Koreans can edge it out in games by the skin of their teeth and there's always going to be people who will drop posts like "outclassed" and "skill gap" etc. -_- Every single series since yesterday could easily have gone either way. Well to be fair at pro-level play if you can edge out a close win every time then you ARE definitely outclassing your opponent and there's indeed a skill gap.

They don't play the same guy over and over again tho, in which case you would have made a point :p

The point is actually that Supernova is playing terribly off his game. That's not trying to make the foreigners seem worse than they are, but Supernova's just been making mistakes left and right that are - by his normal standards - elementary and which he shouldn't make. Honestly when I saw his matches with Sliv, I was certain he was going to lose in the semis. It looks bad when a Code S Terran playing close to his worst somehow makes it to the finals.

Huh? The LR threads past few days have been pretty much "WTF is wrong with Supernova???" and balance whine and then talk about how he's not playing up to level; same with Violet. Same with the foreigners b/c they really fucked up their leads. It's actually been quite a bunch of sad games not up to the usual level people expect... I really have no idea where you're getting this impression from. If it did go the other way, I'd wager we'd have more unrealistic hyping of foreigners more than talk of Korean domination.

Just general whining on my part, my ISP is choking my bandwidth atm due to my brother's rampant downloading so I've had to rely on LRs for nearly a week! Just the kind of thing that really shouldn't be in LR threads, or at least as prevalent. 1. 'Owned' 'Outclassed' when used in the context of a 3-2, close series, it's fucking irritating. Check out Oz vs Flo in (I think) NASTL, THAT is getting owned ok? 2. The Korean vs Foreigner thing, is just getting irritating as it's not even based on results or anything, but merely people cherrypicking games to suit whatever preconceptions they have. At least in the GSL or MLGs the results vaguely matter, in that it's the creme de la creme of both scenes facing off, but in other events it's really not that relevant. MMA winning IEM Kiev for example hardly validates the supremacy of the Korean scene, given he's a guy that beats even the best Korean players consistently. 3. Rampant player bashing. Yeah it's done in so-called 'real' sports, but it's obnoxious tribalism at its worst there, so why ape it? Root for your guy by all means, it adds to the fun but there is far too much vitriol aimed at people who play this game at another level to the VAST majority of the people that post here. Apart from that, cheers to those guys putting in good posts here, helps me and others who can't watch the games. An invaluable service much appreciated!

To be fair, sLivko had better days than the quarterfinal as well. And if he wouldn´t have had to much respect for Supernova, he could have easily won the match, although this wasn´t his best day either.

What makes you think Supernova's opponents played their A game either? They also made elementary mistakes which they shouldn't (and normally don't) make and basically gave him wins (literally, multiple times). Everybody goes into games with the intent to play the best games they're capable of at the moment, and that's exactly what they do. The thing is people have built this entire imaginary flowchart of rationalizing of why the results happen and projecting what should have happened based on some imaginary standards they hold the players up to.

I agree people go over the top with it after close games... but lets look at the results overall so fa in sc2. MLG only 1 foreigner has won since Koreans starting coming over(A foreigner who has been training in Korea forever nontheless..) IEM- dominated by Koreans GSL - No foreigners in Code S, Most have dropped out of Code A all together... Dreamhack - Don't remember most results, I think this has been the closest one to 50/50 Korean/Foreigner winning. NASL - both times Korean vs Korean Finals. Yes they are circumstances you can't count for which may lead to Koreans wins. But overall Koreans have been very dominant. Anyway back on topic... Go go Go RET!
