later Tonight a CSN admin or myself will post a few tips and links to some guides that will help new players understand the game a bit better.
Also, to clarify how this event will work.
Every player that "Checks In' and lets us know they are ready to play will get a chance to play.
We will post the groups in the comments of the Event page. Each group will have similar number of players.
Once the groups have been posted, a CSN admin will create a server for each group and label them by group #
A CSN admin will then message each player in each group with a direct link to the server and the server password. We will give all players around 5 minutes to make it to their server.
Once the players have arrived in their specified server, the CSN admin will have players 'Ready Up' and start their map.
2 Maps will be played per group/round and those scores will be added together (posted in the comments section of the site) and the top 4 players from each group will advance to the next round.
Once we have crowned a FFA Champion and figured out the top 4 or 8 players, they will be seeded on a single elimination bracket (using their finish in the FFA stage) for StarCraft II.
We will then play out the StarCraft II stage of the event and crown the first SC2/QL Champion!
Hello, I'm Josh aka "whally" from Back2Back Gaming's Quake Live squad. As a helpful initiative to this tournament, and to any players participating, I am here to let players in on a few easy commands to make their Quake experience more settling and easy to play.
First of all, Quake is based around a console, meaning there are a myriad of commands that can alter the gameplay that you use, that you see, and that you can experience drastically. A few of the most common commands are as follows:
To bring down your console in Quake, first go to the ESC menu. Where it says "Game Settings", click "Advanced". On the bottom right-hand side of the Game Options tab, check "yes" to where it says Enable Console and below it Allow Console Chat. This will make it so you may access the console with only pressing the ~ key (located next to the 1). Now that you have easy access to your console, let's make a few adjustments to make the game easier to process.
Simply press the ~ key and type these commands exactly as written below:
/cg_enemymodel keel/bright [[ This will make your enemies appear as the model keel, an easy to hear enemy with the appropriate hitbox for most players ]] /cg_enemycolor 1111 [[ Color codes are: 1 = red, 2 = green, 3 = yellow, 4 = blue, 5 = cyan, 6 = purple, 7 = white, 8 = black. You can set any combination of colors to make your enemies easier to see, for example green would be cg_enemycolor 2222 ]] /cg_fov 100 [[ Default is 100, but most players tend to use 110. It's up to your personal preference ]] /cg_autoswitch 0 [[ Setting this to 1 will automatically switch to the weapon you just picked up. It can become very annoying if it' remains enabled ]]
Quake's console also allows you to be able to bind weapons and commands to keys on your keyboard. You can set almost all of your desired commands in the ESC menu by going through the Controls and Game Settings tabs. If you would like to test out my personal cfg (configuration), I have uploaded it through mediafire and linked below. Also, I have linked several youtube videos explaining the basics of Quake's physics, movement, and a few basic strategies to help you newer players out. Happy fragging!

zionsc.. please sign up. The idea is to bring the 2 games together. There are a few solid QL players in the bunch..but that does not mean that their SC2 skills are at the same level as some others. So.. do not worry about your skill level at QL.
