Do you mean it was raining over Stephano's keyboard? get real please, the only delays that are allowed are because of weather or something completely OUT OF CONTROL of the players.

I did get a ban of 2days when i whined a little bit about P in a tourney topic.. but here we can talk about all we want?

A weather delay would be akin to a player's internet access going down, clearly not what happened in this case.

After SCII come out this site grow in members a lot, there is a lot more people posting here so admins have harder job and chaos is arising. Just my theory ;d

On a MUCH more serious note; Did I just see a flying shark on this map?

I recall him being first when I voted on Rotterdam on the poll. If that is the case I am disgusted by Stephano's action based on that. If the reason he was in this tournament was because of his fans, then his action is purely selfish. I know he is his own master and all that. But this industry is here because of the fans. You got a good point, but I do not think that Stephano would get affected too badly about this. I think the complexity thing was more serious, but few remember it now and even fewer care. Tyler did the same thing in groups, but there is very little anger directed towards Tyler. The community has too short of a memory. Anyone remember Gus Lesdesma and the thousands of dollars that are unaccounted for? That's because no one seems to know what happened with Tyler. If he forfeited because he couldn't be bothered to play then I feel the same about his action.

It is payed for by scheduled barcrafts. Not really viable for those fans to go home and go back out on monday afternoon...

Well, back to SC2 then. Kas won't even lose a map here. Illusion has great talent and him taking 2nd/technically 3rd place shows that. Might be a real challenge to Kas someday, but I just don't see him winning today.

I'm sure sponsors will be less than thrilled if a player refuses to play the finals, I would imagine tournaments would have written language that protects them.

Because some of us also defended Nani against GOM making up rules (as confirmed by Slasher)
Again, technically in every tournament regulations should be a exception clause to allow the organizer handle exactly such situations and keeping them on the safe side. Every player is aware they could be disqualified upon virtually any arbitrary reason. However, it will always leave a bad taste giving the significance of situation and proportionality of measure.
1) Stephano could have been directly disqualified, making Kas the definite winner. Catz and Illusion would then compete for 2nd and 3rd place
2) They theoretically could have re-scheduled.
The actual decision seemed rushed since it goes against common industry practice, which would be 1) or 2). It is understandable given the promotional character and community driven funding of the event. But regarding tournament integrity versus show matches it highly shifts towards the latter.

How do you not understand that rescheduling isn't an option? There are barcrafts and shit being run for this event. People aren't going to show up at a bar on a monday afternoon to watch one series of starcraft

And the player pays a price for it if the reason is or seems to be unjustifiable.. remember Henin against Mauresmo? she got a lot of shit for doing that, even until the day she retired, despite the fact that she AT LEAST tried to play -- unlike Stephy -- but tennis is a pretty bad analogy anyway, being sleepy hardly compares to pulling a muscle or twisting an ankle.

If Federer decided to pull out of a semi final (even in a minor tournament) for no other reason than "he didn't feel it," he would get a crap ton of shit for it. But he knows his responsibilities unlike stephano.
