Sure on match day that may be all, but pretty sure coaches assist/regulate training and all that as well, unless I am mistaken, I am mostly taking this from things I have read from Broodwar coaches talking about training players and such.

Some coaches like iloveoov and Ryu Won come up with the actual builds players use in the games. They're much more important than just managing and moral support.
