+ Show Spoiler [Frequently Asked Questions] +Q: Will these games be cast live? A: We will be casting live, however we will be using replays. With all our casters being based in North America, we cannot feasibly cast live in game without casing lag. Also we want to present this at good times for English speaking fans.
Q: What is a "confirmed team" A: This means at least one player from that team has expressed interest in playing and will be a participant. Some teams like Liquid will only be fielding a few players, and other teams like SlayerS will be trying to make it so their entire roster can play.
Q: I thought only GOM could run tournaments in Korea? A: That is true in part. GOM has the broadcast rights in Korea but has been kind enough to allow these events. We are very thankful to GOM who also assisted us in reaching out to the teams!
Q: Why is "Korean Team X" not represented? A: At this point invites have been sent out to every major Korean team. Some have yet to reply, but rest assured I think we will have every major Korean team involved, so make sure and pay attention as as more teams confirm I will add them to the OP.
Q: What will be the map pool? A: This was a big source of debate and here is what we came up with. We realize that the Koreans play mainly on GSL maps for the GSL. However we don't want to totally leave our maps out. So it will be a combo of the two, that will likely be a bit more GSL map heavy.
Q: Will replays be released? A: Yes! Some will in fact be released. They will be limited to uncasted games, but every week you will be able to get your hands on some very sick Korean replays!
Q: These casts are at bad time for Europe, what gives? B: We are aware of this and are looking into a EU rebroadcast, I will let everyone know when I know more
Special thanks to; GOM TV, TorCH, Chae Jung Won, the ESV TV image team, and all our fans! Banners by shiroiusagi

Way to go Virgil, was wondering when one of these would be made for the weeklies.
Is Sia still in NsHS or did he go back to Zenith?

Zenith technically does not exist anymore and he is not with NsHS.

might be in the minority with this, but I hope (against all odds) that a player on a chinese team can take it, would love to see some of them in code a or be more involved in tournaments outside of china in general. ofc i have no objections with jinro or hyun taking it either. :-)
but I expect some still unkown player on a korean to reveal to the world what a monster he indeed is and take everything down.

Loving Jinro's patient mech play here.
Pretty sloppy engage by Jinro, but Sia completely snarfed up and lost a huge infantry force.

It wasn't too bad for Sia, he's been setting up for this air switch for ages so he needed to clear the supply eventually. Could perhaps have killed slightly more but he took out a few vikings + the raven so I think it worked out alright for him really.
It's a pretty nice TvT really.
|
Ah great to see a dedicated thread, the weeklys deserve it. Jinro gets to play a long tvt playing mech, I'm sure he's loving it (as long as he wins)!
|
Orb just missed Sia losing all his battlecruisers
|
Sorry if it's been asked or I missed it, is there a map pool somewhere, this map looks cool

haha, that was an absolutely terrible minute for Sia, loses a ton of his bc's for free and then has all his air units stacking on thor volleys.

Awesome, thank you

Good to see Jinro dominating someone. I still remember how close he was to qualifying for code A november
|
That was quite a first game. :O

Whooo jinro! I think he had 6+ PFs there.

LOL Jinro must be pretty happy, could kingdom and calm before the storm as the maps, hope g2 is as good aside from Sia's derp

Jinro v Taeja?
The Foreign Hope vs The Final Boss.
This is why Korean Weekly is awesome.
|
Hi I love watching this tourney because it actually has new maps. New maps are awesome and old maps are getting stale!
Therefore I propose adding the map name to the overlay somewhere so we can look up what they look like when we see a new map! Either that or putting the map pool into the OP somewhere.
Thanks!

Great to see Jinro absolutely crushing Sia, very convincing series win.
|
Wow. Jinro is dominating here.
|
Cool play by Jinro! Knew he got the upper hand and calmly pushed at the right time.
|
Real men go mech. WP Jinro!
|
I like mech terran. Mech terran is good.
|
Nice! I saw bit and pieces and it looked as though Jinro played really solid. Going to have a tough challenge against taeja.

Thanks! When they show a new map, not only is there an overlay giving the map name, it gives match-up statistics and Orb always goes over the map features as well.
|
Jinro played really solid to, having 74 workers and a huge army at the same time. Such a tight build.
|
Yay, always cool to see Jinro crushing bio players with mech :D

ROFL! You can't call it hating if it's true.
I almost don't even want to watch Tassadar play anymore out of fear of picking up bad habits from his play. Sure this play works against a player like life but he gets stomped so hard by better players.

How do you get the Stalkers or Pheonix's near a ball of sieged tanks and marines with stim. He spent like 5 minutes looking for a hole for those pheonixs to get in, as well as I think he had what like 3 stalkers?

Turns out siege tanks in siege mode out range stalkers. Marines with the raven help a lot with pheonix too.
And the cheese continues in game 2!

True, but he probably should have lost this one too lmao departure acted like he was going to surround the hellions and derped to the scvs instead killing two and losing all his lings in the process.
If Taeja lost the hellions he had 2 banshees and a tank to kill 20 lings before they kill his scvs...
And also, wtf is this build? I've never EVER seen this, and didn't even know you could support this lmao

off topic question here, but is esv monthly #3 going to have a code a spot up for grabs again? (i've heard conflicting things) it would be really unfortunate if the coca incident ruined esv's relationship with gom.

No and it had nothing to do with CoCa/Byun, GSL is just unsure of their format for 2012.

Taeja using a Ganzi build this game.

That was a pretty display of micro from Jinro. Let's hope he wins the next one, too.

Jinro's first attack caught TaeJa in the middle of a production cycle after he built a ton of infrastructure, but that very same investment is what helped TaeJa win game 3. Very interesting game for sure - TaeJa's macro is scary good.

His ZvZ has looked pretty awful in the past. Pray for succesful 1 base aggression or look hopelessly lost past that xD
It's been a few months since I've seen him play it though so maybe he's been working on things.

Defending cheese is a skill, quite an important one really. ZvZ ones are rather... unsatisfying though.

Please correct the name of the maps, the note always say calm before the storm. What map is this btw? :p

How many injects did Hyun miss to get that overlord?

Well hyun seemed pretty in control during the whole game.

hyuns only played for 1 month i think

Let's remember that Revival isn't a good ZvZ player.

Hyun qualified for the last few msls when he was still a BW progamer. I wouldn't call that bad. And I see no real difference between him and roro. Modesty lol, he is a ZvZ sniper and terribad in other matchups.

Roro is much much better than hyun, but I still wouldn't call hyun "bad". Just not very good. Definitely on the lower end of the scale but good enough for mbc to not replace him with another zerg.

Makes you wonder how much they practice for these ESV maps. Taeja definitely showing he knows them well, especially with his placement on the first map. I think a few of them just quickly look at the map or play 1-2 games on it.
Must have been weird for someone like Hyun yesterday for example. Still learning the game and learning maps that are only used in 1 tournament.

Whaat? Taeja is down 0-2 somehow? I think the maps are a bit tough on terran lately.

Most ESV viewers know Symbol, he's done well in weeklies before =p
He actually made Code A this season too but choked a bit vs Genius.
(he also got a lot of screentime playing vs Byun as KDH back when Byun was streaming)
Really nice play in that final game, just constant runby's and harassment whenever Taeja moved out anywhere. Definitely didn't feel like Taeja has a particularly good handle on mech in TvZ though,.
