I don't get how people like Naniwa, he's been a little baby ever since the WC3 days, selfish attitude, undeserved sense of entitlement, hasn't changed a bit. Will never be fan of his either.
Hell, it's about TvP.

I still don't understand the fact that he can argue that the last game was meaningless

if that's the case why are you there in the first place, whether or not you have a placement in the later stages of the tournament, you're doing something that you love, and just giving up because of your results is no way to behave,

maybe thats just the type of person I am, but if I were in naniwa's position I'd be playing it till the end, like MC said about white-ra, it doesn't matter if he's going to get anywhere or not, he plays his games out, and never stops trying

naniwa gave up, he gave up on himself, and he gave up on his fans and his team

Honestly, I'm just bummed I didn't stay up long enough to watch it. I would laughed my ass off.
And personally, I don't really think it's that big of a deal, and it's getting blown WAYYY out proportion. But hey, that's just my opinion.
What you preach is worthless, your worship defeat the purpose, like president Bush taking bullets for the secret service.

I read some posts/tweets from other pros making excuses for Naniwa.

Think about it this way, the two lowest ranked NBA teams are facing off with no chance of making the play-offs. Do you ever see one team go out there and shoot from halfway the entire game, because they don't want to "use their best strats"? No, you don't. They are playing because they are pros, they're paid to perform, they have contracts to uphold, they have sponsors to satisfy, and they take pride in what they do.

If you want eSports to prosper, shit like this cannot be tolerated by teams, leagues, fans and sponsors.

Naniwa and quantic gaming should be ashamed.

its kinda silly because both players have no reason to fight their hardest or show potential secret builds

he probably wasnt allowed to give walkover so he just did whatever ended the game the quickest

do you guys really wanna watch 2 guys play a casual game during GSL blizzard cup where neither of them cares about winning?

im not saying what naniwa did was right or wrong, or manner or bad manner. im just saying i think the system should allow for walkovers if they players request it if the game has no meaning

The meaning is for the fans, the viewers, and sponsors/tourny holders. I tune in to watch every game, I don't care who wins a tourny. I only care about watching SC2, and it's disappointing some pro gamers care more about winning than the joy of the game itself or providing entertainment to the growing community. It's selfish to deprive viewers of good games, especially considering they're paid to entertain in them.

Edit: Some of my favorite players win sparse or no tournys. Being a entertainer and being a winner are two different things, and the latter is something I don't tune in for.

From all reports I've read, Nestea cared about winning, just that Naniwa didn't. How can a league exist profitably if players just give up as soon as it doesn't matter for them? Teams in the NFL, NHL, etc. don't stop playing just because neither team can make the playoffs, and it's reasonable to expect them to play - this was the agreed upon format as professionals and if he can't respect the format, then he should have not attended.

You don't want your best strats to be figured out and be out there. Many korean progamers that stream now don't show their A-game because of that reason and it's the reason koreans in SC BW teams don't stream (I mean, they sure as hell would've liked to earn extra money on the side)

Forgg dicks around and shows fun strats, dragon shows fun strats, bomber jokes around sometimes and so on. This point is in no way comparable to basketball. There's not some new basketball strat that will suddenly ruin the metagame in basketball for a good 4-5 months before people figure it out haha.

Those thors got stuck on a pylon? Even I didn't think that pylon was in the way but thors are so massive that it's hard to tell what will get in their pathway. That's the ONLY reason why MMA gave Naniwa even a slimmer of hope of winning that game

We had tiebreakers

We had epic games

We had higher quality games than yesterday.

We had MMA go 5-1, Leenock go 4-2, and Polt the underdog go 3-3....

And all anyone talks about is Naniwa's stunt :[....

Btw, LR is in the OP in case u guys missed the games.

Cheers~!

MMA just played some of the most flawless TvZ games against the two best zergs in the world and you say he doesn't deserve it today? He ended up beating polt anyways, so your argument is kinda invalid

QxG feeling great about that pick-up now i'm sure. Heart of the Champion.

I don't get how ANYBODY can defend Naniwa. You never fucking give up. How can you be taken seriously as a competitor if you throw in the towl when shit gets bad? You know losing like a champion is just as important as winning gracefully (something nani can't do either).

Grow. The. Fuck. Up. Play the game for the people allowing you to make a living playing a fucking video game ffs.

On brighter news, Gratz to MMA and Leenock. True beasts.

Remember that NesTea threw a meaningless game to Genius in a similar situation, it wasn't as blatant and I won't defend Naniwa for probe rushing, he should have done something more exciting, but you can't deny similar situations happen all the time.

im sure if MMA or nestea acted like naniwa did there would be huge drama.

And I'm sure there woulden't be.

heh okay. if you believe this then you're delusional

Because? I can say the same to you. It's obvious like you never studied psychology and thusfar I really doubt you have anything of worth to say about this specific matter.

Well the Yankees sit more then half of their starting lineup down in the final few games since they already clinch the playoff spot. And there Desean Jackson play like zombie walking don't care shit about the team since they didn't give him a contract extension. Vince Carter in Raptors days play bad intentionally forcing the team to trade him.
In two NASL season there are people won't even show up for the matches. I remember one of them is a korean pro the excuse is overslept.

Hmmm, honestly I don't see what the big fuss is about. Like Nani said, its basically the same as a 4 gate or proxy 2 gate. Its his game to throw away, and obviously doesn't care about other people on the internet and what they think. I've been in that state of mind, already lost and still having to compete (in sports competitions). And I understand where he is coming from. People should just leave him be, its already a lot of pressure and defeat to deal with as it is.
