Same drill as usual:
  • No caster bashing.
  • Excessive tournament bashing that detracts from game discussion will be met with moderator action. Criticism is welcome, whining is not.
  • In general do your best to stay on topic and discuss what we're all here for: the games.
Enjoy the games guys.

lol 2 best protoss. not even close.. TT1 with very questionable decision making and sen crushed him for his bad decisions

please leave the player bashing out of here huk and tt1 have been considered to be in the top 3 - top 5 of the foreign community since retail (old schooL).. dont let your hatred blind you. sen outplayed him this game and thats why it was an upset

This....doesn't even make sense. Yes TT1 is good, but huk, hero and mana are all better than him. And sen was clearly the favorite, therefore it wasn't an upset.

how soon people forget MLG dallas where tt1 took 2nd. im not sure who mana is but i doubt he has even made it to pool play in MLG... please dont disrespect player just becaues you dislike them artosis just did a long rant on the SOTG about this

Uhh what? I'm pretty sure Kiwikaki got 2nd at MLG Dallas..... I don't even think TT1 got top 8? I don't dislike TT1 but any means. but to say he is top 5 foreign protoss is kind of silly. Mana is an extremely strong Toss player. Also lol by your logic with mlg Incontrol is a better player too seeign as he was in group play for almost this entire year.....

Wtf? People shouldn't be bashing TT1 but Mana is one of the best protoss in Europe, having one the best PvT....

MaNa has never gone to MLG, so ya he hasn't made pool play.

Those are only the korean games and doesn't include the games played not in KSC2 tournies.

International and Korean combined

ZvP record: 76-55 (58%)

Note: a lot of the international games are from things like weekly cups and other open tournies where players like naniwa beat players such as blackcidy.

So one can say it is probably skewed towards protoss favour in the above stats since when you look at the recognizable names games, its far more often that Z wins over P.

the map is bad for protoss and highly Zerg favoured in that matchup. 58% is quite bad as far as map balance goes tbh.

Comparing balance not at the very top level is pointless. I bolded the part that makes the 76-55 record irrelevant.

What are all the casters doing there? Couldn't they make some material for times like now.

just wanted to point out a couple things the casters missed

The pylon full wall into kill-pylon-later is intentional I think. Rather than having to build 2 cannons, he makes 1 cannon + 1 pylon which is a bit cheaper, then kills it later when he no longer needs to deny the backdoor ling run by.

And the late cyber core with emphasis on getting a TON of probes is also intentional and how tt1 prefers to play, he likes his probes. Also the criticism for getting 6 WG but not doing anything with it is misunderstood I think.. getting more WG than normal in a passive build makes sense when you first are going for a faster econ like he was, plus having later warpgates as a result.

And lastly when tt1 did his sentry drops to FF the mineral patches, that was to deny mining time with basically only energy spent, energy that would just sit at max 200 anyway, yet they said it didn't do anything and sen is unharassable. He did however lose 1 sentry though.

yeah I thought there might be more to that than most people assumed

a couple of warp gates can be a long term investment as well if you produce a ton of early sentries and let them accumulate energy, even if they aren't used that much (although TT1 went for some prism harass as well)

yea.
btw I want to make it clear I'm not criticizing the casters, it's unreasonable to expect them to notice every single little thing. Casting is a lot tougher than I think people realize and I've respect for the long hours the casters put in at tournaments.

Except that map really is shit for Protoss. It is impossible to take a 3rd on the map and forces the toss to do some stupid 2 base all-in.

I don't think that's "how soon people forget" syndrome, but rather "how long some can remember." MLG Dallas from a year ago where no Koreans competed and PainUser got 3rd.

Are you delusional, ignorant, or just trolling? I don't even dislike TT1, but you either are oblivious to what Mana has done this year compared to TT1. He's far more accomplished and easily a much higher ranked foreigner toss.

oops sorry i was wrong that was international only.

Including international AND Korean TLPD results shows

ZvP 107 - 70 (65.42%)

So Zergs in every tournament that has used Dual Sight and is registered in TLPD win 65% of their games vs. Protoss on Dual Sight. So clearly dual sight is a Zerg map and the sample size (almost 200 games) is large enough to decide this. Maps have been cut in BW and SC2 in the past for fewer games played in the past with such high percentages of racial map imbalance in the past.

He wasn't exactly 'bahsing' TT1, more or less laughing at the statement that TT1 should be considered one of the 2 best protoss at this tournament. Which is a very valid statement. No offense to TT1 but even he says he's considered an underdog.
Bottom line to say TT1 is top 2 Protoss in a tournament with HerO HuK Hasuobs MaNa and Hwangsin is just out right silly. IMO its pretty cleared the top 2 by far are HuK and HerO followed by Hasu then really a toss up(Pun definitely intended) between the rest.

MaNa is better than Hasu, MaNa is the best Protoss in europe by far. By far. Look at your right(TLPD).

(NaNi and SaSe are in Korea, just reminding.)

TLPD.alright.thats all what counts

What does count then? ladder ranking ?

ionno. we need a better ranking system. if you look at TLPD, Nestea is about rank 85 in the world. >_>

wow the 2 best protoss eliminated already this is turning out to be the tourney of upsets

lol 2 best protoss. not even close..

That's because he never plays foreign tournaments, to be fair.

so i had times to get drunk, go to the best clubs in cardiff, get my friends kicked out and come back and only 3 more games have been played?

can you guys tell me any of the games is worthy of paying 5$ for VOD, knowing i love zerg play (sen? dimaga?)

no... so far we've seen HerO completely outclass Hwan in the first set, huk losing the war of the worlds vs Hasuobs, dimaga vs bratok with sloppy play by both, and finally sen making over 9000 roaches and outmacroing tt1

Wasn't there a MLG where it was Jinro vs TT1 (Jinro winning of course) before Jinro went to Korea?
