves out that third is dead in 6 seconds by a counter attack. If he sits there then DRG takes 2 bases and masses more Muta while teching to Hive forcing a base trade if he moves out or taking him out with a BL Infestor tech switch. You have no idea what you are talking about.

He made mistakes but not taking an expo was not one of them.

I thought John said it was just because Genius sincerely thought that this was his best shot (no real reason given other than this was his peak)

Me too, dunno what all the whine is about >_> best PvZ finals we've ever had for sure at least.

don't you know? the cool thing to do on TL is to bitch about how nobody is playing perfectly and to think that everything is a conspiracy theory.

the games were EXCITING, which is first and foremost what we should be looking for as SPECTATORS. if you want perfect play, go watch someone's stream. if you want to learn, go watch someone's stream. stop bitching in a LR thread. compared to LR threads in the bw section, sc2 LR threads are full of whiny little entitled cunts. appreciate the players and the games ffs.

You really think watching a random stream is more likely to show the highest level play - over a GSL Code S final?

It's simply to do with some people's expectations not being met. If you expect to just see fun games that's fine, some people expect to see very few mistakes and what they perceive to be high level play, which is also reasonable considering this is meant to be the hardest tourney to win because it has the best players in the world in it.

If your expectations aren't met you feel disappointment, it they are met you feel satisfied. No matter if other people think they are unreasonable or wrong or whatever.

Best trophy.

I would have removed the base and added a handle so i could walk around with it like a baller sword from Final Fantasy.

The bottle of Belvedere would be a pretty nice trophy.
