We have fully announced the 16 players who will be participating in the RaidCall Starcraft II Invitiational. You can find the bracket over at fnatic.com.
We have invited 16 of Europe's best players, who will play in a Single Elimination bracket for the total prize fund of $1,500. Each match all the way up to the final will be played in a Best of Three format, whereas the final will be a Best of Five.
The tournament will run from February 28th through March 2nd. Players in the upper half of the bracket will play their matches on 28th, while players from the lower half will do the same on the 1st of March. The semifinals, third place match and the final series will be played on March 2nd. All matches will be casted by Thomas "Khaldor" Kilian.
Prize fund distribution:
1st place - $1,000 2nd place - $300 3rd place - $200

I'm really looking forward to this event. It's similar to other on-line tournaments like MSI cup or TotalBiscuit invitational, so I expect to enjoy it a lot. After small holidays in the last week, I'm playing better than before, so I think i have a good shot at winning the tournament. However the competition is tough, so we will see how it goes for me.

Why do people complain about ZvZ? This isn't the beta, there's all kinds of strategical variations including a large defenders advantage and very mechanics oriented play.
ZvZ and PvP isn't that bad nowadays compared to how it was, 1 strategy matchups are no more. This looks exciting, was a long time since I watched a all european tournament. Nowadays every tournament needs code S koreans to even be considered exciting (although we will see, maybe the next batch of players is just koreans all over :p). Gogo SjoW!

Snute seemed to have an off day didnt play his beast. And real punish him with his 2 base timing attack
1st game +2 blink stalker timing attack Snute defended it at first but then he tryed to deny reals 3rd and lost way to many roaches and he was teching to infestors and didnt had the larva or the money..
2nd game.
6 gate + stargate voidray attack was very nicely done by real attacked on snutes 3rd and in his main. Had some hidden pylons so he could warp in and well nothing Snute could do there

Gold Z player so I don't feel comfortable making predictions but he had 1 stalker + 2 sentries. Chrono'ed an immortal out but was to late. He didn't make a single zealot I think.

Not that I dislike stephano or anything personally, but as you said, it is irritating as hell when you see him do that crap so effortlessly because you think you can do it, its so easy, but then you fail because you are not as good as stephano....grr LOL

That's because Stephano played far better, and is far more interesting to discuss, seeing as he is one of maybe 3 foreigners who can be compared favourably to GSL Koreans, and the only 1 not practicing in Korea.

Yeah, was a little bit too much imo. Even when I love Stephano but declaring the game over after 2 minutes...don't like it.

I thought he did well explaining that DBS was doing really well, but stephano is just on another level...but yes he did focus on stephano a lot, mostly because he was dictating the game
Khaldor seems a bit obsessed by Stephano tho, it will be fun if he does the same against Titan and Titan actually takes a map or the bo3 It'll be interesting to see what Titan will choose to do against Stephano's scary ZvP, he is actually quite good.

I actually agree, he was very biased in the second game. Doesn't matter if Stephano played great, DBS played at least very well.
Hard not to be a Stephano fanboy when the bulk of touranments you cast is EU tournaments. Stephano is pretty much a bonjwa in Europe - I don't know of anyone who can really match him in EU/NA.

But I think you can't take too much from that game. Obviously Stephano is some levels above DBS. I think he would crushed him way earlier if he played his ling style. I don't know if that Double Spire build is really that good.
I am a Stephano (and Khaldor) fan myself, but this casting went a bit too far.

Sigh, tourneys using old maps is really unacceptable... the version of Tal'darim Altar they are using is over a year old (as in it was changed over a year ago when it was adopted from the GSL to the ladder) DBS expected it to be the Ladder Edition which is the only version of the map that has been in competitive play for the last 12 months. I have a feeling this is a huge mistake as he was planning on using the low ground between the main and 3rd... map versions make a huge difference, imo.

It's not so much the Korean style Stephano struggles against - after all, he was going toe-to-toe with a number of Korean Protosses on ladder eg Sage, Oz etc. MC is just a total boss, and has his own unique style that very few players, Korean or no, can emulate successfully.

Well I'd say MC is quite an exception because of his insane blink stalkers micro and his insane 2 bases timing pushes, Stephano bested quite a few protoss while in Korea (one of them being Hero at the blizz cup), and I'd say his ZvP is even better now, even more solid against 2 bases pushes, so hopefully we will see him faced against names like Puzzle, Oz, Genius, HerO or MC again soon !

Well, InorI isliving in the US, isn't he? If we count him we should also count ReaL. Well, I don't Also I doubt the ladder for the most part. Too many people just practice special builds regardless of what the opponent builds or don't take lader seriusly at all. Hell, there was a time where Puzzle just 3pylon blocked every zerg he met on ladder..:D

I have seen him do that 10p build many many times.
This is the first time i have not seen it work.
What he does is create all those lings, then power run through the zel until he has 6 on the other side. Then his lings just rape everything. That is the strat, from what i have seen. BUT fortunate for Titan he had 3 zels to create a wall that could not be penetrated. Smart Titan.

To get back on topic: I am so confused about stephano's play on shakuras; his BO = wtf. It's almost as if he's trying to create a sort of handicap for himself because he considers a zvp vs titan too easy without it x_x;: the funny thing is is that he might actually pull this crazy shit off :O.

That's imho his best advantage against koreans or any kind of strong opponent : he is able to play at his best level against anyone, in front of a huge crowd or alone in his room, whatever the name of his opponent is. He never rages, goes on a tilt or loses his focus. He plays for fun and doesn't let results affect his mental state. Only thing affecting his play is tiredness. Now comes one of the Stephano's best ZvP maps, let's see what Titan will do. A very strong 2 bases push would be adequate, I think.
Interesting choice from Titan, nice mind game, I'm sure Stephano expects a 2 bases push, so maybe he'll be able to secure his third. Not sure if he has the skills to face Stephano's late game though.

TiTaN is an absolute monster online. It is amazing the difference between playing LAN and online makes for him, he needs to overcome his nerve issues if he wants to be more successful.
i think stephano is not playing so hard.. game 2 on shakuras was simply a very strange build and in this game he is want to win with only roach ling, but it is simply impossible.

titan's first win stephano fell behind early. you can write that one off if that's your thing. his 2nd win was absolutely a standard game by both players.

Yeah but he was able to hold the 3rd because he went double robo immortals and cannons. It's a well thought out build, but weak to a tech timing with infestors or mutas. Stephano walked right into it though.

I feel that's the reason too. How many zvp have we seen where he just rolls over the protoss with a constant stream of units after making 70 drones? Titan held it so well with the immortals and cannons making the difference.

Considering Stephanos playstyle in the third game I'm sure glad he lost the third game. It's ok to pressure an early third with roach/ling, but he realized way too late that it isn't going to work. Quite happy to see a protoss try to take a third instead of doing some stupid 2 base agression too, so, Titan, job well done

So then why don't all protoss take 7/8min thirds every game instead of the 10/11 min ones we usually see off forge fe's. Its because mass roach normally just rolls over it until you have a cost efficient army (10/11mins) vs it. Titan played mechanically better than stephano with his macro and micro in that situation. It had nothing to do with strats.
The only other option was fast hive but that still could have gone either way with titan having a much faster deathball than normal with his greedy third
The usual music was playing and you could always hear Mana talking to Khaldor even though you couldn't hear Khaldor himself. So it was kind of a nonsense conversation Mana had with himself ^.^
Nerchio is 100% not used to titan's timings and playstyle, but its no reason to get upset. Titan's unit control is very impressive, he understands positioning really well
