Contrary to popular belief Stephano is not from the States, any mindless spam asserting otherwise after this time (19:48 KST/ 5:48 AM EST/ 10:48 GMT) will meet a moderator response. We have enough confusing spam posting in LR threads these days. Lets try to keep the love for everyone's favourite French zerg reasonable.

And as always:
- No player bashing.
- No caster bashing.
- No balance whining.

Enjoy the games.

Sigh, HerO dropping out has left me kind of disinterested in the rest of the tournament now, it sucks since there's so many awesome players and good games left I'd probably enjoy. Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow.

Im not saying he throwed the game, because it is actually impossible to know this. Im saying the rules are stupid, and that no person in this world exists that would fuck over another person from the same nationality.

Mutas so good.

The Phoenix and voidrays were killed early, and even the mutas all died from good storms/an archon in a warprism. He won that with roaches.

You don't understand how much time the mutas buy you. DRG harassing with mutas forced like 10+ cannons and also let him establish his 3rd and 4th base. He also knew everything that was going on in MC's base and knew exactly what to prepare for.

Game was pretty much over when DRG secured his bases while MC was still dealing with the harass. The mutas gave DRG that economy lead and then just pumped out roaches from that.

Also those phoenix's died as the infestors came out...they didn't really do much before then at all

didnt he already turn down a code a seed? I think I read it somewhere but I may be wrong

I'm sure a foreigner of his caliber would have been able to get the same arrangement Morrow/Idra/Demuslim got. GOM has always been very eager to get foreigners in.

I really wish post like this would get banned. You are insulting MC character by saying he would throw a game to fix matches without any evidence. Dont be throwing accusations like that around without some proof.

Also anyone saying MC would lose a match to anyone on purpose is laughable, MC has to be one of the most prideful SC2 players out there.

I really don't like how one player is chosen over the other with the same score. Head to head? What sport is this concept from? I say let MC play Stephano for the right to advance. That's some joke of a system. Stephano defeated DRG, who bested MC, if my knowledge of algebraic logical operators is correct, Stephano>DRG>MC leads to Stephano>MC. I'm surprised to see this "creativity" in a Korean tournament.

to be fair i don't think the mutas were that good. They certainly paid off as they picked off all the stargate units and random units here and there + templar archives but MC had them under control most of the time.

It was the map structure, where MC had to split his units so much that made MC lost.

Also, going for archons instead of collossus doesn't help in these choked maps. I understand that templars were useful as well, but I feel like MC should have eased up on Archons, wait before moving out and include some Archons...

Nah, against mutas, heavy templar and archons are the best choice.

Some nice games, some questionable decisions. + Show Spoiler +
Sadly HerO did not show his potential (2 times FE vTP?), while DRG and MVP showed well prepared builds. Don't know why Stephano wanted to RoachLing-Bust on Dual Sight, but MC's forcefields saved the day.
Hoping for a great day2!

They played. Stephano lost. GG
As much as it also makes me sad. It's a fair system, used in most tournaments, and in many sports. It doesn't make that much sense to play again, after they've already played 1-on-1.
Consider that the loser wins... and advances, then they will be actually 1-1, but the one who won the second game advances. Many people would protest about that too.

Yeah its always disheartening when you favourite player/team/athlete get beat in a great tournament but the next day you just realize that the tournament is full of the best of the best and that it will be great and worth the watch no matter what!

He didn't really do any dmg with all the phoenix he had out or the void besides stopping creep spread. I think that was the main issue.

I don't think he was really trying to do alot of damage he was just trying get some map control and deter roach/ling all in or mutas since those builds are strong on crossfire which drg disagreed and said hmmm I think I will show case my top zvt muta control in zvp and it worked

MC showed some of the best anti-muta play I've seen on that map. He covered all three bases, lost some probes and a templar archives, took all the mutas to red. Did this without blink and getting his templar archives sniped. But purely the map control mutas gives won him the game. He could have probably do no damage with the mutas, just let the pure roach stream come in and still win.

WRONG.

YOU wouldn't fuck over someone from your own nationality in an individual tournament. And that's where the problem is.

Cross Fire is a pretty crappy map for PvZ. Two base all-ins are basically all you can do. But that might be why MC decided to not go for a two base all-in, since it's predictable. Sucks that Stephano's tournament fate was decided on such a bad map. But then Stephano had his tournament fate in his own hands until he lost vs. MC doing a roach-ling all-in.

I think the reason Mc decided to expand was because he saw the zerg had burrow.

It's possible your motivation isn't 100% to win that game but rather 90%, but you could still make the counter argument that playing without an amount of stress can be beneficial also

Too bad for Stephano, he almost made it. He didn't embarrass himself at all and totally held his own in a group of very elite players. The game against MC was very winnable too if he hadn't overcommitted with his roach/ling attack, which would have put him in a 3-way tie for group victory. Overall, a very respectable showing for Stephano.
