The Round Table is a new weekly podcast and showmatch series that will be hosted by Gretorp, Doa, and GoSuRuM. Each week we will be accompanied by two guest players, that will take part in an hour long podcast, followed by a BO 5 Showmatch. The Podcast will cover a range of topics in our scene, as well as a 15 minute segment of user questions. Immediately following the showmatch will take place.
This weeks guests are QxGDestiny and RGNAxslav!
When will this event take place? 2/15 at 9:00 PM PST. The event will be recurring every Wednesday night at 9:00 PM PST.
everyone should tune in just to hear DOA's awesome accents from all around the U S of A. they are top drawer... also Gretorp's impression of Gollum was pretty damn good lol.
Destiny knows how to abuse wins in ZvP. Axslav's ZvP style is very macro focused and he's really calm when crazy shit comes at him. So because of that I think he'll do fine against Destiny, but then again, spines and mutas...
I reckon Destiny wins...I think he's the better player of the two, but i think Axslav will get at least one game off him...should all be pretty good games but =)

Here's hoping he can get a map or two to make it interesting.
Won a Bo7 against iNcontrol last week, even though he admitted that iNc shut down his mutas hard. I hope the games are close, both players I like who are coming up.
This should be pretty close. Destiny vs Incontrol was close and Incontrol and Axslav help each other a lot in training. I think it was Axslav who presented the effectiveness of that 1 cannon thing that Incontrol loves to do, in fact. Also Axslav plays well against Muta from what I've seen.
Incoming in a few hours, I cant wait! The podcast portion of the show tonight will be a blast, both players have great personalities and good behind the scene knowledge.
I think Axslav will win. Destiny did take out some high-profile players, such as MaNa and Hasu and Choya, but those were all best of 1's. For example. in the iNcontroL showmatch, Destiny barely won 5-4. He can snipe wins in team series, but I think Axslav will pick up on Destiny's shenanigans and manage.
I doubt Axslav will be caught off guard 3 games in a row, especially since Destiny really only has a few good builds. (the mass muta one for example, I doubt he'll lose to it twice.)
I am a Destiny fan but I'm just being realistic. I predict Axslav will win but Destiny will take at least one game, I feel.
Axslav is a bit slow, so Destiny's mutas may take him down a notch. Depends on the maps I guess. Then again, slow and methodical can work well with a passive expand style (8 cannons + 2 templar per base)... Destiny has been looking pretty good lately.
Hmm. Going with my heart on this one, Axslav one of my favorite streamers. 3-2 Ax GOGO

1-0 Axslav.
Game one: Dual Sight. Axslav pushes with a few immortals and some great FFs. Takes out Destiny's third, takes his own. Then pulls too far ahead. Has some more amazing FF play and is really cost efficient with his units against roaches and lings. Destiny doesn't gg (accident).
Game two: Metalopolis. Close air positions. Axslav FFEs, Destiny stays on 2 bases until 8 minutes; Axslav never pressures, letting Destiny drone up. Destiny up 120-70 supply by 12 minute mark, denies Axslav's third. Overruns Axslav's gateway army with slings and roaches.
Game three: Daybreak. Axslav blocks Destiny's natural, so Destiny takes his third and then natural. Axslav FFEs and goes stargate- voidray into 4 phoenixes. Destiny makes a ton of spores, so he doesn't take much damage. It gives Axslav time to get his third up though. Spire vs. colossus and blink transitions are the next stages. Mutalisks come out but can't do much damage. By 14 minutes, templar archives has finished because Destiny's muta ball is getting scary. Destiny takes a fourth while he still has map control (via mutas). About 170 supply for both players at the 17 minute mark. Axslav takes a fourth in the middle, rather than his side... and he made like twenty cannons in front of that base and zero behind the nexus lol. There are so many cannons and spine crawlers everywhere that no one can do much yet... (@ 23 minutes). Just a lot of flying and running around. Mothership and broodlords finally at 25 minutes. End game incoming. Both players on 5 bases. Axslav sacrificing more units unfavorably... but he recalls past 50 spines and takes out Zerg tech. (@ 30 min) But! Destiny responds by countering with his air fleet lol. They both have very low income. Mutas are flying around so easily, sniping nexuses, but Axslav's army is still a lot bigger. At this point it's 35 minutes into the game, and the onus is on Destiny to move forward because Axslav has control of the middle. But he's just sitting there. Destiny has almost no income at all. Sitting on his 3 mined out bases with tons of spine crawlers, brood lords, and mutas. Axslav shouldn't engage at all; he should mine out both of the middle bases and the bases on his side. And that's what he's doing. 30 broodlords for Destiny. lol. He's sacrificing drones. Finally Destiny a-moves everything. He didn't spread his units at all. Double vortex with perfect unit composition. Axslav deserved to win this game. "lol" from Destiny.

Destiny had no infestors, no corrupters. You need to build something to counter the mother ship, destiny just played a super silly style. "Mutas are good! I'll make nothing but mutas! Oh, that didn't win? BLs are good! NOTHING BUT BLs!"
Its just like his old ZvP "NOTHING BUT INFESTORS!!!!!!!!"

You can't spread your broodlords at that point. Double vortex makes it fruitless.

Game four: Shakuras Plateau. Axslav top right; Destiny bottom left.
Axslav FFEs, pylon blocks (+ fake cannon) Destiny's natural, but Destiny expands there after the pylon dies anyway. Bobby Lee from MadTV thinks Gretorp is Mexican. (I don't know either but that's what Gretorp is saying.) @ 8 minutes: Destiny takes a fast third and a double roach warren. Axslav goes stargate. @ 10 minutes: sling/ roach with fast upgrades barely holds off a big zealot/ void push. Spores are pretty good against void rays. Axslav ahead though. @ 12 minutes: Axslav takes pocket expansion. He has like a million sentries. Immortal coming out because he saw the mass roaches, but mainly mass gateways. Blink tech too. @ 14:30- A void ray killed an infestor, and the casters went crazy. @17:00- 150 supply each. Colossus tech and storm going down for Axslav. Burrow and hive and fourth being taken (top left). Fourth immediately picked off by Axslav warping in a round of zealots. @18:00- Spire going down, colossus and high templar out. Both players pretty much maxed. Axslav with the better unit composition by far. Axslav has the top middle base well defended. @20:00- Axslav pushes, engages better, rolls Destiny. "g" from Destiny.
So Axslav beat destiny easy 3-1, but Incontrol lost 3-2. Why was axslav kicked from EG when incontrol is still there? Ahh yea thats right, incontrol is funny......or somehing!

His first vortex completely missed the broodlords in that game His second one managed to get them all. He knew there was a mothership, and he saw it coming. And he knows the game is over if all his units get sucked in at once. ::shrugs:: Just saying.

You must be young because you have no idea how much it costs to run a business. Let alone a business in a small market like esports. Much less possibility of making money. Has nothing to do with skills. Players need to have value in order for the business or team to make back their money and pay the players. It's not that shocking that incontrol has a higher value for EG.

I think it's because there are more important qualities in a team and a pro-gamer than one showmatch against one player. I may be wrong though.

??? Are you trying to say Axslav didn't play better? Destiny made two roach warrens off 1 gas and spent forever not using them. Axslav was the better player by FAR and pointing that out isn't bias.
Calling DarkPlasmaBall silly for LRing is beyond childish. If you think he's not doing a good job, take the time to do your own "unbiased" LR instead of shitting on his hard work.

They didn't get enough ROI on him. Which is stupid seeming as they never sent him to events to find out...there was ESWC and he made it out of his group and lost to Stephano who went on to win the whole thing, and that was it :-/

they sent him to multiple MLGs and every tournament he qualified for.
I like Axslav, I think he is a very good player and will surprise people this year. I also think that EG wanted to keep him, but didnt make as good as an offer as Reign. Also I believe Axslav used to live in San Jose before he moved into the EG Lair. The Reign house is very close to San Jose.

Axslav's parting with EG was decided before any offer from ReIGN. And EG did send him to events - he went to at least three or four MLGs as well as IEM NY for EG. EG is a team based on big name individuals and building those as a team, and Axslav is much more suited for ReIGN which gives him a solid practce environment with good players and gives him plenty of room to build up his skill and popularity.

Yeah, exactly. Part of being a successful team is having money, and getting money is entirely dependent on sponsorships. Popularity sells.
This should be pretty obvious unless you live in a dream world.
Wow, my prediction was 100% accurate! (Axslav 3-1 Destiny)
And about Axslav leaving EG instead of iNcontroL....there's more to it than just that incontrol is "funny" and that's honestly a pretty stupid thing to say...
Really, even though Axslav is probably better than incontrol, they basically had similar results, according to their Liquipedia results pages. (In every tournament they entered, they were around the top 20-30). Except for MLG, which I don't think counts, since incontrol was seeded into the champ bracket automatically and Axslav had to go through the open.
And if you check out interviews FROM EG's management, for example, an interview with SirScoots, he even says: "There's no harder worker for EG than Geoff, not only to make himself great, but to make everybody else great." There's more to getting a player than if he is good or not, it's also about what he can do for the team. If you check out the EG practice that is streamed very frequently, you can see how much all of the other players improve and appreciate his comments. If anything, they'll "promote" him to team coach or something.
And while I agree they're not keeping him on for the results, to say that he's just "funny" is retarded. He's a guy who represents the team well, and he's a great asset to the players, both gameplay wise and yes, being funny to keep their spirits up.
While I love both Axslav and iNcontroL, I have to say that Axslav leaving EG was probably a good thing for him. He will have way more exposure on RGN, which is still a growing team that hasn't really made their mark yet. Yes, you might say KiWiKaKi is on the team, and that makes the team already popular, but it's more like Kiwi is the only reason that most people even know the team exists at all.
tl;dr: I agree Axslav is probably better than iNcontroL but there's more to this business than just signing the best players always and people can contribute in different ways. Axslav is probably better off in RGN and will get more exposure anyways.
