Tt eSPORTS Challenge Returns!

TeC is pleased to announce the first 2012 weekly Tt eSPORTS Challenge Starcraft II Open with $500 prize pool awarded each week.

The Tt eSPORTS Challenge returns for another exciting series of tournaments in 2012. Debuting with a weekly series of StarCraft 2 tournaments, the Tt eSPORTS Challenge will offer a $500 prize pool each weekend.

Since its inception, the goal of TeC was to provide a platform for both seasoned and aspiring progamers to compete on a regular basis. With a lot of discussion surrounding player incentives and the sustainability of competitive gaming, TeC hopes to reward gamers of all backgrounds who have a strong commitment to the challenge of the game.

All new format
Tt eSPORTS Challenge will debut with a new format that deviates from the initial month long league. Instead, TeC will host one day tournaments every weekend in order to provide the greatest accessibility for the community without the need for month long commitments. StarCraft 2 will be the game for the first series of tournaments.

Each tournament will be casted by experienced community casters. They will also host regular giveaways on our Twitch.tv stream, and TeC will be as much about the spectator experience as it is the player experience. Be sure to tune in weekly for your chance to win a variety of Tt eSPORTS gear!

We are again partnering with Cyber Evolution, LLC to bring you the highest quality tournament possible. Working with CEVO has again illuminated the fact that they are passionate as ever about the tournament platform and upholding the integrity of competition.

Community Commitment
Tt eSPORTS Challenge is committed to providing the highest quality tournament and platform for the gaming community. With a consistent weekly tournament and substantial prize pool, we hope that aspiring progamers with other life obligations, such as work and school, will now have another avenue to showcase their talent in the eSports community.

TeC also aims to work closely with other regular tournaments and cups to avoid scheduling conflicts, giving a player the option to compete in various other tournaments if they so choose. Though conflict is inevitable with so much content being produced by the community, TeC will continue to support the players and the community first through open communication with other tournament organizers.

Reaching out to grassroot communities
2011 brought an unprecedented interest for live eSports tournaments and events. Alongside the big names of offline competition, we noticed numerous local communities and school clubs hosting a variety of gaming tournaments. TeC will make a substantial effort to reach out and support these local communities in 2012 in an effort to meet the challenge of sustaining competitive gaming culture.

Stay tuned to www.ttesportschallenge.com and http://usa.ttesports.com for more details about our outreach in the near future.

Broadcast of Semi-finals and Grand Finals will continue on Sunday, Feb 12 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)

Concerns have been raised over the map pool, namely Xel Naga Caverns. As noted, the map pool can be changed at anytime, and I will be sure to raise the concerns to the appropriate organizers.

Can't wait to get my players in on this ASAP!

I would vote heavily in favor of replacing Xel'naga Caverns with ESV Cloud Kingdom though.

What error message? I just tested the sign ups and it worked fine for me.

EDIT: Unfortunately, this will be strictly a NA event. If you have an NA account but live outside of NA, you are in illegible to participate.

do you feel the format was is too long? is bo3 a bit much for a consistent tournament for someone like yourself?

i'm curious since i'm a huge fan of what playhem is doing, and I know they do Bo1. At first I was skeptical, but it actually adds a unique layer of accessibility to the tournament. We decided to stick with more conservative, albeit, longer format since there is a good amount of cash on the line.

no the old format where it took atleast a month finish, with one match a day. That format was alot of planning, and overlapped with alot of other tournies due to its length,or personal obligations, Its alot easier to put aside 1 day and go for it. Personally I like bo3, because everyone has maps they dont like or their race performs poorly on and it just becomes a luck of the draw if your say evenly matched or slightly better than another player.

While playhem does add that layer of accessibility by finishing quicker etc, it also kind of devalues wins or makes it not seem so great when you do win against a strong player earlier on. A good example was when I took down viOlet in a 30 minute macro game in a playhem tourney, in round 2... So we played 1 game, and alot of people on my stream were like luck, that wont happen again etc... Its worth alot more to a player like myself if I am playing well and win a bo3, or even when I lose its worth more since I get atleast two games with a decent opponent.

and the joke about being cursed with forever 8-12th, is because thats pretty much where ive been stuck every previous TEC, and with single elim, 8-12th is no longer a stopping point lol, as it will be top 8 or top 16.

This is actually for NA Residents only.

It's like a Korean Weekly for the NA Server.

This is going to be a huge thing in a few weeks. I've already got my players signing up for it!

Assuming there is going to be a match to decide 3rd and 4th place, I think you should make the prize values for those spots different (even if it's $60-3rd and $40-4th), just to ensure the players play their best game.

Edit: I like the map pool. I think these community tournaments should have the ladder map influence as casual players are more likely to be accustom to those maps over tournament maps.

There is no 3rd/4th place match in the interest of time for this event. Sorry! I would agree on splitting the prize values if there was though.

It seems like people could still sign up even though the bracket is full. Will make sure people are notified so this doesn't happen again.

Sorry to all those who signed up expecting to play. For future reference, people in the bracket are notified through email the night before.

that's 5:00pm PST prima?

We'll try to stick to the 1:00pm PST original time we announced, but due to the unforseen circumstances of having to split the cast for 2 days, the best way to find out when we air will be to follow @ttesports and the twitch.tv channel (www.twitch.tv/ttesports).

In any case, the VoD's will be cut and uploaded ASAP along with a quick recap of the event. Winners will be contacted shortly during the beginning of next week. The winner of the signed White-Ra T-shirt will be announced with the recap and contacted at the same time as the tournament winners.

Sorry to everyone who expected the full cast today. Since we were all getting into the groove of the tournament, we know next week will be much better. I hope all the players had a smooth and enjoyable tournament experience.

Please leave any feedback/comments/suggestions in this thread.

Provlems :

No check in system (if youre going to cap the tour at 128 but still allow more people to sign up you need a checkin system otherwise you end up with lots of byes and free wins and other people on the side lines waiting to play.

If the tournament is for NA only , why not make it in the evening so as not to conflict with other events (i.e make it start at 2pm rather than just start the cast then , then split it into 2 days so you dont conflict with the morning tours and the evening playhem.

Making it two days seems like a good call. The casters are clearly exhausted by end of the day. Poor guys.

Heavens vs. Saladin is a best of 5.

Dde vs. Mystik was a Bo5, but we casted some games yesterday and continued it today. Casters were exhausted yesterday and we decided to end the gig early and just follow up today, but I think we'll broadcast on sunday from now on!

Oh, there was a situation yesterday where Saladin and Heavens thought it was Bo3 in the semi-finals. However, we informed them it was Bo5 shortly afterward and they played the rest of the games through.
